  1. Holy popup man! Why are there so many ads and popups on your website? Is it cheaper to do this? I haven't ran a website so I have no idea, let us in on it if you can. Thanks for the info!
  2. Ya know I'm not a fan of colored interiors but that is awesome!!!! A similar interior was in a friends' dad's Bronco 2 and I really liked that one. A beautiful truck for sure. Sure a swap would be great for power but run it till you need to, not just because of all the hype. Those people that complain about the crappy 2.8 have 200k on theirs.
  3. I love that Jeep, the color is perfect, the bed cover is a cool idea and the tires and wheels are perfect. Throw in that diesel and you have one great MJ. Thanks for the pics!
  4. Has anyone done the swap for a newer 4.7HO V8? I think that would be such a smooth lightweight motor for a XJ or MJ. If so please post pictures because it would be such a great project and payoff. In another idea, don't rip into me to much for this one... http://f00.inventorspot.com/images/EcoB ... custom.jpg A new ECO Boost 3.5 Ford engine. A narrow 60 degree all alluminum block and heads with a turbo, 350hp and 350lb of torque out of a V6 with more room for cooling fans. Sounds like a great idea even for those '86 models without those firewall modifications. Just look at the reduced accessory drive, holy space batman! I know it's not a Jeep motor, but neither is the Hemi in my Grand. I like stock, but functionality is formost.
  5. This has really turned out to be an informative thread, sorry about starting all that mess. It was probably in good humor, but I was really looking for answers too. I didn't think any place made to fit, that's cool. Here's a thought, if you find a Comanche with a shell running around hunt them down to ask them if they would't mind selling it. It's worth a shot, and if not maybe they will know if someone is selling one! Thanks for all the replies and information.
  6. Just an update... Still waiting on my new softer front springs from Motion. I got my Grand Cherokee stuck in my neighbors yard last night trying to move around my red parts Comanche. :rotf: Oops! Luckily my girlfriend was helping me so she pulled me out with her Grand. I thought of using my (black) Comanche, but without 4wd yet it would be just laughter, although the thought had crossed my mind. It was just sitting in the garage with a frown because it couldn't help. :(
  7. Awesome, thanks for your definitive answer.
  8. I have asked that very question, lets see if anyone has the "REAL" answer... There are no dumb questions, but there's always a smart a** reply. Figure that one out.
  9. I consider anyone that does not work at a buisness performing automotive repair is a shadetree mechanic. I used to work at a couple automotive places and still consider myself a shadetree because it's my hobby. I liked the work but I enjoy it more at home. I do miss the hoist though, and I plan on building a new pole barn complete with a lift. There are many types, working on the ground in the dead of winter to living in Phoenix working in an air conditioned pole barn with a lift and $30,000 of tools for the job. I commend everyone who appreciates and enjoys their work, no matter what the budget. To those with a vision large or small, for it is the end result that's worth the effort.
  10. Yes I would like if you were to look for one in good shape. Thanks
  11. I need one steel insert plug for my bed. The one that is right under the rear window about 4"x1.5". Does anyone know where to buy these or have a rust free one to sell? Thanks,
  12. :hijack: Well, how about the old school "Shade Tree Mechanic" show? That was a real auto show. They took their time explaining what they were doing and they were really mechanics. I did like Stacey from Trucks and that is still my favorite Powerblock TV show. Oh, did I mention I hate that blonde on the show, she is more suited for a photograph model.
  13. That is some great feedback guys, thanks very much. This info has been very benneficial to selecting my new springs! Thanks Now to shell out some more money... :ack:
  14. I am using BDS 7500 series shocks. The shocks seem to handle good, but I haven't given thorough drive test yet. There is a listing for a 3" spring on the OME site, but what spring rate is the HD one? The earlier reading says 148lb, but that does not mention the HD springs. I really don't think I need HD springs so can I buy regular 148lb springs with a 3" lift? Thanks,
  15. I have 3" Superlift front springs and they are to stiff for me. What 3" springs are softer and provide a nice on-road ride? I have read through posts but I am not convinced after reading. Specs for the springs would be great but most companies don't post this info. I don't have a heavy bumper or winch and really don't plan on it so the lightest springs compared to factory would be great! Thanks for all your help in advance.
  16. I never heard of a Torchmate. Is it a company or a product? Do they do custom fabricating and make those bumpers to buy?
  17. I bought it from JCR offroad then had it painted to match with the truck. I like the clean look of it. I am still debating on which front brush guard to go with. I like the one on the "Cheap Cherokee" build on the show TRUCKS!, but they haven't emailed me back on how/who built it for them.
  18. I know this topic has been around before, but I really want a line-x bed liner, but I stopped by today (Bay City, MI) and they quoted me $500! I think they are crazy for a small bed like the Comanche. What do they charge for a full size bed, $800? I am going to call Mount Pleasant to see if they are any cheaper because I don't think that is a satisfactory price. I am willing to pay $350 for it or even 4, but not 500. Has anyone had a line-x bedliner put in and how much? Thanks
  19. I got the new BDS shocks installed yesterday. Some assembly required. The shocks don't come with boots but the dealer I bought them from threw them in. You have to press out the mounting feet on the front shocks to put the boots on. Then you have to press in the bushings on the rears. Like any truck doesn't need them? They went great after that, then I had to put on the stickers. Here are some photos of the work. I adjusted the new trac bar and front suspension to measurment and to eye, then I took it to Belle Tire and aligned it. The toe was perfect, just had to adjust the drag link to line up the steering wheel. The Hunter alignment machine there is perfect. It drove great, a bit stiff for me so I am selling the new Superlift springs on the front and getting some softer ones. I will post them in the For Sale section soon. Just for kicks I took some pics of the interior, I have to Dynamat the whole thing and install a radio and headliner. A cool stance pic from the back and a pic of a couple of my Jeeps. Well a good day indeed I'd say...
  20. Those are some pretty cool drawings. I told my girlfriend about the "Make your Jeep in Paint" thread. A year or so ago she made a paint project for me that I thought was a picture so I knew she had mad skills on paint. She said "I'll give it a shot!" I thought she would take a week or so to get it done. After 7 hours staying up last night this is what she made: She is so talented
  21. I finally put my tools in my new tool box. I ordered my shocks too, BDS 9500 series. They are stainless steel so they won't rust. I called BDS after 5pm on Monday and they were still open! They are also a Michigan company which I like a lot. They suggested the shocks and I called my local distributer and they should be in on Wednesday. Sweet!!! Now, anyone want to buy a '89 Comanche Pioneer, 4.0L AW4 on column, 231 transfer case? It was my donar truck which I only used the rear axle because I decided to go with a 5 speed after all. I will post pics in the sale section soon. (Midland MI)
  22. I don't know your budget but Subaru is high on my list. They have the best AWD system and they are roomy. The gas mileage might not be as good as others but you get AWD and that's a plus in my book. I would look for one with the H6 instead of the 4 banger unless it's a turbo like a WRX wagon, that would haul the misses along nicely.
  23. The parts store should have them in the "HELP" section. If not let me know and I may be able to help you out.
  24. This is what you need. http://www.quadratec.com/products/52106_03.htm It says a different model, but it WILL fit. I ordered one for my Comanche when I bought it and it fit perfect.
