  1. A $2,400 quote over the phone without seeing it? Bad mechanic. He should have said, bring it in, we'll charge an hour or what it takes to do a diagnosis and go from there. You might need a new harness (which I doubt) but he's jumping the gun. There are some super knowledgeable folks here, we need more details, but try to tackle things one at a time. If yours is an 88, there is an electronic copy of the 88 electrical workshop manual kicking around somewhere. Also, if we know year/engine, etc. I'm sure folks here could post photos of their stock wiring so you can see for yourself how things are supposed to be (but the schematics are better LOL).
  2. OK, well I was looking some more and I can probably buy all the parts I need in 5/16". It's a little bigger but I don't see why it won't work. Did I mention I hate living in a small city?
  3. I found some 1/4" tie ends but the thread on them is 28 and now I can't find 28 threaded rod. Maybe I'll come across something along the way. Stroker, how long do you think it might take to do that? More or less than a month?
  4. Where would you drive that thing? 700 hp and nowhere to go.
  5. The 746's are supposed to be the bomb on the Renix engines. I have a set now, just haven't bothered to install them yet. Read this thread: http://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/1990-renix-volvo-bosch-19-280-155-746-injector-swap-163105/
  6. I own one of these tools, VERY handy to have. Oddly I did not use it when I refilled my Renix system LOL I used it on my Ford and whoo boy it's pretty slick. It literally sucks the new coolant right out of the jug and into the system, and yup the hoses collapse when they are vacuumed. 7. That thing was a beaut in '06!
  8. I noticed the Boostwerks guys have a spot at checkout to enter a coupon/promo code, I wonder if they would give CC'ers a discount? Who wants to ask? Incommando is sending orders their way already... Maybe Pete or a moderator could touch base with them??
  9. Wow the body is really beat to hell, not a panel without multiple dents. Good project though.
  10. I use flickr.com for photo sharing, mainly just for posting here.
  11. Pic is from an eBay listing. But this is what you guys really want to know: http://comancheclub.com/topic/14086-upgrading-to-a-gauge-package-w-column-shifter/
  12. p.s. Using cherokeeforum to host photos sucks because I see no way to hotlink to the photo. Normally you can include a photo in a post elsewhere, but they seem to have gone to great lengths to stop that. Boo. But thanks for sharing it cruiser.
  13. I don't know who or what a JD is but OK. Aha, now I know what it's actually called. Bi-metal temp sensor. Hmmm.... I guess if I was hardcore I could put the thing in my deep freeze, then install it quickly and see if it works right LOL. We'll see.... ;) BTW, I'm not missing any parts. But the hoses may have been plugged into the wrong ports. And yeah I kind of do live at the North Pole compared to you, I live in Canada LOL. The windchill can get in the -50's. Brutal stuff.
  14. FYI when a seller says that the A/C just needs to be recharged or topped up, it's usually a crock. What that really means is something is broken or there is a leak and it won't hold a charge, so it may get expensive.
  15. Like so (not my truck)
  16. Sweet. Need pics man. Does it change how the shifter rotates up as you pull it back?
  17. Pretty simple, how exactly does this little do-hickey work? One vacuum line coming out of it goes to the intake manifold I believe (it has suction when engine is running), the other vacuum line goes to the preheater valve thing that sucks air surrounding the exhaust manifold (this vacuum line only gets vacuum if this little do-hickey gives it vacuum). I removed mine to try and figure it out and see if it's working OK. Problem is I don't think it's doing anything. The long and short of it is I'm trying to get the preheater thing at the front of the air box to work right. I removed the two vacuum lines off the air box and put them together, but that just holds the preheater valve/flap open all the time and I don't want that. It's 31 degrees Celcius today so I was expecting the valve to close. Now that I study the pic, I think my two vacuum lines going into the little thing may have been on the wrong ports. The diagram makes me think the thermostatic controlled valve vacuum line should go to the port closest to the fender, and I think mine was the other way around... Hmm.... Oh and before someone tells me to not worry about it, the temps get down to -35 C in winter so I if I can have this thing warm up faster in winter, then I want this in working condition. I have the preheater hose from the exhaust up to the intake box where it goes, I'm just not certain that the valve/vacuum lines are working right. And unfortunately it's summer now so it's hard to test it since it's not really cold.
  18. That's a lot of blue. Personally I think it looks better with contrasting black bits (handles, bumper, mirrors).
  19. I'm in Canada, they do not have any way to buy online. I'll keep looking in the meantime...
  20. I went to 4 different stores in town today and no one carries those end pieces (rod ends, studs). All I could find was 1/4"-20 threaded rod & nuts. F'in small cities... Anywho, I thought I'd ask. Is anyone here interested in making and shipping me one of these? My OEM rod is way too long and I'd rather just pop on something like this so if I make changes down the road it will work right. Lemme know. :wrench:
  21. still too much in my opinion, but aftermarket or OEM as long as it works and the part numbers match, Redwolf $25-30 each seems to be the going rate. Yeah OEM/aftermarket doesn't matter a whole lot. Truth be told, I'm in my amber lenses for $92.96 after shipping, exchange, etc. $60 sounded good but it would up being a lot more in the end. Not sure I should have clicked the Buy button after all LOL but I think they look unique and good with the chrome bits.
  22. Here's an OEM lens on eBay right now, $29: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mopar-56000852-LAMP-PARK-AND-TURN-OEM-/180639786347?roken=cUgayN
