track bar bushing(s) which one?
knever3 replied to thejum57's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
In my case the bushing on my new one was a 2 piece. The old OE bar was a one piece pressed in with the sleeve inside. I would think either one would work, you just have to get the old one out. The two piece poly bushing is the way to go in my opinion because it hangs over each side. Put it this way, if you have a stock bar you can't go wrong with a Moog part. -
In case you didn't notice, I had Line-X spray my bed liner yesterday. They did an excellent job, here are some before and after pics. Oh, I forgot, I put my new Motion Off Road front springs in too. They ride a little better than the superlift ones but I have heavy shocks on there plus a stiff roll bar. I will need to put a little weight in the bed to settle it down.

A lot of progress in the last month. I got the 4.0 litre badge and the Comanche badges on. Thanks for the replies for adhesive, the 3M moulding tape worked awesome! I used a exacto-knife to cut out the letters. My girlfriend helped me align the badges taking measurements. Here are some pics: I also shined up a set of front tow hooks I ran across on CL. The install went great on these too, I used new grade 8 bolts too. And if that's not enough, I put my stickers on the back of the tailgate. I bought them online from a guy in Canada. They are reflective so they have more visability at night. Here are those: The reflection looks crazy on a camera flash!!

I looked over the website and they don't have individual pinned style metal letters like my '87 does. I wish they did, if I missed something let me know because I would like to buy new.

Mine are severly pitted and the paint is gone around the edges. I tried repainting the edges and it didn't turn out the way I wanted it. If anyone has a nice set I would be interested in buying them. Thanks

I would like to buy new JEEP pinned style OEM emblems for my hood. Does anyone make these still or has anyone got a perfect set they would like to sell. I have two sets that aren't in great condition. I have a '87 Comanche. Thanks

I would like to buy a Fiberglass topper for my Comanche shortbox. I want a direct fit Leer or Brahma, either tall topper or short I would consider. I am willing to travel if there is a nice one available in or near Michigan.

They should be normal 3/16" line fittings. I replaced the rear hose and rear lines to the wheel cylinders on my dana 35, but they should be the same. If you don't think they are just call the parts store and ask them what size the fitting is on the replacement wheel cylinders. I rented the double flare tool at autozone for free and made them myself, very nice clean install with great results. Advance auto should have the same rental tools,if not the flare tool is only around $30.

I have a new set of 2 inch Rubicon Express ones I never used because I went with new springs. I know they are cheap, but if you would like to buy mine instead have at it! I bought them for $35 plus shipping, so I will sell them for $25 plus shipping if you want them. Let me know,

So I have been looking for a steel bed plug for my MJ. The dealer says they don't make them anymore so I have been calling JY's for them. Here is my story: I called a JY in OIL CITY this morning, they said they had "A" Comanche that the bed was beat up. I asked him if the bed had the steel plugs in it. (The ones on either side under the slider window.) He said I don't know what you are talking about you'll have to come look. So I threw the Garmin in the "other" Jeep and headed off. When I got there I said I wanted to see that Comanche he said was there. He said "I can't take you back there today, I'm by myself." I didn't know what to say so I said, ok I'll just drive back and take a look. He said that was not possible due to insurance regulations. So my question is: "WHY ARE YOU EVEN OPEN!!!" He said "If I had known you were going to come out I would have told you don't bother and wait till Monday." Just my two cents: If you would have gotten off your but and looked for me we wouldn't have this conversation idiot. I hate the government, lawyers and all they stand for, all they did was ruin it for the rest of us. Don't get me wrong, everyone needs a job and a career, but if the world wasn't so cruel we could create other jobs that aren't so emotionally trying. If people were all honest there would be no use for any of this, if a car falls on you out in the JY and you sue them because you're stupid for working on a car without jack stands that's your fault and you should be entitled to nothing. If they had a waiver form you could sign I would certainly sign it. What happened to the days when you could just roam around the jard because you would just like to look around? So if anyone knows of a plug please let me know so I can get the bed Line-X'd. It's the only thing I am waiting for.

Great job, can't wait to see the install on those rock guards, JCR does make some great parts, I have their rear bumper and I love it. I just would like to take credit for it because I get so many compliments on it.

Nuts??? are they the flat steel speed nuts? If so I will have to buy those too, thanks for the response all"!

What adhesive tape do you use when installing the Comanche badge, 4x4 badge, 4.0 litre badge and the PINNED JEEP hood badges? Brand or direct links would help instead of just genaric terms. Do you use glue on the Hood JEEP or adhesive? Thanks!

It looks like I need the 33 tooth one. I have 3.55 rear end, ba/10 2wd trans, and 29.5 inch tires. I changed the rear end, I used to have 3.07 gears and I am slowly converting to 4wd. When I get a 4wd trans will the same gear work in the ax-15? Let me know if you have one and I will buy it from you, Thanks!
-
I thought so, how do I find out what kind of spedo gear I need? I did have 3.07 gears before, but that shouldn't mean anything for the trans right? I guess I can see it. Do they sell the right one I need? What chart?

That's ok, does anyone else have one? Or better yet, does anyone still make them new? Thanks again!

My girlfriend and I went for a nice 1st ride in the new and improved MJ. :driving: We picked up a nice leather couch and sofa for her house. I am so glad she found leather, she really wanted it. She got a nice deal on it too! :nanner: So here is my MJ earning it's keep today:

My '01 XJ had those rims, until I sold it and kept the wheels and tires. Now they have a new home... :D

I think my spedometer is reading to high. I changed out the gauge cluster. The donar truck was a auto 4.0L XJ and mine is a ba-10/5 with 3.55 gears. I have 245-70/16 on it. I think the spedometer is reading to high, usually they read low because the tires are larger than stock size. Has anyone ran across this? I am thinking about 10 mph off at 70mph.

Any luck anyone???

I was going for something with an aluminum block and head design. There are plenty of boat anchor iron block V8's out there, but with aluminum and more horsepower would make a nice daily driver for sure. I saw someone putting a LS1 in, that's similar to what I am talking about. As I remember he cut out the firewall and it was huge, thus the idea about the ECOBoost engine. Power to weight ratio. Great responses!

I am really thinking of those Yoko Geo M/T's myself. I really like the tread design and the price is cheap compared to BFG A/T's. Don't you have a local tire place in town? Discount or Belle Tire? They should be able to get them for the same price.
