When I was a kid, here in SE MT. we used to get real winters, I mean the snow would be on the ground from Dec. threw Apr. avg. temp about 0 degrees. Now; when it snows, even in the dead of winter, we're lucky if the snow stays on the ground for a week. I definitely see a change in weather patterns from when I was a kid. I believe things are changing, I just hope as human beings we'll pull our heads out of our *****, wake up and see how things really are. I know I might not see the total effects of the future before I die, but I feel I owe It to our mother earth, our children and our grandchildren to at least do my part in preserving the future for those who come after us. How many people actually give much thought that our descendants, are gonna be the ones who have to clean up the mess that we've created? Or do we not care cause we'll be dead and gone? In my eyes I can't fix it alone, but I try to do my part, be conscious of the choices I make and pray my best for the future, especially for my childrens future. Peace

Only bad thing about this whole deal, between my 2 friends and I, we bought three MJs in two days.($75 total) I totally stripped a wrecked a fourth ($40), Probably not a single MJ left on the rez worth chasing. I'm kind of sad, cut my own throat, gave up all my MJ "stash", oh well, counting mine we'll have four of them running around within a twenty mile radius.  :clapping:

Thank you! Full of warm fuzzys myself! :clapping:

Today was an MJ day, so I've made a total change of plans concerning this MJ. I got it for free......so I gave it to my friend for free, as long as he is going to resurrect it. Actually not totally free, I told him I want the front skid, and a set of Jeep wheels for "Megan Joy",done deal. Like I said this was an MJ day, We inquired about another 4cyl long bed (same condition or worse than this 86) no answer on that one. Then on the way home, I know where there are a couple more junked MJs, we stopped and scored again! My friend bought a bed for this 86, and a 2wd 4cyl 5spd short bed, for a hundred bucks (not sure about a title yet on this one.) Me, I got the remains of another wrecked MJ with black interior, sliding glass, rear flares, both taillights, $50 BUCKS! Best thing of all..........I didn't part a rebuildable truck, I gave a truck away for free, bought two more people into the fold, now my friend and his son both have MJs, although they have numerous XJs they were pretty much unaware of MJs till they seen the two I have, then they wanted MJs of their own. My friends aren't too internet savvy, they agreed I could post a few pics of their builds in the pub if I wanted. So from time to time I'll do this as their Father and Son builds.

Things are kind of up in the air as to what I'm going to do with this truck. If I part it, I'll probably keep this back window, although I do have another slider back window that I'd probably sell at that time.
-
Actually the whole truck is savable, with enough time money and effort. As far as the bed goes, I don't Know....... When you look down the side from the back of the truck, looking towards the fuel filler door, you can see where the fire warped the panels some. You can also see the heat damage on the cab corner. I'm thinking AX-5, 207 TC, Data tag on the D30 says 4 10 .

I was given this 86 for free. I'm not sure what I'll do with it, as it has a 4cyl and I'm not very fond of long beds, somebody started on fixing the clutch and this is as far as they got, that was over two years ago. Looks like the truck was very close to a fire, warped the bed a little. I'm thinking this truck has seen it's last trail, although it will live on in the usefulness in the parts that I will get off it for my other two MJs. Parts salvaged:both taillights, tailgate, F/R 4:10 axles, black interior, B pillar lights, front skid, TC skid, tilt column, matching key sets, seat brackets, slider back window This truck has 4:10s which in itself makes a real strong argument to part it out. I'm not sure, but I think it has a D35 which is the only bummer, oh well ............ Image Not Found

Myself, I think it's great! The man has made history, again. whether he deserves it or not was not made by a bunch of Americans with "opinions". The decision to give the award our president received was made by the Nobel Prize Committee in Sweden. I seriously doubt the committee was swayed or influenced, if I was to believe that then I'd be saying the whole Nobel Prize thing was a joke, I don't think that MLK Jr.,Einstein,Kipling, and many others would think this was a joke. I don't always agree with our President or his governmental policies, but I do give credit to the man for the job he is doing. Besides there isn't a person on this board that wouldn't cause anger or discontent with some group or person,if they were President, the man has the most important/hardest job in the world. If I could I'd shake his hand, tell him that I'm proud of him, and that I'm proud to be an American living in a country where we can make the choice to elect people like him,if we choose. Besides,I might not even like him next term.

:smart: I was wanting to put a new oil pump in the minivan when it was showing extremely low pressure, old guy I know, talked me out of it. He said that if my bearings were worn to the point of causing low pressure, a new pump would increase my pressure, but it greatly increased the chance of having a spun bearing from it, the increased pressure could push one of the bearings out, cause it to ride under the other one = spun bearing. Makes sense to me. BTW turns out that my oil press. sending unit was bad, replaced that, now I got adequate pressure again.

This is Mojo sportin the black eye I gave him(with a sharpy). He is an 8yr old Red Heeler/Australian Shepard mix. He is AKA Dumb @$$, says so on his dog tags, even answers and comes to it. I got him when he was still runny poopin all over the place. Yes, he has a police record, reason for the AKA...... Few More pics of him. Loves water! Image Not Found Mojo got his name because where I got him from, he was named Mo. All the pupies in the different litters were named after movie themes or characters. Wyat, Doc, Mo, from the OK coralle. Mo sounded too close to no, so it was simple enough to change his name to Mojo, and the rest is history. He follows me everywhere, is super smart, obeys hand signals, very loyal and protective. Loves pick up trucks!

I'd go for the motor swap/conversion in a heartbeat. To me, swapping in a 80k mi engine in place of one that has 190k and a possible blown headgasket, doesn't even seem like a question to me. If you have the resources and the time, looks like you could end up with a decent truck. You can always save the headgasket one for a spare/builder.

I realize that I live in a big state, but just the same, I haven't seen but 1 Comanche on the street since I got the "addiction". That was over a year ago in Billings. Are there any other CC members from "The Big Sky Country"? One more thing, what region would I be in for meet and greets etc. I live in the SE corner of the state?

WOW! That's a beautiful car! I can see why your wife calls her "The other woman". -
Got the interior 98% done, all that's left is to install the rearview mirror, put the stock radio back in, install the dash, and steering wheel covers. I even fixed all the stock stereo wiring so that all the speakers work. Not sure if I'm going to keep the door panels and speaker grills the way they are though. The door panels came out of an XJ that had power windows. Next on the agenda is to swap out the BA-10 for one of the same that's in my donor XJ.

yes and yes. The 207 has straight cut planetary gears in it so it's definitely kind of noisy in low-range.High-range is straight threw 1to1 so you shouldn't hear any appreciable noise from it in 2wd. The 207 I had was low on oil, after I filled it,it was a little quieter, but still made some noise in low range.

BA 10/5 fill plug tool
64 Cheyenne replied to navigator's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If your grinding on a piece of "tool" steel make sure you keep it cool, don't let it get red hot,so as you won't loose the "temper" of the steel. -
I understood that last post just fine, what people are saying is,post as if you are doing a term paper, not texting your girlfriend. Lots of people on this board are more than willing to help,It's just we need to communicate in language that can be understood. Personally,I don't "Text".

I like the idea of using air soft pellets, the chart on the above link says to use 8 OZ. per wheel, for my tire/rim size. Ebay has pellets in 2,4,5 thousand lots. How many thousand pellets should it take to reach the required amount for my wheel? This would be X4 of course. Could somebody possibly give me an idea of how much a thousand pellets weighs?

Donor Engine Storage
64 Cheyenne replied to 64 Cheyenne's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm not wanting to "start" it again in the near future. I'm wanting to be able to have a good usable engine in storage, that I might not start for two or three years. When it comes time to use it I'm hoping it to have been stored correctly so that I might not have too many issues with rings, bearings, seals, and gaskets. Only reason I might even consider the bellhousing thing,is if might want to sell it in the future. Back to my original questions...... -
Donor Engine Storage
64 Cheyenne replied to 64 Cheyenne's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I think I need the bellhousing to mount the starter. Besides once the trans is out it is just getting that much closer till the whole thing is gone. I was thinking of trying to put a bellhousing back on it,just so I could start it but I think that is kind of moot as I'm not putting the old tranny back in it,it's not worth the time or effort. Actually don't even know if i can do this. Just want to pickle the engine for later use.
