  1. Do you have any pics of you bending the radius with the handyman jack?
  2. Thanks for the confirmation, seeing as how the gaskets are now worth gold it's good to know that there is a verified way (By mfpdm) to remove them undamaged. My only fear is coming out of the mall and finding somebody took my back gasket, hasn't happened but :headpop:
  3. Replace the line? Got pics?
  4. If I can't find a stock one, I might do something like that. I kick myself in the butt when I think that I traded my freeby MJ to my friend, I never realized that it had the backwall piece that I need.
  5. Pics?
  6. I had these same kind of problems with my cluster swap. I pulled the cluster back out. Then clearanced the plug openings (female side) with an x-Acto knife so that the male plug would "click" into place easier. Before I reconnected the plugs, I took a sharp object and pulled up on the electrical contacts (male side) to increase contact pressure. Actually my problem was with the gas gauge, after I did this I reinstalled it, no problems.
  7. What kind of insulation?
  8. Searching for the carpeted panel that goes on the back wall of my cab, black preffered. But I might consider another color. I'd find out if that carpet/ fabric dye stuff works very well. Oh yeah, I'm in Mont. 59323
  9. 23 spline count 231 transfer cases are always in demand. If your old TC (231) is still good, a possible way to save on shipping is to just source/change the needed 23 spline input. Someone on the board here sold me just the input for like $30 bucks. I had to split the case to swap it but it was pretty easy to do. If you can pull a tranny, splitting a TC is doable. Besides it gives a person a better understanding of how a TC works. Learning is always a good thing, and in this case could be cheaper. :smart:

  11. Shop Plaque-"MJ Comanche" in selected fonts etc. I like bumper tie in brackets BTW I really need a set of these :brows: :D
  12. Since that truck came with either a V-6 or a 4cyl, the easiest swap is with the same engine that came out of it. What motor might that have been? My friend just finishing a 4.0 swap into his 86 (it had a 4cyl) he totally swapped all the wiring (engine compartment and dash), had to clearance the trans tunnel with a BFH, totally rebuilt the radiator core support to fit the 4.0 radiator. With the 350-SM465 The easiest category is nowhere to be seen. 4.0 AX-15 Lots of work, doable, definitely not in the easy category, but it is the best choice.
  13. Classic Rock, sometimes the comedy Chanel. On this http://www.slacker.com/everywhere/ I really dig the slacker, plug it in, let it go. Where I live there aren't much for radio stations, satellite radio is an option, but it costs money. The Slacker has 25 channels that I choose, cost.......free. Bought my slacker for $37 delivered-ebay.
  14. Yeah I know a blond joke or two. Not really sticking up for Courtney Hanson, well OK, yeah I am. Seems she's not just a smokin hot bod, but she's got some pretty deep roots in the auto world, her family's got quite a racing history to back her up.
  15. 2dr XJ buckets because they flip forward.
  16. An easy way to do this is to splice a fuse holder into the hot wire, behind the kick panel 1 - hot wire in, 2 wires out, 1 - hot to the fuel pump, 2 - goes to a switch that goes to ground. this way you can put your switch just about anywhere convenient without taking the hot wires to it. when you want to disable your fuel pump, close the switch, if the truck is started the fuse blows, fuel pump shuts down.....no go no mo. :clapping: To restart, open the switch, replace the fuse.
  17. youve mentioned the REZ before I'm just wndering what youve been talking about. but also i know exactly what your talking about. :dunno: Yeppers Rez=Reservation. There's a gold mine in old vehicles on these places but a white man ain't got a chance in h*ll of mining them. Usually around the third week of the month when things are a little tight, people are more willing to sell things. And then sometimes, doesn't matter when people just plain want too much for their stuff. I been trying to talk this kid out of his broke down XJ kid won't go below $400 for it :headpop: :rotf: :rotf: Then other times......."Smoking Deals" like the $100 I gave for the 88 that I'm driving now (Megan Joy), or the full cluster I bought the other day for $17, it was what I had in my pants pocket, offered it......Deal!
  18. Two big signs I look for........calving season............ seen first baby calves on Friday    And the return of meadowlarks, my daughter and I make it a point to see who hears one first. :clapping: Probably won't hear them till end of March.
  19. On the Rez, when a vehicle breaks down it sits for a while, the owner says they are going to fix it when "they get their check", then it gets put up on blocks, a kid breaks a couple of windows, the cats start living in it, wino uses it for a place to sleep, owner starts throwing trash in it because their too lazy to take it to the dump (trash), when I come along and ask about it, The damn thing turns to gold right before my eyes!  :rotf:
  20. 1. Each transmission has a specific transfercase linkage bracket where it mounts to the transmission. 2.Auto transmission has a flex plate, kind if thin, the torque converter bolts to it. The torque converter acts like a flywheel, among other things in a auto trans. 3.There is a hole in the end of the crankshaft, it's not used in an auto, but on a manual transmission, the input shaft (pilot shaft) fits into the end of the crankshaft, there is a "pilot" bearing or bushing there to support the front of the pilot shaft. 21. manual......Yeah that one. :rotf:
  22. Is the airbox full of oil?
  23. He can keep the same TPS from the AW-4, it'll idle a little higher is all. No harness changes with the exception that the AW-4 TCU will not be used or hooked up any more. The TCU is a stand alone system, no changes will need to be done with it unless you want to remove it
  24. Definitely CPS being damaged will cause no fire. If the transmission moved to damage the CPS; why did this happen, in other words what is the root cause of the damage?
