4x4 swap transmission mount question
Strokermjcomanche replied to desbennett004's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks for the reply. I saw the extra set of holes, they didn't seem to be threaded though. I will double check when I get back there today. If they aren't, I might just drill them out a bit and use grade 5 bolts and nuts. Sent from my SM-N900W8 using Tapatalk I would tap them to the 10mm 1.5 thread , you'd have to open up the frame to put the nuts on and they would spin if you ever tried to take the crossmember off in the future. Do it the right way ,the tap is cheap.... -
4x4 swap transmission mount question
Strokermjcomanche replied to desbennett004's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
There are several sets of holes in the frame , probably hidden by dirt / grease . Being that you're going from 2wd to 4wd you'll want to use the rear set of bolts , before you do I'd clean the 10mmx1.5 threads . Use everything from the 98 XJ and you'll be good . -

Just exploring my options on a track bar for my truck : 88 swb with OME 2934 coils running about 3.5 inches of lift.... The current adjustable track bar I bought won't work due to the taper not going far enough in the frame bracket for me to thread the castle nut on AND fit the cotterpin in . I've tried the newer frame bracket with the same results ..... I'm open to suggestions to make it work if it's possible . So being that I'm running 3.5 lift I'm looking for one that goes from 3/3.5 inches and up ( not up to 3.5-4.0 inches of lift ) in case I lift it in the future .And I'm looking for one that has a adjustable sleeve so I don't have to unbolt the track bar to adjust it . Other than that I have no requests . So what do you suggest ?

Thanks Troy .I currently have a pair at my brothers house in Parker Co , but I need two pair for my project . It would also be great for logistics as the next time he comes to Ohio he can bring them in his car and I can save shipping . -

Krustyballer16 on here sells new hitches specific to our trucks . -
I would have thought the fire originated from the passenger side , the lower dash is non existent on the passenger side while the drivers side is melted but still there . Maybe the blower motor or resistor ? Exhaust? It would be nice to know to prevent this from happening to other MJ owners....

I'd like to know what started the fire , it seems like it was a nice truck beforehand. http://daveysjeeps.com/repairables/R487019.html P.S I don't care about how much He's asking...

I told him I'd like to buy the running boards and gave my email , phone number etc . I do understand what you're saying , he could respond saying he didn't have them anymore or that he won't ship to me . I looked at the map and it shows he's not very far North of Michigan , thanks for any help . -

There are no guarantees on how long the paint/ dye will last , preping and using quality materials ( like S.E.M.) will greatly improves its life though. I guess it all depends how hard you are on the interior ....
-
Yeah i want those and the A pillar ones as well. are those interchangeable with cherokee ones? Ive got my hands on a 2000 cherokee and was thinking of switching the interiors over...That being said i have a tan interior now which is in fantastic shape and seeing the prices of those panels my brain is saying "Hell yeah grab those things and lets get wrenching!!" but then my wallet is saying "Remember we are trying to do this on a budget..." If the stinkin JY would stay open longer i would have more time to go through the yard and try to find a MJ. I find that alot of them have tan/burgandy interiors. Ive never tried to use the XJ a pillars , I don't know . If you are planning on installing a 2000 Cherokee interior the color will be Agate , not grey . You can paint your interior pillar panels as an option , are you doing the complete conversion ?

I'd say the fuel pump or the rubber hose inside the tank is bad. Airtex pumps are junk , I'm surprised it lasted 6 years , get yourself a Bosch 69302 pump and you'll be good . The hose may be dry rotted ( why you're losing pressure) .Before you do all that make sure the ground behind the drivers side tail light has a nice clean connection .

Transmission
Strokermjcomanche replied to ftpiercecracker1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've got a nv3550 in my MJ and It shifts fine . If you get one more than likely it will be from a TJ and I would recommend clocking the tcase to the XJ/MJ position so the 4wd linkage bolts up correctly . The TJ shifter will work but it hits the console a bit because of the offset in the shifter base ( which can be fixed with a Nv3550 XJ shifter or a Hurst shifter ) . Everything else is straightforward ...
