B) but it depends. I say it depends on your driving style. Mine are pitted along the backside, from what I can tell would be gravel hitting them. Also, as mvusse indicated, they keep grease from getting on the caliper. Why remove them?

Please be sure to post your impression of the QuietCar paint. I really want to apply some sort of sound deadening to the cab of my truck, but don't want to use any of the adhesive backed products. Can't wait for the visual updates! -
Thanks guys. If anybody is interested, we wil be in Ouray or Silverton the week of Aug 4, next year. I hope to bring an MJ!

2000 XJ power train in my MJ

That looks just like the 22g tank I picked up locally. I have always assumed the 15g variety would be missing the extra lumps from the back and top of the tank. -
:wrench: I will stay in the garage and work on Jeeps! I did piano and trumpet for 5-10 years each growing up. I never had the drive to do very well at either so the skills I did develop have gone by the wayside. It has been almost 10 years since I have played an instrument. I don't think I even remember the note letters any more, let alone how to play. I always admire folks who can play, even if its not my kind of music.

Subscribing to this thread since I have some interest in doing something similar.

I would buy it. You should buy it. If you don't buy it, Jim will :chillin: Based on that guy's grammar, $400 cash would probably bring it home.

If Mike doesn't have them for you, I should.

Did you align it after the spacers? i.e. reset you toe-in? viewtopic.php?f=2&t=31485 -
Time to replace the calipers. Calipers are only $20 when you bring in the old one for core. It will lock up again.

 That is one big MJ. Looks sharp :D AND you have a cargo light :ack:

:thwak: sorry about that Jim, as you know cell phone service is almost non existent in Taylor Park... Let alone internet service! Of the 5 times I have camped in the area I have always hauled in my drinking water. Looks like I will have to stop by a campground next time. I hope that old Chevy had a posi-trac unit in the rear! It is beautiful country.

Our time on Antero was quite limited as the family who owns the mineral rights was in the process of driving/moving an excavator to the top. Talked to the son and grandson of the guy who built the road in the 50s for extracting precious gems from the mountain while waiting at a switch back for the machinery to pass. Last year they extracted one gem worth 1.5 million from the top, which is now in a museum.

Went out to Colorado last week for the 12th year for exploring the Rockies. (6th year with Jeeps). Stayed at the Almont Resort in Almont, CO. Jim never showed up :dunno: Day 1: Made a drive to Marble, CO to start the Crystal City Loop Stopped by the Crystal Mill Then went up Lead King Basin Followed by Devils Punch Bowl and Schofield Pass Returning to Crested Butte, CO Day 2: Went up Tincup Pass and snapped my Upper Control Arm/Trackbar bracket.... Limped the Jeep down the mountain slower than I could have walked the trail. Dropped it off in Gunnison, CO at a local welder for repair Day 3: Picked up the Jeep in Gunnison after eating Mario's Pizza in town Did an unpopular trail from Ohio City, CO to Pitkin, CO. Took Cumberland Pass to the top and took more un popular trails Tincup Gulch Headed back to Almont, CO, passing Taylor Reservoir Day 4: Took Cement Creek trail out of Crested Butte, CO to Reno Divide Then we moved down Italian Creek to American Flag Mountain And took Italian Creek to Taylor Park Day 5: Started out going up Texas Creek Did Taylor Pass to Aspen Took the back way to Aspen Jeeping down the Aspen Ski area Saw the only MJ on the trip (I opened my wallet to find I FORGOT my CC cards  ) Day 6: Drove back to Pitkin, CO to do Hancock Pass And lastly we went up Mt. Antero

I had no issues ordering straight through C2C. Though, my body shop guy was real disappointed in the fit of the pans. They are made out of good material.

I have had to deal with poison ivy every summer since I was 3. I am real allergic to the stuff and have only found one over the counter product to work. Tecnu Extreme. Its a wash that has grit in it. Scrub the living hell out of the affected area and rinse with cool water. The sores will ooze for a couple of days and dry up after a few more days. I also use it every day after work since I crawl through the crap all day long as a forester. Once you have scrubbed your body, feel free to scratch away. After a few washes the plant oils should be off your skin so there should be no more spreading.

Never spotted a tan KJ from KC to Limon to the Springs. I70 east is all down hill. I notice a 2mpg improvement in my TJ when switching directions.

 Beautiful truck. I would like to have one someday, but they are even less practical for me than the Comanche is :rotf:

Engine Compartment Overhaul, Long 1 sorry

Renix era 4.0s have a lot more stuff under the hood to make them run. The OBDi (HO) 4.0s have fewer parts and ultimately less clutter under the hood. Sounds like you want to do the HO swap! -
Thanks Don. It seemed to work well for me.

What I did: - Find two levels and bungee them to the center of outside of the wheel - Measure the distance between the levels right at the tire tread - Repeat the measurement process for the front and rear of the tire - Adjust tie-rod so that the distance between the front and rear of the tires is 1/16-1/8 less than the rear Having a helper hold the tape will make this really easy if you don't have enough clearance at the back of the tire due to control arm or driveshaft interference. My method is a slight variation of the ORO method pictured below. I used the levels to make sure my measurements were taken at the same spot, front and rear of the tire.

Wave when you pass us. 1 Silver Ram pulling a Blue TJ, 1 Silver TJ Rubi, 1 Red JK Rubi, 1 Black TJ Rubi and 1 other TJ. Should be passing through the springs by 11am.
