  1. I know about frams reputation but not about the anti drain back. Is there something wrong with that? From what I've been told, you WANT a good anti drain back valve. One of the flaws in the Fram design is their crappy valve design.

    Vandals :(

Thats not true. The truck didnt explode! I can picture Trevor and Corey trying to drill up into a gas tank. :D
  3. Sorry to bring this one back from so long ago...but is there any progress?
  4. I don't think ANY engine likes Fram's OCD (Orangr Can of Death). They've been known to fall apart and clog up oil passages, causing catastrophic failures.

Not to make light of y'all's situation, but this is almost like an episode out of the Trailerpark Boys...seen from the receiving end.
  6. And here I thought you were going to point out that the new Cherokee...isn't really a Cherokee. :D

That sucks. :-/ Sorry that you had to go through that.
  8. I don't know about the Purolators, but the Wix cans I use have some pretty beefy anti drainback valves on them.
  9. On my 2.5 MJ it's angled down. On my 4.0 ZJ it's pretty much parallel to the ground with the top of it pointing straight back.
  10. Come on...we all know that no Jeep is ever TRULY finished. :)
  11. Thanks Eagle! Very interesting reading. :)
  12. Nickel and a guitar pick worked like a charm for me! My Jazz III's are a quarter a piece! Too expensive to stack in my windows. lol
  13. I think that they DO imply that they want you to buy a Wix from then, but I think it gives a decent break down of the materials used and construction of some of the moat common filters available.
  14. I had a similar issue going on in mt ZJ. I had blocked CCV passages in my valve cover that was making oil go out the dipstick tube, making me think I had a RMS leak. The devil is in the details with Jeeps!
  15. Hello all. I recently came across a page that compares oil filters in relation to the Wix/NAPA units. The page IS a bit biased towards the Wix made filters, probably because that's what they sell. The cool thing about the page, though, is that they took the time to take apart the filters and show the construction of each. Here's the link: http://www.fleetfilter.com/comparison-purolator-filter.html
  16. Check out my build thread. I had a 2.25" downpipe bent up and flared to meet a 2.5" Magnaflow glasspack that directly feeds a 2.5" Magnaflow big case muffler. Quiet and deep at idle, deep and throaty under load, and best of all, no drone when cruising. Update: I got the Magnaflow 2.5" in/out a couple feet long...AWESOME sound and feel. no drone at highway speeds...super fun. Nice! Magnaflow makes good, hi-po mufflers with few of the hi-po muffler drawbacks. I'm glad you're enjoying it!
  17. Slam it! Keep it low to the ground. It'll offset your other one. :)
  18. Looks like you got a good one. Welcome aboard!
  19. Cool. Yeah, I've been thinking of using ZJ lamps for the same reason. What I was thinking was to make a copy of the back of the MJ lamps out of fiberglass and then use the plastic outside skin off of a set of zj lamps (millions of them at the local pick and pull places) to finish them off. If I do everything correctly, they should still mount in the stock manner and give the rear end a little bit of an update to boot. They should also wrap around the side like the stockers. The ZJ lamps have a very similar curve angle to the stock tail lamps.
  20. 4wd units have a 6 lug pattern, similar to Chevys. You CAN install the E locker center section into a 2wd housing with the 5x4.5 axles. :)
  21. I've got JK tail lights on mine, had considered WK tails but the JKs fit the truck better to my eye and my budget. Once I had trouble finding a decent set of MJ lights, I knew I didn't want to do it twice. I'll probably sell my MJ lamps eventually, but for now they're in a box. Did you build adapter plates to install them?
  22. I've toyed with the idea of using the back of a MJ taillight with the outside face off of a ZJ to come up with something more modern looking.
  23. I've never seen an '86 alt, but I've done that on my old Ramcharger and K5. An impact gun is handy for that.
  24. Remove the bolts, turn the back where you want it, reinstall the bolts. Nice! I CAN have my cake and eat it too! Thank you for the info. :)
