Nice truck, welcome to the club. I can see the jeep addiction is already showing itself on you. I know how you feel, I just bought my first pair of shoes in a year :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: BTW whats hanging under the left front of your truck? -
I quit worrying about "sounds" from my engine when I quit "smoking :chillin: ", If I didn't I'd be fixin another broke sound every day. :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

:agree: Make sure the connection to the CPS is good, that the wires aren't burnt or damaged. But be sure to test for spark, make sure it is an ignition issue.

:agree: On my wiper arms I found that if you pull the arm up, then pull the clip out, let arm back down, (it should only go part way) the clip holds the arm away from the glass, the arm holds the clip from returning to it's "seated" position. Now you can wiggle the arm off without having to fight the spring tension on the glass.

Renix motor, the HO flywheel sends different signal pulse to the HO ECU. -
Don't forget the slider back-glass and gasket.

AX-15 swap is doable , make sure you get everything associated with the tranny/TC from the donor vehicle. You didn't say what tranny you currently have, if you have an auto, then you'll have to get a flywheel pressure plate from a Renix engine. You'll also want the tranny mount and crossmember, the TC linkages, clutch assy and associated parts for that. Check spline count on the output of the tranny, match to the input of your TC. A 23 spline input can be easily added to a 231 if needed, just seen you have a 242 TC, if your input splines match your trannys output spline count then your good to go. You'll need a new pilot bushing as seen in this post viewtopic.php?f=2&t=14321 . Possible DS fab if your going from an auto a manual trans. -
With the options of either running a tube bumper or no bumper, I'd definitely run that.

What about up to the 06 models? If possible I'd try find a "Rubicon", 44s, lockers, 4:1, TC. I had an 06 Rubicon, didn't like the auto, huge rpm increase when it downshifted from OD to D at highway speeds. I compensated by slowing down in hillly country, putting tranny in......can't remember the "mode" just remember it locked out OD.

C'mon freak, at least you got an excuse, when your young you learn from your mistakes. When your 35 it's just plain o'le dumbass. Just don't play that card too often, cause then you'll fall into the other category quick.

I've been thinking about this for a while, I thought about putting these on a dummy plate/mount http://www.jcwhitney.com/LED_License_Pl ... 023089;0;0 http://www.jcwhitney.com/12-VOLT_LICENS ... 003366;0;0 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/8030-LED ... ccessories Actually I think I'm going to use the LED ones, but anyway I'm going to make a bracket to mount in the receiver mount. Center, covering the hole wired into trailer plug. (for my Jcr bumper)
-
That kind of looks like one of those bolt on receiver set-ups like HF sells.
-
The factory never had an integrated receiver offered with its bumper. Only thing it had was the ball that bolted to it,very light duty. Then there was the frame mounts that put the receiver below the bumper, these work much better. Integrated receiver bumper that looks stock, Nada, that I know of. IMO the best setup to get what you want is a FEY bumper with an aftermarket frame mount receiver hitch. For about the cost of a Fey bumper and a frame mount you could run this. http://www.jcroffroad.com/Merchant2/mer ... y_Code=MJB I bought one like this for my 87.

empty your gas tank !!
64 Cheyenne replied to johnnybebad's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Jeez! I hope you had a fire extinguisher nearby when you did this. To me that doesn't seem too smart of a thing to do, discharging the fuel in such close proximity to an ignition source (the hot wire that you jumped the relay center with). Even a bigger bad is doing this inside an "attached" garage; start a fire in the garage, whole house goes up, seen it happen. To all reading this post, this might be a good idea done right. But Please be careful, have a good fire extinguisher nearby Actually it's a good idea to keep a few extinguishers around, it really sucks to need one and not have one, seen this happen too. -
I think you might need a more secure contact than that. Other than check see if you can hear the fuel pump running.

how do i install a speedy sleeve
64 Cheyenne replied to comanche13's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Isn't the speedy sleeve used so that you can salvage a harmonic balancer that has a groove worn in it? Along with using a new seal, How much does a new HB cost VS a speedy sleeve? -

Naw.... I'm gonna wait a while before I start anything else on this truck. It is good to know that I have a complete AX-15 for when the time comes, hopefully not too soon. Reason I'm not going to do this swap right away is I just got this truck drivable, want to enjoy it for a while. Another reason is I have a 94 Astro that needs head work taken care of first, and what with school and all it doesn't look like the tranny swap on this MJ is going to happen in the near future........knock on wood....... Plus the other MJ that was supposedly my "primary" MJ project.

Think I'll drain the oil, look for debris. Go from there. I am kind of leaning towards the linkage adjustment scenario though. Pretty sure it came out of a non-cad axle. Definitely aint gonna put a $200 dollar rebuild kit in it, when used ones are plentiful for cheap (This one was-free). Either way, it has a 23 spline input shaft that I'm sure I can probably use some day. Oh yeah, It's not like I'm needing this one, It's intended for a spare. Thanks for the advice and suggestions.

Worn chain wouldn't make it pop out of gear, would it? If not, what would? If I need parts for it, where is a good place to purchase them?
-
I bought a "spare" AX-15 last weekend for $125 bucks. The seller threw in the 231 which was still attached for nothing. The TC shifts threw all the gears, the seller said it "pops out of gear" when in low range. The XJ that this combo came out of was rolled, I think the linkage was probably knocked out of adjustment, causing it to jump out of low range. Question is, when a 231 is wore out, is it prone to "jump out of gear", or is a stretched chain the most common wear item to go bad on a 231? Or possibly the Unibody being tweaked, the cause of the problem. I've had a 231 apart before, so I'm not unfamiliar as to how the internals work on them. Maybe just change the oil and install when the time comes?
