And the 5.9. Yep, figured that was the gimmie since we had just talked about it... ;) :agree: If you can't even get the details right, most likely it wasn't taken very good care of, or someone got taken adavntage of. As in: "For $300 I can put a body lift on this for you... Sucker." Rob L.

ZJ's only had the 5.2 318 for a v-8 option. The 4.7 Came in with the '99 Model Year. Rob L.

cherokee parts to a comanche

Any from '87-'90 should work if you are keeping the 2.5L. But beware that if you are going to swap in a 4.0L, you will need the harness also. So if you want to do basically a whole drivetrain swap, you can get into the '91-'92's. Just swap the vehicle harness also. Rob L. -
I'd take that snow over the 90 deg temps and 90% humidity we've been having here in the midwest. ;) For the past week I have had a mini swampland going on in my shorts everyday. Rob L.

How can you find these pics and not have a story? We need more information about this. :help: Willy Just me, but if they never made dually MJ's, why does this one have the EXACT same wheels and stance as the super clean white one lingering around in pictures here? :dunno: Maybe a limited amount? After searching for an XJ for awhile, and seeing what they were fetching, I dove into ZJ's. I acutally found one that was perfect for me. I found a '98 Limited in torch/flame red with agate leather interior, sunroof, and 4.0L. I went for the 4.0L rather than the 5.2 because I was less worried about high miles on a 4.0L vs. a v8. I paid $3850, with 102K on the clock. While seating is about the same no. of people, I find that the backseat in the ZJ has more leg room for the passengers than that of the XJ, where you usually have your knees buried in the front seats. Also a little bit more room laterally. It is noticeably roomier. I have never had something so decked out either. Even has the radio contols in the steering wheel and climate contol. I know, more to break, but while its working, great. Even tells me when I have a light out and which one :brows: . Here are some pics. My only gripes: AWD. I would rather find a 242 to give me part time rather than the full time only. Ever since I tried to take care of it, and change the t case fluid with mopar stuff, I now have tire scrub. Most likely my VC is toast. I would have also liked to have a 5 speed instead of the auto. And even though I should know better than to mess with my DD, I would still like to see it with 15" black steels, and a 2" budget lift and 31's. Rob L.

I had a buddy who cut, and flush mounted a front bumper in the back, between the bedsides. Looked pretty trick. Rob L.

Windshield/Dashboard Bummer
Automan2164 replied to 64 Cheyenne's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
In a word ... yes. He is supposed to be a professional. Professional glass guys replace windshields on old cars as well as new. You are assuming, of course, that he caused the cracks by simple hand pressure rather than sloppy use of the tools (I don't agree ... I think it's obvious the damage was done by the tool). Even if that's true ... he as a professional has a responsibility to protect the rest of the vehicle around what he was working on. Another thing he could have done was to warn you of subsequesnt damage prior to continueing. Like "hey I noticed your dash is dry, it might crack while i am working in the area. Would you like me to continue?" Rob L. -
Not only did he say they put in a v6, but they actually took the time to explain it as different than a 4.0L? Slightly curious here... :hmm: Rob L.

As one who carries the red axe in, what you did was very corageous, or very stupid. Props for saving the ol' guy. But there is some nasty stuff going on inside a burning house. Its never easy, but what sounds like happened was a little bit of flashover. When everything get so hot in a room (like an oven), and just spontaneously combusts, all that heat broke the windows, and introduced a whole lot more oxygen. We try to get there as quick as we can. Speaking of, been awhile since we had a good fire in my neck of the woods... I'm getting bored sitting at home all night. Rob L.

*In the heaviest redneck accent " I told y'all those sewer pipe stacks would have sure been cool. Who's the dumbass now?" :fool: If its true, its a shame. I could vagueley see it, but they would have to be alone, in the middle of nowhere, and not have the sense to open up a window while they are waiting for help. :dunno: Rob L.

Light up his world!!! Rob L. -
I would also be worried about how much volume the pump could put out. Might be able to keep up with the demand of 6 reg injectors, but might fall behind trying to supply 8 thirsty v-8 injectors. Rob L.

Also, in key with the rest of this. If you can, don't buy a dash thats already out. Bring tools to a yard, and pull it yourself. It will make it sooooo much easier when you've never done it. Seeing how it's held in, and how it comes out without thrashing your dash is a good idea. I think the dash should come out with a set of Metric sockets, a phillips, small flatblade or pick(for helping with connector clips), and a flashlight. Its pretty simple once you pop your dash cherry :D . It just gets time consuming when you've never done it before. Rob L. -

I would tell them that since they didn't even have the skill to install the windshield, that you don't want them to install the dash either. I would tell them that you want to take it to a reputable shop or dealer, and get it fixed on their dime. At least they just didn't brush you off and tell you tough nuts. The fact that they are willing to work with you is a plus, but make sure they do it on your terms. Rob L. -

I say dump the chevy dealer... Sounds sketchy to me. I don't really see a spot for ya after the changeover. Rob L. -
I had one with plans on making it work, but sold the works to girs86mj with my '91. Someone else has tried, but in order to make it work correct, its a PITA. Rob L.
