  1. From Automobile magazines "10 cars we want back": http://www.automobilemag.com/features/n ... anche.html Friggen sweet! Rob
  2. Shoot... My ZJ can go 120. Rob
  3. I am going to say that it might be a problem with some settings on your computer... Pete might have some more insight though. Rob
  4. A lot of it has to do with the higher ups also... For those who don't know, I do work for Public Works... We recently went union, and the code enforcement guy was instructed to write up a coworker for having one tire off his driveway and in the "Grass" (Actually the dirt on the edge of the paved driveway). Once he was written up by the code enforcement guy, the city "Discovered" the issue, and threatened to suspend/reprimand him from/at public works since he is "upheld" to a higher standard. 'effin' ridiculous. Rob

  6. Played with it in the backyard today... A bit windy, so excuse the noise there. Nothing special, just messing around. xt9IjpYxV7E wcsC0EuTmcU m9TxhAmhnTs 35PBIR1Sth8 an8odMCjr_k Rob
  7. I think he might need one of these to the arse... Bravo for getting it back, but really? Really? A week? Rob :fool:

    Retirement

Here I was thinking you were a young fella. Congrats! Rob
  9. Yep, we have a gaggle of Chevy Impalas at work, and they actually have a recall for this. The Chief's car was having power issues. You could put it around town, but if you got on it, it would fall on its face and sound like it was really angry. It would snap and pop and sound like general hell. We ended up taking the o2 sensor out and starting it up. Ran a ton better. Then after a quick search on Google/GM VIS, we found out that the Impala has extended coverage for problems with the cat. Free fix. Rob
  10. Finished it up today. Got the body mounted, steering trimmed, re-did the settings on the speed control, and was climbing anything I could find in the living room. I was pretty surprised that without the body on, I can back straight up a wall to the point where it flips over... Pretty neat. I can't wait to mess around with it this week in the nicer weather. That, and get cranking on some real MJ's. Rob
  11. Not only that, but I am at the end of an old subdivision that went belly up, so I am the last house... 1/4 mile of nothing past me but hydrants and open lots... I was out moving vehicles around, and was just too lazy to jockey one across the street. Some people's children... Rob
  12. Depending on disc/drum, you might have just bent the backing plate. I know when I do breaks on my roommate's Chevy 1500, I always manage to eff up the backing plate hammering the rotor off, and spend 3 hours trying to get it bent back perfect and stop the noise. Rob
  13. I never actually did it, but a couple years ago I had a neighbor call me in for parking on the wrong side of the street, drivers side to the curb. What they didn't know was that I am good friends with the senior dispatcher... Tee Hee. As soon as the officer pulled away, I texted my buddy. Within 10 minutes I had their address and phone number, and was brewing away. They were the idiots down the street, whom I am sure had been under constant harassment from another neighbor, and were probably trying to take it out on others. My neighbor and I devised a plan to put old milk out on our back porch for a few weeks, let it get good and ripe, freeze it in the jug, and then cut it into blocks. On a nice hot summer night, we were going to creep over there to the complainants house and leave all the milk cubes in their mulch by their front door... Melt in overnight, and be lingering f-o-r-e-v-e-r. They moved out though, or got evicted, so nothing came to fruition. Rob
  14. Already sent them an email. Rob :D
  15. You know you are a glutton for punishment and the weird/unusual... Rob :dunno:
  16. We had them on our city trucks (Public Works fleet) and they had really poor tread life for our usage. Can't speak for an average driver though. Results may vary. Rob
  17. Always been a fan of the International Full Size Jeep Association: www.ifsja.org Rob
  18. Jumping in late here, but have you verified the running voltage reading on the truck? - Also, I know someone had mentioned the Parasitic draw test, but there is a proper way to do it, especially on newer cars: Disconnect negative batter cable. Put a ammeter and large fused jumper in parallel from the neg post to the neg cable. Cycle the key to on, but don't start. Turn off. Turn on the ammeter and see if you are getting huge numbers. If not, pull the jumper, now all residual power draw will be through the meter. Check your number. The reason you need to cycle the key with the cable on the jumper/meter is that some modules and things may stay on when you turn the truck off, but if you were to disco the cable - then put the meter in line, all the modules will have been put to sleep by the momentary lack of power. The fused jumper is so you don't blow your meter when you cycle the key. But, all of that is most likely a moot point on our trucks. Unless your radio is capable of some weird stuff, you should have no issues just disconnecting the cable. Rob
  19. Sounds good fellas. Sounds like Brent has the only scheduling issue, so lets shoot for the 31st? Can those who need parts wait that long? Rob

    school

Congrats on the schooling. Always good to keep learning. lsmurphy... Play nice or not at all. Let's keep this on topic. Rob
  21. Well, well, well. We have another tricky one this month. As was the case with Buffalo Bob... When the bug bites and you have the room for it, one MJ becomes... Well a lot of them. Enjoy. --- JIMOSHEL's COMANCHE COLLECTION --- 1987 4.0, AW4, 2WD. Overheating when I got it. Took a new radiator to fix it. I got this MJ from another CC member, Phil C. He was going from Denver to Nevada, or someplace and it over heated on him and he had to leave it. I made a rush trip from Pueblo and got it on the dolly and was leaving just as a tow truck pulled in to get it. I figure Phil may want it back when he gets going again and he can have it for exactly what I got in it. 1987 2.5L, AX4, 2WD, D35, 3.55. This is my fair weather DD. Runs like a scalded dog. Gets 18-20 mpg when I push it. Gets 20-22 when I take it easy. 1989 4.0L, AX15, 4WD, D44 front, D60 rear. PO was building a rock crawler. Unfortunately he didn't know how, or what he was doing. Fortunately I caught him B4 he junked it. Cost me $150 and a 150 mile round trip to get it. 1988 2.5, AX 5, 2WD. Partially stripped but I got all the pieces for it. PO was going to modify it but quit. 1986 2.8L, AX 5, 4WD, D30-D35, 3:73. This is my foul weather DD. Need the 4WD to get the 2 miles from the county road, up the hill to the house. 2.8L Will do everything a 2.5 will do. Just takes longer. 1989 PIONEER 2.5, AX5, 2WD, D35 3.55 1986 BASE 2.5, AX5, 4WD. Fella was running something in it. It has a 200 Amp police-commercial type alternator. 1987 PIONEER 2.5, AX 4, 2WD. This truck was sitting on the parking being used as a trash can. It was full of garbage, trash, maggets and flies. I tried for four months to get the lady to sell it to me. She wouldn't. Finally I called the city health dept and the zoning dept. Complained about the trash and the eyesore. 3 days later she called me and wanted to know if I still wanted it. I gave her $400 for the MJ and a wrecked '98 XJ in her yard. 1989 PIONEER 2.5, I do not believe this engine is stock. It has too much get up and go. However I cannot find any evidence of aftermarket goodies. 5 sp, 2WD, D30, D35, 3:73.Truck is rust free. Left front door was was Bondoed. They did a very good job and I never noticed it until I pulled out the magnet. What owner loves best about CC The members. Never saw so many people willing to help when some one has a problem. I have always had a soft spot in my heart for the underdog. When they quit making Corvairs I had 32 of them in my yard. I have always been a Jeep man. In 1947 I learned to drive in a WW11 MB my grand dad in Mo. bought at the end of the war. I was 12 years old. Been a Jeep man ever since. Think the rarest Jeep I ever had wasn't a Jeep. Was a 1942 Willys P/U. 100% complete, running and rust free. The only passion I have greater than for Jeeps is air planes and flying. About 5 years ago went to look at some property to buy. Couldn't get together with the guy on price so forgot about it. As I was leaving I noticed a headlight sticking out from some heavy brush. Looked. It was a 1989 MJ Pioneer. I didn't know what a MJ or Pioneer was then. Just knew it was a Jeep. Also looked like a nice truck. We talked. Got it for $100 dollars. No title. Got it home, played with it, got it running. Been hooked on MJ'S ever since. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Jim, you have such passion for the MJ's and life in general, can't believe you've slipped us this long. It's for real! I know you couldn't believe it. Couldn't have highlighted a better member this month... You seem to run the Colorado MJ rescue. If there is a cheap, neglected, forgotten, or abused MJ within a days driving of you, you don't think twice to go pick it up. Many of the trucks you have would have been destined for the crusher, but you've found a use for all of them. Whether it be your DD, your foul weather DD, parts rig, or a project. Not only that, but you are constantly offering up pieces and parts of your fleet to other members in need. Even offering to dolly a rust free Colorado MJ all the way to us poor suckers in the rust belt. It's a shame you had trouble making it out to us... Would have been a hoot for sure. You are always the first one to lighten up the mood, or offer up a great story from your travels. I'll never forget one of the ones that had us all jaw dropped and in disbelief from a thread talking about wheeling 2WD vehicles: comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=22324 Jim, nothing left to say but... It's no joke! Congratulations on your MJ(s)OTM! Rob
  22. Doing things right won't be cheap. Good machining generally isn't cheap either. Maybe it's time to just rebuild it and put it back in. Rob
  23. That thing is all sorts of '80's sexy. I wish I had some sweet original graphics on my '86. Nice truck, looking forward to the progress. Rob
  24. I mainly use it to host all my pics for CC, and to keep in touch with friends... Possibly hassle the room mate from the other room if I am feeling lazy. And post up pics of dinner. Rob :rotf:
  25. Sooo... Who wants to have a run? I think it's been over 6 months since we all got together over some junked Jeep and burgers. Long overdue. Not only that, but I know there are some members who need some stuff there, and I can always find something to buy. http://www.lkqselfserve.com/FindaLocati ... fault.aspx http://rockford.tiltedkilt.com/ How does the middle/end of March look for everyone? Saturday preferred here. Rob  Rob
