Strokermjcomanche replied to Minuit's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I tried to mount them before , they didn't fit on the older doors . How about the factory Jensen tweeters? -

Those are rivets , you need to drill the heads off . -
Talked to my insurance company and they are waiting on the police report to see if the lady that actually owns the explorer has insurance . If she has insurance they'll go after her , if no insurance my uninsured will cover it with no raising of my rates . Of course no legal action will happen to the person that was driving ........ But it's better than nothing .

Cut the old perches off the 8.25 and weld the new perches on , the mopar perches are cheap( under $20 ) and work well . Are you planning any lift ? If not the pinion angle shouldn't have to be changed , you can buy magnetic angle finders for cheap and copy your angle ( and spring perch width ) off of your old axle , weld the perches on and you're good to go . If the pinion length is the same the driveshaft will bolt right in , use the Mj emergency brake cables also . If you keep the height sensing valve , flipping and reversing the bracket mounted on the diff cover will work .

Thanks John . I hope you're right bout the 20 something year old kid that was driving , but he has no insurance , no liscense , didn't use a turn signal , was on the phone ( distracted ) , ran red lights and blew through no turn on reds running away . I doubt there's any hope for him ... I just want him to pay for damages done to my vehicle which won't happen . I think it's funny how when I was on unemployment, and when my health insurance ran out, that I was penalized for not having health insurance but nothing will happen to him because he didn't have car insurance and he will continue to drive uninsured and with no liscense .

Thanks Don . He had three people hit and skip on him in the past , plus he was a Veteran with good morals .

He's lucky it wasn't an Mj , thanks .

Well I woke up and figured I'd get some breakfast from dunkin donuts today , turned out to be a bad decision . I was driving my 99XJ in the right lane of a 4 lane road and there was a green Ford explorer (liscense # gyy5233 ) in the left lane heading the same direction I was , he decided to make a quick turn into my lane striking the left front of my jeep . The guy never stopped until I caught up to him motioning for him to pull over , we both got out and he asked if I was ok ( he knew he hit me ) i said I was fine . He said we're all ok then right ? I said no we are going to have a report made . I got back in my vehicle to call the police and a white equinox pulled up next to me asking if I was ok and that he seen what had happened . As I told him I was calling the cops and everything was ok the guy in the explorer sped off and I gave him chase , I called 911 and explained what happened , 911 said that the cops were in route and if I had the plate number to just let him go so I did . I gave the operator the last direction he was headed and returned back to the scene of the accident to meet the cop for a report and so did the eye witness . They know the adress of the explorer and sent a cruiser over and the ford wasn't there , I was told by the description I gave of the driver that he doesn't have insurance , and a suspended liscense . Time to call my insurance company .. This sucks

This one ? https://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/cto/5976693310.html Sounds like a better truck than the one you originally were looking at . If the floors and such are in good shape go for it , you may be able to talk him down too .

I'm from eastern Ohio as well , where do you live? I've had many Mjs that have lived their life in Ohios rust area , sounds like it's not worth the $2500 to me . The frame is going to continue to go in other areas and you'll be polishing a turd , I learned my lesson after 5 rusted out trucks , I currently have 2 rust free Mjs and one somewhat clean one I use as a truck . The last truck I purchased from Colorado through a member on here was $900 plus shipping but needed some work , it will last me a long time once completed .

Should be the plug to the o2 sensor . But as Don said ....

Dakota parts on Comanche?
Strokermjcomanche replied to GeorgiaJeeper93's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I would like to correct myself . If you happen to have a 2.5 / 5 speed combo , the ax15 trans happened to be bolted behind that for some of the years and the bell housing is desirable -
Dakota parts on Comanche?
Strokermjcomanche replied to GeorgiaJeeper93's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Nothing is going to bolt right on . You'd have to modify parts to work , like the gas tank and tail lights . The antenna and parking brake won't work -

That looks like lord blackburys 4 seat mj with that funky looking topper -
Thanks to Gogmorgo I got this jewel . My thoughts were to either bolt this in as is ( there is no sensors etc included) or repurpose it as a indicator for all of the lights by relabeling the panel . I'm open to other suggestions as well , what would you do with it ?

Why replace? Take the old fabric and board out. Spray some 3M headliner adhesive on both (it is a contact cement), and carefully spread/smooth the fabric onto the board. Viola, like new, for the price of the adhesive (<$20). Hopes this helps. Let me know how your project progresses.Because sometimes they are broke and or missing Makes sense, but the OP never mentioned that. I am/was just trying to be helpful. My headliner drooped for many years before I took mine out and did what I suggested. I never said you weren't trying to help , I was just answering your question . I answered the OPs question of where he could get a new headliner , he never mentioned he had one either ...
