I know that everyone is saying to use 10w-30 in their trannys now, but I am confident that going with redline is the best fit for me. The problem I am having is knowing whether to go with a GL-4 or GL-5. The Haynes manual says GL-5, but after reading other forums and writeups it seems as though GL-4 is better? This is my DD and won't see any towing time in the near future. Any insight is appreciated!

My brother and I went and visited the local-ish junkyard yesterday to find a dash and some other random items. Here are some items we got, and just what we saw along the way. This Nissan had Duals. I had taken another picture from the rear, but did not get it uploaded. This one was hard to look through. Before the "Community Watch" got ahold of this I am sure it was a very nice jeep. All of the modifications were badly done. We came across a 1984 XJ wagoneer. Did not have the 4 head like front clip though. We are not fan of tan interior, but thought that this dash bezel was pretty cool. Unfortunately, it was busted up after the gauge cluster. We were able to salvage some of the badges and one of the rear taillights. And here are the big scores of the day... Scored 4 grey bezels from 5 of the laredos that were there. The wood grain was found underneath some junk in a limited that we had found! 1989 stereos. And last, but not least.... All in all a good day. Had perfect weather to be out there!

HITCH PLATES!
FarmerBrown5 replied to krustyballer16's topic in Vendors- members making products for MJs
you will have another 2 or 3 sold here before too long I'm sure. My brother just got back into an MJ and I definitely need one, maybe 2! going to plan a trip your way soon, I hope. -
Whereabouts in Indiana? Attica. What chrome? AFAIK those wheels were never offered in chrome, only with rough cast centers with gray recesses, and machined rims and spoke faces. Considering the price for alloy wheels, $129/wheel is a very good price. I'm sure that what I have seen in those wheels that has a bit of a chrome look to it might be someones DIY. Thanks for the notice!

Indiana Comanche for parts
FarmerBrown5 replied to FarmerBrown5's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
When I saw the listing I wondered how long it would be up with you just down the road. Definitely want the turbines myself! haha -
1986- $500 Said there was some engine problem, but has a rebuilt 4spd. http://bloomington.craigslist.org/cto/5379817526.html

Thanks for the help you guys! Yeah, do not want them to be mismatched at that price. Hard to find them around here and the comanches that hit the main junkyard we go to have yet to have a set, or even one turbine. There are some very good junkyards in Indiana, but hours away from my location.

Over the last year I have been able to collect 6 center caps for the factory turbine wheel. Now all I am missing is the wheel haha. Not sure when Ill be making this purchase, but I have looked around to find someone who is refurbishing them. Rockauto sells them, but they are always out of stock in the chrome, but have them in a cast look. Just curious if anyone knows of a place or not that you can find them redone. I know this has been asked at least once before and they are hard to find, but I thought I would get my answers direct  Thanks for any help offered!

92 Comanche speakers
FarmerBrown5 replied to FarmerBrown5's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well, I may have misunderstood Pete then! The ones I'm talking about are just below the B pillar light. The ones toward the floor I am obviously aware of. Tomorrow I should be able to get a picture up. Thought I was onto something for a minute haha! -
92 Comanche speakers
FarmerBrown5 replied to FarmerBrown5's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Was this a rare option? This is our 5th Comanche to make its way to the farm and have never personally seen it. I have looked at a ton on the Internet and here on the forum and have not seen it before. -

Thanks Pete! This is a first for my brother and I! Definite score in our opinions! Thank you! -
Hey guys, I'm tearing down my brothers newest purchase and on the back pillars, where the inside light is, is a pair of speakers just below the lights located near the head liner. I first thought they were add ons because I have never seen such a thing, but after taking the pillar off I'm starting to second guess it. If they're not factory they were done very well and could fool someone. Anyone know if that was an option or not? Cannot post a picture right now since I'm using my phone.

Hey guys! My brother owns a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Classic. He wants to convert it to a manual, but would like a late model Jeep to work with since most things will be closer to the style he has. I found a 1998 cherokee on CL and it is a manual, BUT 2WD. Could we convert that to work in his Jeep?I have a guy with a 95 cherokee who would possibly part with driveshafts that are for a manual. Any help is appreciated! :D

Internal slave. The transmission is original to the truck. I bought the wrangler tranny before I purchased this truck because I was starting to get things together for a swap on my '88. I will throw it on the lift this evening and double check things again and then have someone run it for me and listen. Thanks for the tips!

I had a guy replace my clutch in my '92. I bought a Tranny a couple years back and it came with a new clutch kit minus slave cylinder which I bought. The trans was from a 95 wrangler. I went to rock auto and all part numbers matched, but the guy who went to put it in said the flywheel would not work because of a pin? So he out the old one back in and said that it was in good shape anyway. I had to bleed it when I brought it home and will have to again here today or tomorrow. After a decent drive of going through the gears yesterday I started hearing a noise around where the trans bolts up to the motor and it became difficult to shift as if the clutch did not work properly (why I will bleed it this evening). The noise was only when I was using the accelerator. It did not make noise when I let out of the pedal. Would anyone have an idea of what this could be before I pull the trans again or has anyone had a similar problem? It only makes a noticeable noise when I had had to bleed the clutch again. I have put 130 miles on it since the fix, so bleeding it is just a bug that I am trying to get 100% correct.

Hey guys. I am not the owner of a 1995 Cherokee. I guess two Comanches is not enough haha. Going to make it the farm jeep while I fix it up and then decide what to do with it later. My concern at the moment is the door hinges. They are pulling away from the body and need cleaned up and welded back. I figured that since I am doing this I will just make the doors easy enough to remove and put back on whenever I want, like a wrangler. Does anybody have any suggestions or a clean, easy way of doing this? Thanks in advance!

If anyone is needing some parts while they are in the area my brother and I have an '89 parts comanche and a '97 parts cherokee. We are about 7 minutes from the badlands so a quick fix could be in order for someone who needs it. Hope to see a lot of you out there!

I thought we had a troll on our hands when I first saw this topic

I really dig the neon signs! I am a farm toy collector. 1/64 and 1/16 are the main sizes I go for. Some are worth a lot of money and others are just special to me. Crawled a lot of miles in the house when I was younger with some of the toys I have....wore out a lot of jeans too.... haha. Now that I am older I wish that some toys were treated a little better than others when I was playing around. It is harder and harder to find a good Ertl farm toy anymore.

I have one in my 88 right now. I did it for the cup holders, but I like the idea of a zj more because I will have a bit more space for things since I do not have a hand brake. I also like the way it rolls off towards the dash. Haha...I like that. I have the same picture and can make it just about any size that I would like. There are a few others stored in my computer as well.
