  1. Do you let him smoke in the house? Rob
  2. Whoa... Police can only do so much with information they have. I would say that right now, with the "evidence" showing back up in a place that most likely has cameras, records, and other helpful stuff, that the police have a very good shot at putting the pieces together. Rob
  3. Does the pawn shop know the stuff is yours? I would make sure they don't sell it and let them know. Without being caught, there is no way for the PD to go forward. The pawn shop should also have a record of how much they paid and to whom. Might lead you to the person that sold it to the pawn shop, which might lead you to the tools from your iraq buddy. I would be sure to work in the part about your buddies tools too. Might help the police work a little harder knowing that tools left to you by a war vet were stolen, and that a patriot was involved. If you don't get the results you seek, news crews are always looking for the stories that tug on the heart strings. If I were in your shoes, as soon as I verified the stuff was at the pawn shop, I have already been at the local and the other PD asking for help. I wouldn't be able to get there fast enough. Rob
  4. I would still notify the police. Your local one that started the report, and the ones in the town where the pawn shop is at so they know the pawn shop is selling stolen stuff. Rob
  5. The one thing that the PO did get right was he could take a mean video of it, and was pretty good at editing them. Too bad that he never cleaned the thing out, or took care of it. I can't tell you how unhappy I was to be pulling sand, hair, and mud out of the axles and trans. 26p2A53JiOY Yq80FYtC-_A Rob
  6. Well, still waiting on some stuff for the diesel, waiting on the weather to break to paint and prep the farmer... So the MJ I got for Christmas is finally getting some love. It started out as a used Axial SCX10 scale rock crawler. The room mate took it apart in prep to fix it up, but after letting it sit, lost motivation and sold it to me as a partial gift. Plans are to rebuild the entire thing with all new bearings, re-wire it, paint here and there, and use a new screw kit to put it together. I've had a thread going on the rc crawler forum, but figured I would post some highlights here. It's fun working on one of my MJ's while sitting on the couch watching tube. What it looked like when he ran it last: What it looked like when I got it: Trans taken apart, found no grease and a lot of rust: Taking the axles apart to put new bearings and grease: Table top hot tank in a dawn bath: Washed up and drying: New bearings: All coming back together: While all this has been going on, I became more and more dissatisfied with the paint job that the previous owner did. I have a clean body that I will paint, but I want to keep that one nice. So it was time to dirty up the "Wheeler" body. I took off the ridiculous mudflaps, the "Texas house of representatives" stickers on the doors, and all those stupid lights. I taped off the door and fender, and shot them with some red. To add to the effect of the "Junkyard" fender and door, I added some Pioneer stripes, and some lettering from the junkyard. I also primered the rockers and cab corners to represent the midwest. The window got a smattering of decals, and some bars to make it look like a slider too. And that's where it sits for now! Waiting on a couple small screws and such, but once I get those, I'll have it all together and give it a run. Rob
  7. Yep. That be the way to go. If you don't have a spare extension, just head to the local auto part store. They should have some couple buck chinese extensions just begging to become your specialty tool. Rob
  8. Ah, the BA 10/5 transmission. That plug is an odd size. You are supposed to have to use a special tool to open it up. I just took an old crappy 3/8" or 1/2" (Can't remember which) extension and ground it down until it fit. Works great. Rob

    Not yet?

Were the Yugo's really That bad? Rob
  10. Just use a hole saw and put it back in. That's the wiring for the rear of the truck. You can lose that parking brake cable too if your parking brake is inop. Some have made the Cherokee parking brake work in an MJ. (Console mounted) Rob
  11. That's Jason, or H3RESQ here. Rob
  12. Let me know when you are ready to burn 'em in. I can swing by and help you get the welder going. Rob
  13. I do a lot of welding at work. If you want I can come over one weekend and give you a hand, maybe teach you some tips and tricks. Best tip of all is that a welder is only as good as his grinder. It's all in the prep. Get that right and you are all down hill. Rob
  14. Good to see you were able to keep it. Glad to see you here. Let me know if you need anything, there is a good bunch of locals around us. Rob
  15. Don't have any kit suggestions, but this thread should give you some ideas: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=8975&hilit=camper+carpet Rob
  16.
  17. I hate you so much. :fs2: But, I like this little guy a lot, so here's another just for fun. :fs2: Looking great. I can't wait to see what you end up turning out on this. Should be pretty killer. Most of this madness started when we were feeding ideas off each other, and I told Ben about this idea I had to find a Wildernest and make a trailer. Then like the jerk he is, he starts falling into all of this. Should be awesome Ben. Subscribed. Rob :fs2:
  18. My insurance agent tossed out the classic insurance too. She told me it was some crazy number, like $66 every six months. She said the only caveat to that is that State Farm sends a dude out and he decides whether or not it would qualify. It doesn't cost anything to have them try though, so once I get the big issues taken care of with the diesel, I'll give it a shot. Rob
  19. Full coverage. For the small amount more on a truck so old, it's almost stupid not to. Rob
  20. I feel ya. The station I listen to in the Chicagoland area you can tell is creeping up the years though. Now Bad Company, Seger, Zepplin, Redding, and The Stones have friends like Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam and the like. Awesome mix for just a radio station. They have no morning show, no contests, no gimmicks. Just great music. They highlight artists, have music back stories, play entire album sides, as well as one forty five at 1:45 every day. Once a year they throw a huge free concert for the listeners. I like it a lot. http://www.wdrv.com/home.php Rob
  21. *Results will vary. If I was able to get the KBB price for all my MJ's... I'd be a rich man. Actual values around here that I would project here in IL/WI area: 87-92, 4.0L, Auto/Stick Average body (Around here the bed has holes and cab corners are starting to flake/rot) 2WD About $750-1500 4WD About $1000-2000 Rob
  22. Some of my youtube views from this evening: knU9gRUWCno&ob=av2e gLESpHrtvxs 3qVPNONdF58&ob=av2e fJ9rUzIMcZQ&ob=av2e Y8gSKjX-Lig Rob
  23. Use a 4.2 crank and stroke it to 4.7. Check out the Jeep strokers forum for more information. Rob
