  1. Pardon my ignorance, but how did you do that?
  2. Cool deal. Is your truck A/C equiped? I ask because depending on whether or not it is, the connector is in a slightly different spot.
  3. Hey y'all. I came upon some free time today and decided to go to the local pick a part. While looking around, I noticed that the alternator used on the old LT1 equipped Buick Roadmasters looks an awful lot like the one on my 87 2.5 non-a/c truck. I looked up the two alternators at my local parts place and came up with some interesting specs. Both take a 6 rib belt, both are internally regulated, both have the same connector type, and both have the mounting legs in the same spots. There are two differences. One is that the MJ unit has the connector clocked to the 7 o'clock position and the Roadmaster alternator has its connector at the 4:30 position. The other is that the MJ unit puts out 73A while the Roadmaster unit puts out 140A (?!?). Do you guys think it would be a big deal to modify/lengthen the connector to work with the Roadmaster unit?
  4. High quality oil and filters are essential, like Cruiser says. I run Wix filters and use 5-40 Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel oil in my Jeeps.
  5. Nice. lol I'll have to nut up and do it one of these days.
  6. thanks but i do got 1 question before i buy spacers tomorrow. yall say i need hubcentric how do that work with drums on the rear axle? Redwolf They'll sit on the axle shaft flange. It sticks out a little from the drum.
  7. I like MMO, but would NOT ise it as a lubricant for air tools. It has micro abrasives in it that may affect the tools. With that said, if I've used it on gunked up, noisy engines with good results; going so far as to use it to unstick the compression rings on an old ait cooled VW that had no compression. Ran fine afterwards.
  8. Cool truck and a great start!
  9. Build up on a cps will be at the tip of the sensor. That usually only happens with manual transmission equipped vehicles, though. I would go through Cruiser's tips. It sounds like you may have more than one issue. When I started reading your post, my knee jerk reaction was to say that your CPS is toast (my Jeep acted like that when the CPS died). Upon further reading though, you may have multiple issues...or a bad engine ground. Check it. It's right by the dipstick.
  10. They don't. The ZJ rears are closer in suspension design than the TJ, and they still don't completely bolt on. The coil buckets are different, though they share control arms.
  11. I'd go with an 8.8 because Artec. https://artecindustries.3dcartstores.com/mobile/TJ-88-Swap-Kit-with-Truss_p_233.html I'm also curious aa to how a Yota rear end would work in a Heep. The 2wd Taco rear ends came in 5x4.5 and have a pretty similar width to our rigs. They're also notoriously strong and have pretty high ground clearance.
  12. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they're safe. I just meant that I was afraid to fubar them, so I just bought a new pair.
  13. Take a file and grind two sides of them flat?
  14. You rehab'd your arms? You're brave! I just bit the bullet and bought some new ones from Oreiley's.
  15. $2.19 per gallon locally for regular.
  16. This thread is like a M. Night Shyamalan flick. Lots of twists!
  17. I don't know what A-Man used, but I use a ball joint press to install the axle side UCA bushings.
  18. Leverage. Go to your refrigerator and grab a gallon of milk. First, hold it tight against your body and see how long you can hold it. Then, hold it out away from you with one hand and see how long you can do that. Same concept with wheels and your bearings.
  19. Keep in mind that it IS possible to "outrun" cheaper LED lights and they can't be focused as tightly as halogens. This might cause some issues if you plan on using LED's on am overhead bar. This is what stopped me from going full LED for my auxilary lighting.
  20. OME Heavy Duty coils with RS9000's and if you want to get a bit stiffer ride with the same lift I like Rancho 2.5" coils (netted me 3" on my 2.5) with the aforenentioned RS9000's.
  21. Pretty much. I'm using the set up out of a 94 ZJ in my 87 2.5.
  22. Not to hijack the thread, but what are your thoughts on using 4 rear TJ flares of the FLAT/cutout variety on a MJ?
  23. I ran the ground of my homemade harness straight to battery ground. I also used 8ga wire. No problems during almost a year of daily use.
  24. They're still being made?!? I always liked the looks of those and the Ground Hawgs.
  25. I'm prerty jealous! If I may ask: Did you do a stock rebuild on your 2.5, or do you have a few surprises built into it?
