  1. Thanks for all the compliments. I have yet to buy shocks for it though. I can't wait to take it out for a ride with my girlfriend because she is proud of it and me. I would like to return the favor of her hard work and devotion. She says "there's nothing like a ride in a old truck." I can't agree with her more myself![/b]
  2. Nice pics, where are you from? That background is awesome! Welcome to your "new" hobby!
  3. The website says if your year truck is not over '91 that it Will not fit and don't bother ordering. Has anyone tried this on a Renix motor yet? Let us all know because this is a good deal!!
  4. I don't know what the OEM sway bar was because I tossed it, but the one I put on was 26mm or 1 and 1/16". This is from a '93 Cherokee Country. I bought new Moog bushings for the new bar. I haven't driven it yet but I'm sure it will stiffin up the ride comprared to the old bar.
  5. Nice job, I like reding your project notes and great pics.
  6. Yeah I will agree it's nice but $30 is just the starting bid and a reserve is set so he probably wants more. A piece of history, but I woudn't go that far.
  7. So has anyone use some Monroe sensa-trac or Reflex shocks on a 3 inch lift? I just want to open the door to see if a shock for a different application would work. I know the K5 blazer shocks work for the rear but how about the front? Has anyone found a shock this? Quadratec says the application is for a Cherokee with a 4" lift. It would seem crazy to make a shock for this truck only, it would seem it would work for another truck with similar dimentions. My front end is measured at 20.5" from mount to mount so they are not far from stock I don't think. The back measures 26.5" from stud to stud.
  8. Good looking truck. The makeshift PVC snorkle is actually a nice job, to bad it had to go. It wasn't as clean as a stock one but it sure was genious. Nice to see another truck get some attention.
  9. I thought the tires were equivilent to 31", but they are 245/70/16. I bought them for my '01 XJ 60th anniversary edition so I kept the wheels and tires for the Comanche. I would like a little bigger tires but these are brand new.
  10. I do have an adjustable track bar underneath I ordered with my leaf springs from Hell Creek. I just have to line it up. I haven't seen the Raptor liner you mention, I will toss around the idea for sure! Thanks
  11. I have trying to find these shocks and all the parts stores say these part numbers don't exist? Are these special order numbers to build to specifications? Do you know what trucks these part numbers are for? I am trying to cross reference these numbers to see what other shocks can fit. Example: If the rear shocks are just plain old F150 shocks it would be easier to call and get a quote on them. No one besides Rancho lists a shock for the Comanche with a 3" lift. I called ARB and they said they don't list anything for a 3" lift. If anyone can tell me what these numbers cross to say a monroe number it would be easier to find. Thanks all!
  12. I have made great progress with the Jeep this week. I got the axle installed and the new brake hoses on. By the way they look I don't think I needed them though. They look stressed when the Jeep is at rest. The superlift 3" springs don't impress me yet. The truck sits low in the front. We'll see how they ride a little later. I had to rent the double flare tool from AZ again because the RF brake line broke and rusted about 6" from the end. I just cut off the bad section and flared a new end. I used a couple short lines for the fittings and used a coupler to join the new piece. It worked out good and with a little paint and undercoating it's done. So here are some pics in the back yard of a truck that actually moves under it's own power!! The front axle is a little off center so I will have to address that at the alignment shop. I have yet to order my shocks because I have been debating the limited choices based on cost. I still have to do a lot of work, but this is a great start. I have a lot of work to go, like getting a line-x bed liner put in, installing all the emblems and OE stickers to the exterior. I have to address that POS chineese antenna too in time. A sigh of relief at this point. :chillin:
  13. I got the truck on it's own 4 wheels last night. I put LCA's from a '93 cherokee in for now, until I can figure out what control arms I should I can go with. The WJ ones did not work for me because I am not willing to cut the axle mounting brackets to fit. I installed the steering and Cherokee sway bar and Moog steering stabalizer. I decided to go with Monroe Sensa-trac shocks because I can get them cheap so I can see what the ride is like. I have the new Superlift 3" coils and 3" Hell Creek springs out back. The truck sits 2" higher in the back so we'll have to see how it evens out. Overall I think the truck sits nice, when I put some weight in the back we'll see how it rides. I installed new brake hoses out front and the '93 cherokee calipers and brakes. I still have to bleed the brake fluid and pour in antifreeze after doing the water pump. Then I will take it to Belle Tire and align it. A good day indeed... Oh, did I mention that my girlfriend helped me re-install the front suspension? She bought a 2006 Grand Cherokee Limited with the Hemi yesterday so she's excited!!! That makes 4 Jeeps in my yard yesterday, I need a pole barn.
  14. I tried once again with a little more common sense and time to install the axle. It seems the WJ lower control arms are to big and contact the top. This will not allow the axle to rotate enough to bolt up the upper control arms. I don't know if this is just because they are new Dorman parts and they will not work? I have a few pics of this. I don't want to modify the axle mounting brackets so if this won't work I guess I will have to eat these and just order JKS adjustable lowers and call it a day. Let me know what you think. See the rotation of the pinion angle and distance between the upper mounts and control arms. I cannot get the axle to rotate and it's horizontal to the body. This pic shows the contact area and the axle is up much further than it's lowest point of travel and the pinion isn't rotated correctly yet either. Looks to me like I'm screwed and just wasted my money and time on these, I should have followed my gut feeling and just spent the money the first time and went with the adjustable ones. The hold up was thinking these would give you a better ride because they had rubber bushings instead of most adjustable ones with poly bushings.
  15. I want it! If I had won the lotto this would be my write up!
  16. Thanks for all the advice, I sure enjoy the responses and the interest. I do not want to rush the install so it may take days to get it done, but I always have that get it done now feeling. No need to cut corners now, I only drove it three times since I bought it last memorial day.

    Import Parts

I bought NEW Dorman replacement upper and lower control arms for my Jeep and one set is from China, and the other Tiawan. I thought Dorman was an American company?? :USAflag: If I knew that before ordering them, I wouldn't have. You can use the uppers for a yard dart there so light!
  18. Yeah, it's the only thing from getting the axle in, except more time that is. I did see a write up on the install of the control arms but I can't find it now, and the one I found didn't help much. I knew the busings need to be trimmed down but I still have had a little trouble with it. It's more of I just thought I would have it done by now, so it's just frustration that's all. With a little help it would be easier, I tried to install it myself last night but the axle fell off the jack stand and about killed me. That was the end of work that night. I try to do most everything on my own, but this isn't one of them to try yourself.
  19. Great truck, why is it that everyone needs more than 1 Jeep? It's a disease that we all have contracted and there's no cure except to buy more of them. Nice jeep and I hope the floors are perfect in it.
  20. :ack: :ack: :ack: thats worse than a normal hummer Are those supposed to hold fishing rods??? Where's the downriggers??
  21. My friend from work lent me the stands and a chain fall and I have a 14 inch steel beam in my garage to hang it from. The chain is long enough to reach the ground to pick it up. "Work smarter, not harder." Scrooge McDuck.
  22. The other day my girlfriend and I were going to install the front axle. It seemed like an easy job but with a leaking water pump it seemed to easy to change that first, without the axle in the way. It took us about 3 hours by the time we ran to the parts store for odds and ends. It was a great sucess and she learned to install a water pump for the future. By the time we got the water pump done there was little time to focus on the axle. The WJ lower control arms are a pita!! :fs1: They take an hour of grinding on them to fit right and I am not impressed yet. I don't like modifying a brand new part and hitting the nice new paint with a hammer just sucks. If they don't work out I am going to buy the XJ ones and just put them in. I wanted to have the axle in for my birthday (Today!) but that just wasn't in the cards. I guess good work takes time and I am in no hurry to drive it, but I sure would like to take a spin around the block!! I still have to install the new front brake hoses and calipers and bleed the system. I have to install the new pressure bottle and bleed system too. Lots of work, just have to have the time to. Later,
  23. Here's one for ya, http://detroit.craigslist.org/wyn/pts/1557483163.html
  24. It will take some work, going from a 5 speed to an auto. You will need the trans, trans computer and wiring in the passenger footwell. Throttle body for the kick down cable mounts. Linkage from the auto Jeep to trans The axles as said, 3.55 on the auto, 3.07's on the 5 speed. Is it a column shift? 4wd or 2wd? And of course, if 4wd what are you doing with the 5 speed tranny?
