  1. 22 mpg is not uncommon. Trusting what the overhead says and going by it, very common on the net! Haha I used to get 25 with my 01 rclb 4x4.
  2. I really don't think it would have any trouble! :)
  3. The smallest lift long arm kit that is available is a 3.5" by Full Traction. I had a 3.5" lifted XJ and was told by IRon rock Offroad or Rubicon Express, can't remember which, that they would not recommend LA on anything shorter then a 4.5" lift. But those are from company's that probably just wanted to sell me a new LA kit! Ha
  4. Sir Sam would be able to get er dialed in I bet.
  5. Check out this tow rig. I took this pic at work a few years ago. Cat 793C in tow.
  6. No $#!&
  7. Also to add to this... Compare the tow ratings and payload ratings with the new half tons to 10 year old half tons and even 3/4 tons; you may be surprised!
  8. My thoughts. I have had a diesel tow rig and trailer for over 5 years. It is a very nice luxury. Always ready to hook up the trailer and go pick up some junk or load up the trail rig to go wheeling. Always knowing I have a ride home. I DDed my 01 cummins because it was cheaper to drive then my 00 lifted XJ. Used to get around 25 mpg. Today I have a 2012 Ram 2500 6.7 Cummins that stays in the garage till I need it. It's used for pulling my big trailer and road trips pretty much exclusively. It's ALOT of money invested but its sure nice to have a really nice rig for traveling/towing. I DD my 88 LWB MJ. I have a 10 mile drive to work and that's way to short of a run for a new diesel to make everyday. Mileage is no good on the new truck but that's a problem that can be fixed with the aftermarket. I love the power of a diesel whether towing or just using the truck for a trip across the country.
  9. I had one at one time. We have talked about it before on here. Parts for that engine ARE not cheap!
  10. I'd email and ask him why he stole your pic for his forsale ad. Make him feel like a dumass
  11. I've seen in the past with older remote start systems, this problem happening. I would be willing to bet that it has something to do with it!
  12. Liquid iron XJ frame stiffeners went on?!
  13. How bout some more pics?!
  14. You still should be able to manually shift the t-case with the linkage still attached. Use a beefy screw driver to manually shift the case.
  15. On a 2wd? I was able to drop the steering and track bar and the pan will come out with some jimmying.
  16. I like them Toyotas. Don't like following them on the trail cuz their Yota super low gearing! (aftermarket usually) I am aware that 85 pickups/runners are something special. Id have to have one fall in my lap before I'd consider buying one but I can appreciate a good well built machine.
  17. I agree. He would be better off parting.
  18. Without question, remove the DS!
  19. There's a few around town here. Rusted up but still on the road!
  20. Manual trans, black, mini, cousole; anybody?
  21. I'm not 'poor' but CL is very bad when I don't NEED anything. Seems everytime I log in and search for anything MJ related, it comes home. I stay the hell off there.
  22. Its only funny cuz its extremely sad. Lots of truth there. :rotfl2:
  23. Tom posted up anywhere yet with info?
  24. I would say no. I have a few Jeep club members that run XJ 44s in their TJs. They both are locked on 35s. Tubes not welded and no issues. For what you are going to be doing with the truck, IMO you will be fine. But on the other hand, it obviously cannot hurt!
  25. MJ with modern V8 drivetrain and ammenties. J-truck with 6.7 cummins 1st gen Libby with tracks for ice fishing
