I have no easy answer for that I would test drive it and pull the filler plug.....if nothing runs out top it up...... (the containers are for sure 1 liter .....not 750 ml?)
-
Did you fill it by way of the filler or by the shift tower?

2 Wheel Drive Transmission
yxmj replied to Phillip Gwin's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well...I have never done a trans on a 1998 MJ......but my best guess is no ....answer your own questions... Does the trans you are asking about have a visible removable tail shaft...the gm trans you reference have 4 bolts that you take off to drop the tail shaft.... Do you see that on the trans you want to convert? -
To be honest I usually just use a c-clamp As above.....spend a couple of minutes with some emery cloth and a file (or if you have one a rotary tool with an appropriate disk) clean the yoke up good ....the trick is for the finishing sand you have to sand/file in the same direction as the cup will slide in (if that makes sense) not around and around. a bit of grease and they will pop right in.)

Voltage is not too high (I would be happy all the way to 14.8) Here is an easy test Pull off the -ve cable .....put a test light in between the cable and post......if it lights you have a draw (drain) you could now start popping out fuses one at a time until the light goes out....that circuit will be the culprit I have never done it with one but this test should also work with a multi-meter....it would be better I assume as you would not only see the voltage draw but you (if your meter is able) would be able to read the current as well (how much draw) I should add that you should try your best to shut off everything and make sure your doors are closed........and pull the bulb on the hood light if equipped

cps......spelled correctly

I do not know if this is an avenue fore you but did you look at 2 door XJ belts? I seem to remember having to fix a 2 door belt and it was different than the 4 door.....It mounted up higher so that you could get into the back seat by leaning the seat forward...Might be worth looking into?
-
Or it can be taken out altogether.... And it will never leak

So what was the diagnosis? -
-
Click the seat belt into place (or pull the buzzzer) open the drivers door window .....close the door.....now no reason for any buzzer to go off Reach in though the window and turn the key to power....pump should hummmm then stop......

Just away out there thought.....Both say that you have new plugs and wires Just old school curious......what color is your spark? -
Stock MJ or XJ coil spring isolators are 5/8” ……remove the 1.75” as said above…. if that is too much rake, pop in a stock set. That way you are only dropping 1 1/8”……see if that levels it out….you can stack them in 5/8” increments if you want more

A joke answer to a question in the tech side made me think of something funny that happened a couple of years back. Aside from the MJ, I have other Jeeps. My first (still have it) was a YJ. So, I have a bit of a soft spot for YJ’s and can’t walk away from one that is priced right even though it might need some attention. I picked up a low mile ’92, mint shape, one of the only problems was that the Trans (2.5-AX5) would get stuck in second a lot. I quickly figured out the sycro was fubar (PO had a 17-year-old son that drove it…Hhhmmm) all other gears were smooth as silk….so smooth that an experience driver could easily shift without using the clutch…. just by burping the gas. Through trial and error, I found that when it got stuck in second, I could pop it out by rolling backward (motor off) and popping the clutch while pushing on the shifter. All good As time went on the tranny stopped getting stuck in second ….. instead it would pop out of 2nd gear when you removed the load (let off the gas) …..no worries kept driving it as it was going to get converted to a 4.7-AX15 Had a buddy over and he was looking at some of the Jeeps and was quite interested in some of the standard options some had. We decided to go to the store grab some “refreshments” and have a BBQ. As we drove, he spoke about jeep innovations ahead of their time (the knock sensor on the Renix head…the load sensing valve on my MJ …. the HO head and Fuel injection…. just to name a few). As he talked and I answered we approached an intersection with a red light…I could see that the cross light was already yellow but I put my foot on the clutch just in case….right then the light turned green….my touch of the clutch caused the fubar trans to jump out of second and by pure luck drove itself forward and clicked into third gear…..and I kept driving….my friends eyes were glued to the 8 ball shift knob…..”Oh” I said quickly “and for the 92 YJ they came out with the auto shift”…….His eyes never left the shifter for the rest of the trip……..
