  1. It is a 4 pane split rear, not 3.... I am about 30 minutes south of the lafayette area.
  2. So I bought an 89 comanche and it has the sliding rear glass. I want a solid back glass with the seal. Does anyone have any solids they want to get rid of for a slider or know of anyone? Thanks fellers.
  3. I always like hearing everyones opinions! After some of my own research the 242 seems like the more obvious choice and seems to be a vey common swap. Going to pull the TC out of this XJ and then store it. You can never have too many spare parts! ;)
  4. http://jeepsticker.com/mj.htm scroll down and see if the eliminator sticker here is what you need. I purchased one from the site a while back. identical to the factory badge. took a few weeks to receive. I think the guy punches them out on request
  5. Me and my brother bought a parts jeep that has a 231. Ive tossed the idea around if I should go to 231 or not (kinda why i started the topic). My half for the jeep ran about 150 $ so ill be ahead very shortly after we acquire needed parts and then piece it out and sell the rest. I plan to pull the TC and store it with the rest of the Jeep stock in case i need it in the future. I as well like the full time option
  6. He guys, just wanna hear everyones input on their opinions of these two transfer cases. Pros and cons. I have a 242 now and like it a lot, but have a chance to pick up a 231 for cheap. I just want to hear your thoughts between the two!
  7. Welcome to the addiction. I am a little south of you in Indiana around the lafayette area. There are not a lot of comanches in the area if you search craigslist, but i think you will be surprised at what you can find and it is not that long of a drive for you. probably 2 hours id say. A lot of what i have found has a 2.5 in it and the bodies are in alright shape. a little TLC would go a long way. I hope this helps you. Good luck!!!
  8. Thanks a ton, cruiser54!
  9. It only does this in the winter when i run it hard. It has done it once during the summer, but its not as common as the winter. It runs like a top otherwise. I have not changed the fuel filter. the truck had 5k on the rebuilt engine at the time of purchase and the previous owner claims to have went through everything in the truck, but i have found he lied about a few minimal things. Once shop room opens up I will look into the filter and see if its fuel related. Thanks!
  10. Hello everyone. I am a proud owner of a 1988 comanche eliminator. I have been having an issue that I was hoping someone could help me diagnose. The engine came out of an early Grand Cherokee (done before I owned the truck). He put the auto trans in the jeep as well. During these cold months here in Indiana I occasionally bust some drifts around the farm and drive through the woods to look around and check on cattle. When its cold the jeep will run great until I run it hard to get through the snow or just trying to get somewhere. When i do this it will occasionally stall and kill itself. It will fire right back up, but will do this multiple times. I am not sure is an electronic issue or what. Just looking for some answers and thoughts. Thanks!
