What gives???? I figured that if my idea was really stupid, somebody would at least take pity on an old phart and straighten me out. At least one smart-alec response was expected as I am really new to Jeep stuff. Come now fellas, I'm old enough to have a thicker hide and IF I can remember where I left my feelings I'll put them on my sleeve so they can get hurt. Seriously, does the MJ have such a check in the ECU? Could this be a possible explanation for the original question? Scott (It's past my bedtime, I'm heading for a nitecap of my favorite old phart medicine.) nope, jeeps do not use this, gm hasn't for years either. :waving:

practically nothing, no one uses them anymore. they actually used to be about twice that size, and now we do more with a scan tool that fits in the palm of your hand. mechanics don't even know how to use that anymore. it will look really cool in your garage though :clapping:

ya, t case, thats why i said try 4 wd, move the t case shifter around. that shouldn't be too bad.
-
wow, pretty weird for the aw4 to act up. could it be a problem in the axle? have you tried 4wd? drive shaft is in tact?

same

works very well :clapping: sorry had to, especially since you got an answer already. :rotf: not sure how specific the links get or how specific you care to get, all the switch does is send a ground to the computer to tell it to be in power mode or not.

no trans will "last" with water in it, but a manual will last long enough to change it after wheeling usually, unless you drove 300 miles in your wheeler to get there. its just not a complete death sentence is all i was saying. having both auto and manual transes apart for repair, i'll tell ya, there's maybe what 50 parts in a manual, and hundreds if not thousands in an auto considering solenoids, check balls, valve body sun gears, planetary, clutches, and all that crap.

well i'm north of chicago, i'm about an hour from madison, if you came through illinois i'd be on the way.

great job, great lookin truck, i really like the level look to.

it seems the more "hardcore" wheelers all went to auto. when i got in the game it was only the old fat guys wheeling autos. i like manual transmissions, and i'm using one in my trail rig i'm building. but mine also has a 6.55:1 first gear, doubler t cases, and 5.13 gears. i do feel like i have more control with a stick, i've wheeled both. didn't care for the auto off road, will have a hand throttle on the shifter though. but i'll admit it seems everyone is wheeling autos on the rocks, even a buddy i know that competed in weroc or whatever its called, he used to be manual only, and says he should've gone auto a long time ago.....i just can't let it go. i also prefer manual off road due to its strength, and durability. if it gets water in it, drain it. get water in an auto and its over. i can tear down and repair/rebuild a manual trans, and i could an auto to, but i don't care to work on an auto at all. daily driver i have enjoyed my autos lately. up untill recently all my vehicles were stick, dd or not. auto is kinda nice in traffic drinking coffee and texting :rotf:

nice truck, i like the orange

any truck stickers in black?
-
i'd get new ones, most vehicles require it, some older ones can be checked to see if the bolts are ok, but most of our trucks are pretty old, best bet is get new ones. thats what i did.

x2 whats going on?

kinda went too far at the end. i guess thats what all the new shows do now though, see how far they can push the envelope.

I was just saying that "if" one shows up at the new yard I go to, its $85 for ANY axle. Dave found one in the yard by him on half price weekend.... I am keeping my eye out. There is another branch of my fav junkyard up by you (kinda) in Janesville you should keep an eye on. Rob L. jeeze 85 any axle all the time, thats awesome. mine was 80 bux, w/ a 15 dollar core  for whatever reason, i'm snagging a junk axle from a friend so mine will be down to 65 bux  . 250 is a good price, 300 is about normal.

sometimes it takes more than just the one time waiting for the pump to prime. i'd say try it a couple times before starting. cycle key to on position for a few secs, turn it off for a few secs and repeat 3 or 4 times. see if that makes a difference.

d44 is about an inch longer
