Of course I pulled the diff cover at the JY , looks clean and in good shape to me.... Stripped the axle down and wire wheeled everything , the axle was suprisingly clean because it got saved by the 2.8 leaking oil all over the axle housing . All the bolts came out by hand once they were broken free , someone installed new ujoints / ball joints not too long ago so I think I'll just run them for now . I did put new bushings in the upper axle housing , new pinion seal , OME steering stabilizer , sway bar links , calipers and brake hoses . I guess it's time for a new camera / phone too , sorry about the picture quality ... Next on the list is getting the WJ LCAs fitted to the axle housing , anyone know the measurements of what I need to cut the steel sleeves down to ? Also does the LCA bolt on the same way as it would on the WJ ? The thread I found has no pictures anymore and the poster is M.I.A.

I'll probably switch to the new axle shafts with the larger ujoints along with new seals , fluid , bushings ,ball joints , links , WJ lca , OME steering stabilizer and hub bearings / brakes .

I figured it's as good as time as any to update with my newest find as I've been down with the flu the past few days with no energy or drive to do anything but sleep . Searching Pull-A-Part they had a 86 Xj with a 2.8 and auto trans . Being couped up I figured I take a drive and see if it had a black interior and check about a 4:10 Hp dana 30 as well . It didn't have a black interior but it did have the front 4:10 axle that I picked up for $105 which is a much better price than anyone else around here .It was a chore to take out and I'm spent . It's a CAD axle but the gears are in great shape . No pictures right now but I will take some eventually .

2000 Xj driveline vibration
Strokermjcomanche replied to Strokermjcomanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks Eagle for the tech info . Of course he doesn't have the money right now for the SYE but he does have plans on doing it once he does . I'm just trying to get him by until then and thought the ax 15 crossmember ( which I have ) would help even if I had to put spacers between the crossmember and frame rail to lower it more . -
2000 Xj driveline vibration
Strokermjcomanche replied to Strokermjcomanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
With the frame at 0 degrees the drive shaft is 16-17 degrees -
My friend put a Rough Country 3 inch lift ( coils and new leaf springs) on his 2000 XJ . I took it for a drive ( I drove it before the lift and it was fine )and it has a decent driveline vibration . I have searched threads with the same issues and they either recommend a SYE (preferred) or a Tcase drop . I guess what my question is ,can I use a ax15 crossmember (with the factory drop in it ) to remedy the vibration until he can afford a SYE? Or any other recommendations would be much appreciated . Thanks in advance .

Group 34 Battery
Strokermjcomanche replied to DirtyComanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
A group 34 battery has the posts in the same location as the standard battery , you must have been looking at a group 34r battery . I don't see why a 34 group battery wouldn't fit in the stock battery tray . I have one in my Xj that I can put in my 89 mj tommorow -

Rear Glass Leak, Need Help
Strokermjcomanche replied to victorgallas's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I would do as eagle said , you paid to have the job done right . The only things I would add is , was it rusty where the glass is urethaned to the metal ? If it is they may not warranty their work . It could also be leaking between where the cab corner and back panel or roof meet , I d check those too . -
Rocker Bottom Seats
Strokermjcomanche replied to Minuit's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm 6'0 and had the 2 door xj rocker seats in my MJ for a SHORT while , my head rubbed the roof and it was very annoying . I found a nice pair of Comanche specific buckets and never looked back . Yes Don , I used my bench seat lower brackets on the bottom of the xj rocker bottoms . -
Do a carfax and see who owned it in the past .... Should give you a good clue .
