Congrats. Keep the rubber side down this time!

Oh my. Beautiful truck. I would love to have something like that. Rust free? It is a dream come true.

Your theory won't work.... trust me. I bought my MJ to take over daily driving duties from my TJ. You can click the build link in my sig to see how that is working out for me :rotf: Welcome to the madness. It is a blast!

Got the brackets today. THANK YOU MIKE! A top notch cleaning job too

Looks like its time to take care of number one. The Jeep will patiently wait for you. Hope all goes well.

Fireworks over the Rockies is beautiful. Though I didn't make it to Ouray on the 4th when I lived out there. The display must be impressive over the San Juans.

June update. As you know, the truck has been at the body shop slowly being worked on. The body shop guy said he expects the truck to be out of his hands this fall, which is good because I have a lot of to do before I am ready for it. Here are some picture of the truck at the shop: Driver side floor pan is 99% done Don't forget the seat belt hole! Passenger side cleaned up awaiting the floor pans I have finally made a few decisions on the suspension. The build will include: Rear: - Hell Creek 3" lift packs - JKS Shackles Front: - 3" Skyjacker coils purchased - ACOS Pro (spacer for winch weight/leveling and bumpstop repair) purchased - JKS control arms - JKS Trackbar - JKS discos purchased If you think it seems like I am a fan of JKS, you would be correct. Of all the products I have run on my TJ, the JKS have required the least amount of maintenance and have had the longest service life. Some eye candy arrived today: I am pulling the XJ's motor this weekend. Hopefully I can have it at the machine shop around the first of July.

Nice SUV  The WJ is my favorite Grand.

The Comanche body has been discontinued again. Should be back in a year or so.

Oh, hi. Image Not Found  Has the aluminum 4-link upgrade and weighted wheels now. Image Not Found Image Not Found Chased the dogs around the yard with it last weekend and climb the wood pile. Not true. I have about $400 in my set up so far. I know guys here who bought their entire truck for much less than that!

Common engine noises on the 4.0L?
87Warrior replied to Jerry's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I think the knock indicates the 4.0 is finally broke in. Terra - if your 92 isn't knocking yet, it should make it to 500K no problem! -
Common engine noises on the 4.0L?
87Warrior replied to Jerry's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I think I know the noise you are talking about. My 92MJ did it and my folks 93XJ does it, 190K and 130K miles respectively. The donor 99XJ didn't do it with 153K miles. My 03TJ and my fathers 03TJ don't do it, 90K and 120K miles respectively. They ALL have noisey valvetrain. -
Mike, that is them. How much would it take for me to take those off your hands? Oh, and how would you like payment? Thanks! Brett

Looks fun. What area was the tent set up? I feel like I've been in that area before.
-
:smart: Can't win 'em all.... :rotf: They looked brand new, right before they slipped out of sight :hmm: What I don't know is if the older XJ's also had these braces. If they did, are they the same as the MJ's?

Anybody ever use a bench out of another truck???
87Warrior replied to kmanmj5050's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I don't remember who it was that used a Dakota bench, but they were my deciding factor for keeping a bench. I am searching for a 97-(04)? Dakota split bench for my truck. From my research, the base model trucks had uncomfortable seats, but the better trim levels had nice seats. -
Much better than anything like 'Extreme 4x4' or the like! The uni-body plating looks good! Did you run into any problems with rust on the 'frame'? That last picture in the blog post of the rear frame rail indicates the frame might have had some rust. I am just curious to know what you might have had to do to combat frame rot.
-
We already know you are going to do it... So where are the pictures of your new truck?

Nice. Very clean. Do want!

That fire is too small.

WTB PA: OEM Dash switch (Defrost/trans/Rear Wiper...)
87Warrior replied to ComancheKid45's topic in Wanted
I've got a XJ dash switch mount and switches with a defrost and fog light switch (left side of the steering wheel). It is still attached to my trucks dash. (I bought it to manually control my fan as well) I'd have to pull it this coming weekend. $20 shipped to you? -
I am in need of the two braces that attach to the inside of the frame rail above the cross member. I thought my donor had an extra set for me, but it doesn't. I took them and the cross member off, and then I took them to the car wash to pressure wash them... needless to say they slipped down the grate and lost 'em down the 6' deep dirt trap when I was done cleaning. :wall: :thwak: :help: This is for a 4.0/AW4 truck if it matters. Edit: it is the two brackets/braces attached to inside side of either frame rail behind the control arms and directly above where the cross member would sit.

3" Suspension Lift Kits?
87Warrior replied to kawaboy13's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You will also need shocks and an alignment 8) Yes, you can use swaybar discos with a budget lift. The discos, in addition to longer shocks, will improve your front axles articulation (flex). You may need brake lines, YJ lines would probably work perfect for a budget lift. -
I think I understand what you did. But, how did you get the nut on the back of the striker to work an inch lower. This is what the striker plate behind the B-pillar looks like.
