  1. Not if you are using a relay, which you should be doing anyhow. You could find another fog light switch pod and move the face to your existing pod on the right of the steering wheel. I would want fog and overhead lights on different circuits.
  2. How many miles does your rig have? I have a full 99 cluster with 150k. I don't need it since I found a cluster with 200k miles on it for my swap, which is what my truck has.
  3. Wallet? Why not the Comanche title...
  4. Titan has a reputation of building unreliable motors that are oftentimes not even machined properly.
  5. Can you take a picture? It sounds like you are saying the oil level check portion of the dipstick is normal while there is a spot of milky oil part way up the dipstick away from the level check. If this is the case, I would not rule out condensation. Drain your oil and report back to us with what is in the pan.

    wow...

Huh. Well, that was interesting. The whole Jeep thing had me confused.
  7. Yeah. I don't get what they are saying here. Disc or drum, the MJ load valve will operate the same way.
  8. No picture but a diagram for the HO flywheel. The Renix era flywheel is notched all the way around. Reference: http://www.askamechanic.info/askamech2/ ... iew/48/47/ That article also made a mention of the ASD Relay (Automatic Shut Down) as a possible cause of no start. Have you tried to pull any engine codes from your Jeep? Turn the key on three times (off-on-off-on-off-on) and count the series of Check Engine light flashes and compare with corresponding code numbers. Don has a nice write up explaining this procedure: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=29857 Sounds like the Haynes manual is getting the Renix and HO CPS test mixed up. 4.0 HO CPS testing: http://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/testing-cps-5563/
  9. Don please correct me if I am wrong, as it has been a while since I have done my ZJ disc swap research. My understanding was that by using the TJ Rubicon disc brake retainer (and drilling new holes) the pre-load spacer is not required since it is already formed into the retaining plate. The 'lip' on the TJ retainer is almost the same size as the pre-load spacer as seen in this image from naxja. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3041/285 ... 27.jpg?v=0
  10. Sure sounds like trackbar. My guess is the worn out parts absorbed some of the shock not making the trackbar clunk as noticeable. Now most of everything is tight and all of the slop is being concentrated in one spot.
  11. I had heard of the USDA loan programs but dismissed them without much research. Obviously I should have done more. This looks like a very promising way to go. Ran through the online eligibility checks and it looks like we qualify as well as the property we are looking at.
  12. Good to hear. I reviewed the FSM and it indicated the 2wd axle nut is only torqued to 12 ft-lbs. This was quite surprising to me as the 4wd axle nut is torqued to 175 ft-lbs.
  13. Wow, most of the go-to items have already been addressed here. Has the battery been tested? My folks XJ would not start with a bad battery (even though it would crank). The computers in these things will get mighty confused with a weak/dying/dead battery. The orange spark you are getting is what has me the most concerned, as you know it should be blue. It also sounds like you have tried a few fuels down the TB. Might try pulling the plugs and cranking it with the fuel pump relay pulled. In an attempt to blow anything out of the cylinders. Replace with new plugs. Might be worth it to drain the tank and put in some fresh fuel. Who knows, maybe some water got in the tank.
  14. I believe 90 was the cross over year from a rebuildable spindle to a hub assembly like the 91+ axles used (2wd and d30). If you have the hub assembly piece, an impact wrench will become your best friend getting that axle nut off. If it does come to that, you should go ahead and replace the ball joints. I am sure they are worn out. I was amazed how 'tight' my TJ felt after doing ball joints, any they were only 7 years old.
  15. In addition to the proportioning valve you will need a few more parts, including: - New hard/soft lines for the caliper (replacement TJ lines are cheap) - Disk brake retaining plates (TJ rear disk) - Longer lug studs (TJ rear disk) I hope to install my ZJ disks to my 44 within the next few weeks before getting the axle rebuilt.
  16. Wife and I have been mulling around the idea of buying a home since we plan on relocating far away from this metropolitan chaos called Kansas City. Her grandmother is a Realtor on the other side of the state and has been guiding us and recommending questions to ask. She won't be our Realtor. For the type of house we want, a mortgage will be cheaper than our current rental rate. We have a few requirements for our future home: - Property not located within city limits or to be annexed by surrounding cities (crazy high special taxes in town) - 3 to 10 acres - Basement - Fireplace - Porch I am going to follow this thread. Nothing is better than hearing from folks who have experience.
  17. Maybe that is why I keep burning up my clutch. Can't say if say if welding helped my traction at all since I can't get the rig to move. :dunce: :thwak:
  18. uhhh...WTF :huh???: Haven't you ever heard of folks welding their gears? :rotf:
  19. I am looking forward to following this thread. I have been studying compressors myself as I am looking to buy.
  20. That is one of the first blue Olympic edition trucks I have seen. Looks like you have a good base to build from. I can't believe the ears twisted off the DS before snapping the 35!
  21. Nice find on the hitch Mike. Do my eyes deceive me, or is your spare hanging a little loose?

    DoD

Kind of like the parts train, but with an on-your-honor donation once you receive the parts? I like the idea, but fear that CC is still a bit too small to complete a haul cross country.

    bucket seats

How far are you from Kansas City? I have two sets of 97+ XJ front buckets. One set is agate (black) and one is gray. The agate seats were in a smokers vehicle and stink with the pleather on the driver side cracking. The gray seats don't stink, but I have removed the cover of one seat to clean; the bottom frame is bent on this seat. I was going to put the gray covers on the agate cushions/frame for my truck, but decided to stay with the bench. $25 for each pair. $40 for both. Willing to drive for the cost of fuel.
  24. That is pretty cool. Thanks for sharing. Although I am a little disappointed they refered to it as a car.
