Mines an 88.5 EXP LC the very last year,it started as a 90hp CFI or TBI then went to MPFI then to turbo (kinda the same plan i have for the MJ  ) I know what your saying about the back, the lack of rear seats is part of why the EXP didnt catch on. I got tired of it and added rear seats to mine. here's some pics they are old and poor quality
  2. then 31s might be pushing it on a 2wd,I'm gonna have to agree with eagle. stick with whats on there. or do a 2" budget boost and go to 31s

Its crazy. you put so much time, money ,and love into something like your truck and some jerk comes up and treats it like its a piece of crap. :headpop: About 8-9 years ago i had someone bounce a boulder accross the front of my EXP,took out the fender, hood, cowl, windshield, and new paint job. :fs1: cops figured it was just kids messing around as a few others got hit.
  4. What is the hieght difference on a 2wd vs. 4wd? mine is a 4X4 and 31s were about as big as i would want to go on stock suspension also yes the wider offset wheels stick out more but they should not rub on a 4cyl truck unless you were doing some serious offroading,my truck has been airborne with 31s on stock suspension and 4" back spaced wheels without rubbing on landing.
  5. my truck isnt gutless and i have 33s and 3.55 gears. It was fairly peppy on 31s. it could burn the tires pretty good, bury the speedo ,and pass cars on steep grades.
  6. I have 33X12.50s on my 2.5L MJ I had 31X10.50s on there for a long time with and and without a lift. the WJ arm are only needed if you have stock wheels, most aftermarket wheels clear fine with 31s.

Ive been checking craigslist for it but i dout it will get sold that way, some tweaker will probably trade it or get $20bucks for it to buy drugs. It seems crazy to me that people still steal car stereos, they have gotten so cheap that it doesnt make since. why risk getting you head blown of or going to jail for something with almost no street value?

yes it had a removable face plate, and no i didnt take it off :wall: last place i lived this wasnt a problem so i got lazy and quit removing it,I recently moved to a large housing development that looks peaceful but has alot of punk kids running around messing with stuff. I guess its time to get an alarm

Went out to my MJ to go to work this morning and found my dash busted up and my stereo missing. nothing else was gone or messed with and my other cars were untouched. luckily the door wasnt locked because they left a wire with a piece of porcelain(piece of a spark plug)tied too it that they were using to break windows. so now i have a custom dash and no music :fs1: I want to go sit on my roof and play sniper on a positive note the cop that came out really liked my MJ
  13. here's the Dakota seats in an MJ,these are from a 97
  14. I checked that starter on Napa pro link there are 3 options BSH SR6505X bosch direct drive $385 list NAE 17005 direct drive Paris-Rhone $223 list NAE 17085 Gear reduction Paris-Rhone $200 list they are not showing them in stock but might be worth checking there were also 3 alternators listed 2 Paris-Rhone and 1 Bosch i wonder if the bosch parts might be easier to find. I'm getting listings for most of the parts but they are all saying none in stock.
  15. are you sure its gas? there shouldnt be enough gas making it through the cat to dump out the tail pipe. how well does it run?
  16. If he really has nitrous its probably a 50-75 shot which would put it high 9s 1/8th and low 15s 1/4 mile if not low 11s 1/8th and low 17s 1/4 mile for comparison a 4.0L HO MJ should be mid 10s 1/8th and mid 16s 1/4 now this is just on paper, the numbers will vary a little in real life but are usually fairly accurate. as far as i can tell hornbrod should be able to beat him even with the nitrous.
  17. a gas pedal is not an on/off switch, with a little throttle control the truck will launch fine. i would bet if you ran an MJ and XJ on a track the results would be close. I have a Chevy luv stepside with a built 3.8L Buick,it has tons of torque. It can smoke the tires at will and is MUCH lighter in the rear then an MJ. after adjusting to it i didnt run accross much that could take it off the line.
  18. I must have had a brain fart,i knew they were OHC,there is a 2.5L turbo acclaim sitting in my drive way with the head off. also the M4s is one of my favorite dream cars it was 2.2L DOHC and twin turbo.
  19. Ive always liked the 80's turbo dodges although ive never owned one, being a Ford guy i got into 80's escorts/EXPs instead. crazy high RPM from modern 4cyls is pretty common now days. IIRC a 2.2L dodge is an 8 valve push rod motor, thats alot of wieght to get spinning, not really ideal for revving but great for torque. you get these modern engines with small displacement, multiple overhead cams, and multiple valves there is less reciprocating wieght allowing them to rev like crazy. they are getting to be more and more like sport bike engines. that D16 is a single cam 1600cc so it would rev pretty good but in japan they offer that engine as a twin cam,you can bolt the head on a US D series and really make it scream.
  20. Ive read about the dakota bell housing swap, from what i can tell its not hard to do. here is a write up i found http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=956031 advance adapters also makes a conversion kit to go AX5-AX15 but its $450-$500
  21. Do not forget about weight transfer off the line. He is going to dump the clutch on the Honda and remove all the weight from the front tires and plant it on the rear ones. Making the front end light. Sending the tires up in smoke. this is correct,my EXP had no traction till i stiffend the rear suspension. rear would drop and front tires would spin like mad
  22. If you could get the car to 2000 lbs which you should be able to do with a CRX or hatch you should only need 345-350 HP to touch the 10's. if you could keep everything tuned just right the engine should hold, forged internals are only insurance for when things go wrong. maybe saying 10s was going a bit far, although it could happen under the right conditions. 11s-12s would be more realistic, but still only short term on the stock engine.
  23. But the original post specified 1/8 mile. For an eighth, I'll still take the Honda. Sorry. I love my XJs and MJs, but I have owned a couple of Civics and an Accord. For the eighth, the Honda has it all over the MJ. Front wheel drive with the weight over the drive wheels, vs. rear wheel drive with no weight to help you hook up. Not gonna happen, GI. on paper the MJ is about .5 sec faster then the civic 1/8th mile. my brother had a 93 XJ 2wd 4.0L/aw4 and was constently street racing the neighborhood kids,it had no trouble against the average riced out civic
  24. Maybe in the 1/8th. There is no way a stock D16 bottom end will handle that much squeeze and reach the end of the 1320 in one piece. I have 22 psi of boost and a little shot (50) of juice. My car has all forged internals though. The fastest I have got it to in the 1/4 was 11.46 & 110. I don't see why its not possable, ive seen a stock internal EX coupe run mid 11's with full interior. now the engine didnt live very long like that but it did it. so why couldnt you take an early hatch or CRX strip it down, turbo the crap out of it and get a pass in the 10s the fastest D16 runs mid 9's so the engine is capable of it,as long as it held together 10's are possable.
  25. I guess it depends on if he really has nitrous and how much he's running. stock vs stock the honda doesnt have a chance,an EX coupe is around 2200-2300 lbs and i would guess a 4 door would be more. a stock D16 or 1.6L SOHC engine is around 107HP and the car should run a 17-17.5 sec 1/4mile now nitrous or other forced induction changes everything, a D16 civic can get into the 10's with enough juice.
