  2. My belief is to keep the venting flowing in the proper direction, open up the venting from the VC to the intake manifold go from there. IMHO a catch bottle is just a bandaid for the problem. If the venting was working the proper direction, air FROM the airbox- INTO the front of the valvecover-OUT the back vent-INTO the intake manifold, the oil puking into the airbox wouldn't happen.
  3. I hate to think bad pilot bushing, when I went to put in the replacement tranny, I did look at the pilot bushing, looked OK. But I guess this goes to show that when I got concerned about having to pull the tranny again, replaced the slave TOB assy I dropped the ball, should have replaced the pilot just because matter of fact, oh well, live and learn, I guarantee, pilot bushings will always be replaced in the future if they are in doubt. Thanks for the insight JeepcoMJ.
  4. I used the stock valve cover on my 88. Took it apart, cleaned the towers "flappers", drilled a 3/8" inch hole about an inch up from the "bottom" of the towers (both of them). Then I used a breather fitting from a 97up valve cover, opened up the hole on the bottom of it to 3/16" shaved the outside so it fits in the hole, used permatex for sealant, put a pop rivet on both sides to hold it in place, reinstalled VC with a new gasket, replaced the vacuum fitting on the intake with a 1/4" size (larger hose=more vacuum draw) ran larger hose to the manifold fitting. Kept the crankcase inlet on the airbox as stock(kept system closed), so far no more "puking" oil. And yeah, yeah, I know :needpics: when I did this I was in a hurry, my apologies, I'll try and post pics later on Sunday of the finished product.
  5. I just replaced the BA-10 in my 88 because of the same issue,"noise coming from the tranny at idle, goes away when the clutch is pushed in". I felt that the BA-10 was on its way out, it did shift OK though. Only differences in my situation are : I replaced the tranny with another BA-10, didn't want to fear a used internal slave failing, so I replaced the slave/throw out assy with a new one. I used the original clutch and pressure plate (money issue) put it all back together, the "noise" is back, but not as bad as with the first tranny. I think the clutch disk is warped or something. My final fix? Picked up an AX-15 last weekend, got the linkages, mount, crossmember, master slave throwout assy (internal), guy even threw in the 231 for free, he said it "popped out of gear" in low range, I think because it was wrecked, it threw the linkages out of adjustment. All for $125 bucks. For now, I'm just going to run the Goat till it dies, keep the AX in "stock", buy a NEW clutch, and slave assy for it for when it's needed. Sorry for going off topic but my point is that my problem didn't go away with a new throwout assy, I think either both trannys had bad mainshaft input support bearings or the clutch disk is the culprit, because I used the same one on both trannys.
  6. 4.0 Renix was a collaboration of Renault and Bendix Corp. to produce engine controls. 87 t0 90 model years. 4.0 HO engine controls produced by Chrysler 91 and up model years. Renix and HO engine parts and controls are not interchangeable.
  7. Well It's done as it is gonna get for now. I'm sure in the future It'll get more. BTW I bought an extra AX-15 and 231 for $125 this past weekend, I'll probably put it in this truck when the BA-10 goes south. Maybe someday It will get paint. Tomorrow, time to cruise.
  8. Welcome to the club! Good to see another one saved, keep the pics coming as work progresses.

    New tires:

I thought it was illegal to run recaps on a commercial steering axle?
  11. If you replace that dust seal, I'd really like to see a pic of the shifter cane taken apart. The part where the two square pieces come together.
  12. Looks like you got a pic of one of those "rod" things.
  13. Reminds me of a "cruit" (new recruit) who had six flat tires on a Gamma Goat, he said that he was told to change his winter air for summer air in his tires. And no, It was not me. :rotf: Actually I think it would be kind of cool to have a Gamma Goat..................

    New tires:

I bought five, 33-12.50 15 Treadwrights for one of my trucks, I'd have to say that the things that sold me on the recaps was this: First the price, I got the tires with matching casings delivered for $536 dollars. Second was the fact that some commercial airliners use them, bet a lot of people don't even know that they are landing on retreads. The tires are rated for a set # of take-off/landing cycles, then retreaded again. The "seasoned" casings are kind of like a rebuilt engine block, actually better the second time around.
  15. TASAIEC? :dunno:
  16. I'd buy it. Some of these vehicles can be worth a lot of money. http://wagonmaster.com/complete.htm

  18. Well I'm nearly done enough to make this one a driver. Some of the other things I have done are: fixed the valve cover oil leak, Increased the CC ventilation with larger hose and manifold fittings. Installed a brush guard that I picked up off of CL for $80 delivered. Installed visor $80 off of Ebay. Took the tires off of Megan Joy-87MJ. Removed cleaned and adjusted the throttle body TPS. Dig the visor! I really like the pic above. The back tires now match the fronts, not seen in this last pic. Aw heck I'll just post this: To do list: Fix all wiring- Done Replace slave cylinder- Done Replace transmission- Done Adjust tailgate- Done Fix drivers door hinges- Done Adjust both doors- Done Replace door seals Done Remove, clean, reinstall carpet- Done Fix holes in floor, install bedliner- Done Replace drivers side fender- Done Replace bumper- Done Replace grill- Done Fix head lights, turn sig lights and doors- Done Replace dash- Done Repair headliner- Done Tighten control arm bolts- Done Lock CAD over- Done Remove and plug vacuum lines- Done Rebuild front axles (U-Joints)- Done Rebuild both drive shafts- Done Change engine oil- Done Change F&R diff fluids- Done Tighten spindle nuts- Done Refill trans and TC- Done Fix license plate light- Done Shocks-replaced rears-kept fronts- Done Replace rear bumper- Done Switch tires off of the 87- Done Install starter- Done Replace harmonic balancer- Done Fix battery box- Done New battery (blem) Done Fix sway bar mounts- Done Fix/install back-up light harness- Done Replace battery cables- Done Check coolant protection- Done Change fuel and air filter- Done Fix valve cover- Done Fill engine oil- Done Fix/check vac lines- Done Check alignment, sway bar clearance, center- Done Install brush guard- Done Install visor- Done Inspect brakes- Done Replace broke wheel stud (rear)- Done Fix rearview- Done Install some kind of lights on the grill guard Done Fix speedo cable Done Install new cluster Done Install stereo Done Estimated cash output-start to finish, less than a thousand dollars. can't find my camera, so I'll try and post more pics when I find it. Last but not least, put CC sticker on! Done
  19. Are you meaning having the second panel hanging there by the first, replacing the circuits as needed. Got any pics ?
  20. What is the purpose of this ? Seems like a restricter in the intake tract. what are the pro's and con's to removing it ?
  21. Wonder if he got his road rash yet ?
  22. SVO ?
  23. Fitment says 91-92. Your sig says you have an 88 don't know if it matters.
  24. That thing is pretty cool, I wonder if it was based off of an existing vehicle like a harvester or something? Or maybe the guy is some kind of mechanical engineer, or a really good back yard fabricator. Sounds like it's diesel powered, can't see any chain drives, I think it is hydraulic. Last point of mention, it appears the suspension is not "passive" for lack of a better term, meaning it seems the driver has to continuously operate the suspension/drives. Any way you look at it, it's one heck of a feat of engineering.
  25. :agree: x2
