Thanks for the link but he's looking for the build sheet for the car which shows the option codes etc. I may have not been so clear in my post.

I adjusted the linkage per the directions but I think it's to sloppy and won't travel into 2wd after adjustment. I have a linkage for a 231 from a '93 cherokee I think that's the same. If I am wrong please feel free to let me know.

Wow you're right, I guess I took ownership and didn't give credit where it's due.   Isn't she great...

Thank you, that's so cool to see what options they have like "9 extra gallons of gas".

Can someone please look up this for me? I just bought a donor truck for my project and would like to know the options the truck had. 1J4FJ87L3LL287028 Thanks very much!!!

It's pretty much rust free, I haven't got a chance to look into it yet but I thought I would get some good ideas from you guys before tackling it. If it's out of adjustment why can you cycle through all gears and back and not get anyone to sync up? I was thinking shifter fork or something?? I haven't looked into the case so I don't know exactly how they operate.

I just got a '90 XJ for a donor and when I shifted out of 2wd all I heard was the gears trying to engage and free spinning. I have the NP242 transfer case. I tried 4 FT, 4 PT and 4Lo then back into 2wd. Nothing the truck wouldn't move. I hope this is only linkage related, anyone have this problem and what possible scenarios could it be??

The truck or the lift? What capacity?

My friend is working on his own restoration project, can someone please run me a vin so he can find out what options are on this car? He already has the carfax and autocheck reports. VIN 1G3GK11YXHR312157 Thanks!!

I have been very blessed this year. Last year as some of you remember my girlfriend got me a LARGE Craftsman tool box. This year my fiance got me this...

What does the alarm remote say? If there's a brand name or something I can go on I could help more. If they added remote locks it's a full alarm. They probably used aftermarket actuators and a relay pack. As for the thing locking on you it's probably set up for "passive locking" this means if left for a time period the locks lock along with setting the alarm. This sucks if you leave your keys in the car and shut the door to go into a 7-11. Question: Can you lock and unlock the doors while the car is on? Unless it was a factory added alarm the alarm will not lock the doors at a certain speed because it's not connected to anything. Usually you can program these annoying things out of the logic. I understand the frustration about the language barrier. How about scanning the pages into a google document and then use google translate??

Well as for the Skoda it maybe a over sensitive shock sensor if it has one. If my car sits out by the road a motorcycle or loud truck passing by will set it off from 20 feet away. If it's a cheap voltage sensing alarm, the one that connects to your interior light and has an alarm siren only they are hard to troubleshoot minor voltage spikes from computers/clocks etc. As for the XJ I have professionally installed them for years and I like to install the brain under the steering column. Securily mount the shock sensor with a strong zip tie to the steering column. The siren usually mounts near the battery or firewall. It's mounted with three self tapping screws but be sure to put silicone on the firewall before. I wish I had pictures of mine, it takes some time to make them nice but it's worth it.

Just a couple inches in central Michigan, no where near what we used to get every year. It's getting difficult to say if we will have snow for Christmas every year. The past five years it has rained in winter because some days would warm up so much. Where has the snow gone??

1990 Rebirth ('97 Conversion)
knever3 replied to Rymanrph's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Good work, it's a long road but it's worth the effort in the end!! As for me I like the old style dash, I had two XJ's and I liked the new style too, just in an XJ. I have seen a few of these done and the only thing I would change is the steering column surround plastic. It's wayyyy to large and doesn't seem to fit the interior. I never took mine apart but come on, does it really have to be that big? -
Project "Black Betty"
knever3 replied to shelbyluvv's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
That's a new spin on something, I like the idea of molding the two together. I have seen a MJ with the ZJ dash installed but I am a fan of the old dash. If I wanted it to look like a Grand I'd buy one. This is a great idea thanks for the pics. -
I am going to add power locks to mine also. I am going a different way though. I am not going to mess with the automatic switches inside or the OEM wiring. I am going to use a alarm system that I got for free and use the keyless entry only. I got a set of actuators and the plugs with wires around 6", and the actuating rods that go to the lock cylinders from a junk yard. I will wire the alarm system power, ground, keyless entry, and domelight supervision. This later option is nice when you shut off your truck the dome lights come on for 30 seconds so you can see around. It also turns the dome light on for 30 seconds when you unlock your doors with the remote. So, a long story short the power locks will only be actuated by the remote control because how many times do you use the switches in the truck if you have a remote?? Pretty much any used keyless entry or security system will work, just food for thought!!

Installing an aftermarket stereo
knever3 replied to cicelyak's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
A wire harness will make the job much easier indeed. The Jeep wire colors aren't easy to follow and if you want to switch radios in the future it will be a lot easier with the harness. As for the dash mount the factory has supplied a steel bracket that slides into the dash on top. You will have to drill new holes in the bracket but the radio gets mounted without a trim ring behind the factory dash. If done well it looks great. Pay attention to how much reveal the radio face in relation to the steel bracket and locate the new holes to drill for the aftermarket one. Good luck! -
Use a little heat like a heat gun or hair dryer and use a piece of dental floss to get behind it to cut the adhesive then use goo gone or WD-40 to remove residue.

Pictures please!!! Ok, so are there rebuild kits like the springs?
-
My seatbelts are slow to retract and it's getting very annoying. What is there I can do to make these "suck" back in faster. I can't stand having to feed it everytime I get out of the truck. My belts are in excellent condition so a change of belts wouldn't be a good option. Is there a spring that can be replaced or something??

Is the aw4 the same with the exception of the electric speedo and spline count from '91 on up compared to pre '91? Is the aw4's TCU and harness completely stand alone? If not exactly how (with pictures please) do these integrate with the engine harness/body harness. The reason I am asking is I am having trouble finding a '87-'90 donor for my project. I hope this thread clears up some of my constant confusion.

Great work, it's so nice to see some pictures of a build, it seems the club has really slowed down this year. Keep it up!! -

Motion offroad bolt on SOA opinions
knever3 replied to Hick's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I know I don't have room to talk but for Motion they can't make a "Custom" bolt on kit for all situations. Would you rather have a slight pinion angle problem or a sloppy rear end that's not "keyed in" like they mention. I agree if all things were to be perfect welded is the way to go and a custom driveshaft made up. With these old trucks and how people use them if you're not cruising on the highway all day with respect to vibration slow wheeling won't cause vibs. Take it for what it's worth, buy it or not, thankfully someone offers options we normally won't have. There will always be critics and that's why this forum is so helpful, making educated decisions based on others experience, and I respect that. -

I saw the first thing on your list was to "build" a small sub box. I am a car audio enthusiast and I have built many boxes, I decided to buy this instead. I can't buy a speaker and make the box for this price. I have yet to install it but this winter is the plan. I will be running mine with a Zapco studio 204. Here is the link to their site: http://soundstream.com/AudioProducts/Su ... tealth.htm Here is the best deal on the product: http://www.buy.com/prod/soundstream-sha ... 44765.html
