  1. Indeed it is. If the 93 downpipe clears and will work then I can happily be rid of that 4 bolt flange. It will also save me from spending more $$$
  2. 1992 Eliminator. This truck has the 4 bolt flange on the downpipe and the CAT. my 88 Eliminator RENIX is the same flange style.
  3. Put the Jeep back up on the lift to find that the two bolts that go through the bracket that is in the crossmember had broke. One had been gone for some time and the other looked to be holding on by very little. Basically the exhaust is not supported in that section well anymore. The bolts into that flange are rusted away so no unscrewing them which is why I was hoping an inch of pipe to clamp to would be enough in the first place and also happy that the CAT seemed to be functioning properly. I can try and cut the bolts out where the gasket is in between the two and then prey I can punch or drill out the bolts. I have a cherokee that has the down pipe and a newer CAT on it. It is a 93 and it looks like it would work, but if I am not mistaken the down pipe is larger in diameter than the one on my comanche. If I were able to swap that in It would make future exhaust work easier (I hope this is the last exhaust job on this truck). Any idears?
  4. The band clamps crossed my mind, but I wasn't sure if they would hold off that well. Help a friend delete his muffler and he bought some of those clamps and we could not get the clamps tight enough to keep the tailpipe from rolling around inside the clamp. Ill have the jeep on the lift again today for an oil change and an oil filter adapter o-ring change, so while there I will see what I can come up with. I will need to add pipe if I do not weld where it is at now. If I pull everything in to get more pipe to clamp onto my tailpipe will then be touching the rear shackle.
  5. Not too fond of welding on exhaust....It is much cleaner looking, but if something changes down the road I do not wanna be forced into cutting anything up. plus I am using a 150$ muffler that I do not wanna chop haha.I plan to use muffler and tailpipe sealer to prevent exhaust leaks. I just didn't know if an inch on both ends would be enough to feel comfortable with.
  6. Hey guys, I am putting on my new muffler and tailpipe today and when putting everything together I have found that the CAT has a small dimple on the bottom and only allows an inch of the muffle inlet to be slid on. The outlet end of the muffler going over the tailpipe is about the same, maybe a tick more to work with. If it were your truck, would you clamp it down with that little to work with, or do something different? I could buy a new CAT with a longer outlet, but this CAT seems to be fine.
  7. Been busy with other stuff lately and haven't had much shop time. Friday night we got the new HB installed, but I went with the Napa brand one. I must have gotten my numbers mixed up because my brother took the micrometer to the Mopar and Napa one and sure enough the Mopar has a .20" longer shaft. Anyway, I chickened out. I can't imagine it not working, but if it was just off a little and I did not notice it I wasn't sure what would happened or if something would break. I guess I'll have a spare until the next time one needs replaced and then Ill remove the slinger.
  8. 10-4! If you have a minute you can find that page on facebook.
  9. Hey Brandon, are you planning to go to Lebanon, IN next week for the Jeep Frenzy Weekend 2016? Its the 9th-10th. If so perhaps we could work something out on a hitch :brows:

  11. Just got my new harmonic balancer from the fella on eBay. I ordered one from Napa just in case the Mopar one required the slinger to be removed. The shaft on the Napa brand and Mopar brand are identical. If I have time I will try installing the balancer this evening. I will let you all know what I come up with. If it works I will be sure to save the part number to maybe save some confusion in the future. OH, the Mopar harmonic balancer pulley also has the AB suffix.
  12. 10-4. If the number checks out I will do so. Now, if this one happened to go bad and I couldn't get another like it and had to go with an aftermarket, would the shim need to be reinstalled or no? That is if I had to remove it of course.
  13. ORDERED! Thanks Don
  14. I figured I would go with a Dorman rather than the Napa brand if the shipping wasn't going to be awful. Has anyone tried the "Pioneer"? I have never heard of them, but they're priced like they are gold. I am hoping to pull it and reinstall it from the top with little-no issues. Rather not take the skid plate off for this job if I don't have to haha.
  15. Hey guys, it has been a while since I have had to ask for some help, but I have just found out that my harmonic balancer is giving up on me. Any recommendations on what brand you all would suggest? This is a first for us here at HPG. Thanks!
  16. Starting bid is $149.95 with 6 days left to bid.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-AMC-Jeep-Comanche-Pickup-Truck-Rear-Splash-Guard-Kit-with-Logo-/222134807486?hash=item33b8442bbe:g:EtsAAOSwepZXTFmg&vxp=mtr
  17. Haven't had the time to go look at it yet. only an hour from me. Whatever you may sell I might be interested considering we are close. If the Bed is clean and you're going to have a toy I may be interested in buying it. I hope you don't make me regret not buying it and not having another clean MJ around (minus those rockers). Goodluck!
  18. Did you pick that up from Monticello?
  19. Not related, but where in Indiana are you located? Glad to see another fellow hoosier on the forum!
  20. Did you happen to see what the factory style hitch looked like with the new bumper? I had a guy build me the JCR bumper and have been wanting to buy one of krustys hitches, but am not sure what it will look like. The JCR is not as tall as the factory bumper and I would like for it to be tucked up. I did not use the receiver in the bumper, instead I had my guy work his magic and make that a designated license plate spot knowing I would be buying a hitch.....

    Rock Auto?

I love Rock Auto.....I hate it takes so long to receive items. The cost is worth it unless you are in a pinch and need the parts quickly. I am lucky to have a Napa parts store in town that are fairly priced to me and the family because we are regulars. I would not give up on them. I am surprised you like CARiD though! They have done a good job of royally pissing me off. Amazon is always great, as well as Ebay IMO...haven't looked at street side auto before. May have to take a gander.
  22. Definitely a cool guy to meet! He asked if I would want the manuals for both vehicles and I told him yes. Next thing I know he is making two trips for all of these books haha! Scored a couple of scrambler shop service manuals. He was parting with everything but the Scrambler yesterday. Glad I noticed the turbines too....who knows where they would have went if I did not drag them home. He had a book that he kept all of his service records on. He had owned the comanche since 1996 and the chief a little before that. It sat for 10 years under a tarp and was used for parts to keep the comanche going. It was obvious he was sad to see them go, but I assured him that the cherokee will be went through and not tossed in the trash and that the comanche will likely become a project for a daily and not be wheeled. He said he has been doing what we all do since he was able to drive. Maybe we will see him again soon about a scrambler :brows:
  23. My pleasure! Goodluck
  24. I love the new look! That Country looks to be in good shape with a lot to offer, too!
