  1. I am going to get a lot of grief for this one, but here goes... I want a Jeep with a VW Toureg V10 TDI with GM 14 bolt front and rear axles. Extreme 4x4 built a steering 14 bolt one time. A T56 6 speed with a Atlas transfercase would do the trick. Of course a Advance Adapters kit would be required, but with a little money this could come together. For the back a 4 link with a panhard bar would be necessary and if you could convert to coil over shocks all the better. The problem would be hooking up all that torque so a limited slip rear end with a air locker would be a must. And for good measure throw a locker in front. This would require total stiffening of the unit body front section continuing on back, but with the right tools this could be the best performing Jeep of all time. So most of you are saying that would never fit in a Comanche, ok you got me. Give me a Jeep J-20 to start with and i'll keep my Comanche the way it is!!
  2. I am going to use a Zapco studio 204, front two channels on my Diamond Audio 5-1/4" components in the doors and bridge the rear two channels to run the 10" sub. The sub is rated at 200 watts RMS so 150 from a quality amp should be just right, if not I still have a studio 500. :D
  3. $165 from one company when I googled it. Yes lots of companies make these subs but soundstream is the most shallow driver made and it costs much less than the JL audio sub at around $400 for the sub alone. Soundstream used to be one of the most winning sound off companies in the U.S, but as usual they went bankrupt and someone bought them out. I still think it's worth a listen.
  4. I think I found my perfect setup. It's from a new/old company called Soundstream. This is the perfect fit box and sub. It's small and very narrow to fit behind the seat without the usual compromise of moving your seat forward. The sub is only 2" deep and it's made of aluminum, even the cone! So I think I will try one and see how it performs. The box is 30" wide 14.5" tall 2.4" deep on top and only 5" on bottom. Here goes: http://soundstream.com/AudioProducts/Su ... tealth.htm The box is at the bottom of the page. Any interest anyone?
  5. This is hilarious!!
  6.   If I had only known, I would have been there, maybe next time. Thanks and I look forward to more pictures.
  7. Don, your truck is so nice I can't look away!!
  8. OMG! I am so jealous!! :ack:
  9. :agree: There is a happy medium with going to a new exhaust. I would run the stock 2" size to a single inlet and dual outlet muffler so you can have your dual exhaust at the back. So you can have your cake and eat it too!!
  10. I have all the rubber flaps on mine and the interior isn't finished yet. When someone is outside talking it seems like they are right in the truck!!! I am planning on using foam and dynamat to dampen the noise but allow the air to escape when the doors are shut. I should be able to get to it this week. I understand what you are saying and it's quite a design flaw, but they sure do look cool!! The normal way of using these vents is between the door jam or on the bottom backside of the cab, Jeep thought what the hang let 'em show!!
  11. I own a '06 Grand and it's everything I want in a daily driver. For the winter I would like to upgrade the rubber and possibly a 2" lift. My current dealer installed Goodyear Wrangler tires are completely JUNK, I got stuck in my neighbor's driveway trying to pull out my donar Comanche. Luckily my girlfriend and her '06 grand was there to pull me out. (Her truck has Michelin LTX M/S tires) All the while my black Comanche was sitting in the garage looking the part. It is much quieter than my Cherokees, but it isn't as versitle off road. The limited slip type of 4wd system is strange and hard to get used to. That said if I had better tires this wouldn't be as bad. The Hemi power is awesome, just wish I had that engine in my '01 Cherokee. That would be great. 14 MPG is average and I wouldn't trade it for anything for a daily driver winter or summer.
  12. After seeing the inside how it's made Royal Purple pure synthetic filters I have a NEW best filter. I always use AMS oil filters because they were the best, now they have been trumped. Royal Purple synthetic filters are a ULTRA Premium filter they say and I believe them. As for Oriley's Auto, I stopped in there and I wasn't impressed with the store products but the people were very helpful, I like Advance because they have name brand parts and that's what I trust. No Durolast for my truck even if it may be a similar part. They don't have MJ's listed but you can cross reference the number or use the Ford 5.0 filter. Check them out: http://www.royalpurple.com/rp-oil-filter.html
  13. I disagree with the safety issue, when a 10" drop reciever is installed I will take another video with a trailer connected. I know that a good amount of people would lift their truck and my 3" isn't a large lift by any means. To be completely frank I LOVE the way the bumper looks painted to match my truck, the fit is excellent and the style is just what I was looking for. The ONLY gripe is using the wrong stock to create an awesome bumper. (There are plenty of ways to fix it) Well sure, but woudn't it be better if the right stock were used instead of patching a known problem? (At the customer's expense! :headpop: ) If I were to plan on hauling heavy loads I would have it cut out and the right stock welded in, but because it's already painted it isn't worth my time or money. The bumper's build quality is second to none, I just wanted to see if I had a pre-production or one off piece so no one else needs to worry about towing. I understand about load testing the hitch from where I work red tape gets in the way of progress too. My only reason for the call was to inform the company for future bumper builds that the stock is readily available so this doesn't become a concern about buying a quality product made in the USA.
  14. I am anxious to see what the topper looks like too!! Nice job.

    Police packages

Bragging rights! I don't know about you, but I never felt safe over 85mph in my Cherokee. Plus it didn't have the power to push the brick through the air. They also had 10 inch drums out back to help you stop from that unobtainable speed.
  16. Yeah you are right, the safety chain hookups are on the backside of the hitch. Yes the hole is for a 2" reciever hitch, but they don't recommend towing with it.
  17. UPDATE I called JCR and this is what they said: Question: Are you aware of the problem with your bumper with relation to the correct size reciever stock? (Meaning they use 2-1/2" 3/16" wall square tubing for their reciever mount in their bumper instead of the usual 2-1/2" 1/4" wall tubing.) Answer: Yes we are aware and we DO NOT intend these bumpers to be used as a reciever class 3 hitch. Question: Why not, and why is there a hole in the bumper for a 2: reciever hitch? Answer: We would have to purchase the special reciever stock and our metal supplier doesn't have it, plus if you can believe it Reese has a patent on it. (Can you believe that!) Question: I don't understand, :hmm: the local trailer place has square stock on their shelf in lengths of 12,18,24,36, and 48" that's 2-1/2" 1/4 wall tubing designed for class 3 hitch material. Answer: Well, we never intended it for a real trailer hitch, if you wanted to tow something you should buy a "REAL" class 3 trailer hitch mount under our bumper. We would have to pay thousands of dollars to have the bumper and hitch load tested and qualified for tow ratings. Question: Why don't you put a disclaimer on your website stating "NOT TO BE USED AS A CLASS 3 HITCH" because I feel mislead on buying a bumper with a class 3 2" reciever hole in the bumper that is useless! Their Question: What can we do to make you happy? My Answer: Build it right with the right material so if someone wanted to use the hitch for towing they could but you wouldn't be directly liable if stated on your website. Their Question: Would you like a voucher for your next purchase to make it up to you? My Answer: No, I just want my $300 bumper to be made the right way and not have to pay for a "Fix" to get by because you didn't use the right material. So if you intend to pull a substantial load don't use this bumper to tow it with.
  18. Boy, you could have picked up a set for me, way to rub it in my face. Good find at the JY, I haven't had any luck with the ones around me, they won't let you roam around anymore. I'll have to keep looking for a good JY to go picking.
  19. Very good, first guess gets it!!! I have a few things to run around to get tomorrow. I will pull some power door lock solenoids out of a Cherokee to add power locks. I will use a alarm system to remote open the locks. I have to buy some speaker wire for the speakers in the doors too.
  20. I have my eye on those ebay items, just hope no one else does!!! I still would like two pair, one for the front so can you still ask your buddy if he still has some left? Thanks
  21. I want them!!!! Will you sell them? Do you have two pair? Let me know because that's what I am looking for. I like both styles so either would be great. Thanks for the picture!!

I would like to buy some Jensen Accusound Speaker Grills that were used on early Cherokee and Grand Wagoneer models. I need one pair of grills in great condition I can paint to match. If anyone is going to the 'yard and runs by a pair I will pay them for their time. Thanks
  23. Obviously, they used the wrong tubing to build the receiver. Square structural steel tubing, unlike pipe, is specified by the outside dimension, not the inside dimension. The hitch adapter itself is made using 2" tubing, and it should measure pretty close to exactly 2". The receiver has to be some larger size, and then the inside clear dimension is arrived at by subtracting the wall thickness (times two) from the nominal outside dimension. I just measured the factory Mopar hitches on two of my Cherokees. The receiver tube is a nominal 2-1/2" with 1/4" wall thickness, which results in a pretty close fit with a 2" hitch adapter. The people who made your bumper must have used 3/16" wall tubing instead of 1/4" to save some bucks. Not good, IMHO. I think you hit the nail on the head Eagle. I emailed JCR today and we'll see what their reply is because I don't want to use the bumper to tow with if it is made of this weak material, not to mention what could happen if someone towed a long trailer with a 10" drop! I am not pleased with this and wish I would have found out before it was painted and mounted on the truck. :fs1: The company may not even know what they did wrong.
