Comanche Tailgate Rust Repair
64 Cheyenne replied to ComancheFan's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just get the 2dr switches first, thats the peach. Any 4dr, power window, front XJ doors, 96 down for ease of swap, will fit. You can get these anytime, like I said "the 2dr switches...." Pull your wiring when you pull your doors, or fab your own harness, there is a schematic posted on the board somewhere. -
99 2.5L 2 Door Xj 8.25 4:10 ratio 2wd
64 Cheyenne replied to Strokermjcomanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I wouldn't pay a hundred, I'd offer $50, ask them to throw the bent housing for free or tell them you'd bring it back after you got the gears out. Myself, I wouldn't think twice about running used gears as long as they don't have heat or physical damage. I like saving money however I can. I just came back from the JY where I got the rear axle . They are firm on their prices . The other axle is at another yard , I'd like to open it up before I bought it to make sure they are not damaged . Maybe he'll wheel and deal ... If it was me, money would not changed hands if they would not open it up, same goes for trannys, and anything else that you can visually inspect or check fluid condition. -

Still think you should swap out the TPS, it's a common symptom for AW4 not shifting. -
1989 comanche $10500
64 Cheyenne replied to TieDyeJK8's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
There was a real nice 88 shortbed near me, on a car lot, $4995. It sat for over a year, but the guy got his price. -

At least go get the 2dr window switches, they're kind of rare and if you want power windows in your MJ, they look right. -

Power window switches if the door panels are still inside, I doubt it though... -

Comanche Chief - Aged to Perfection

I'd rather see this than a trip to the scrap yard if a fan hadn't found it. Kind of looks like that's where it was headed.... -
29, 30, 32....on CC? Didn't see them on "Cruisers Mostly Renix Tips"....

Had this issue once on an XJ, cleaned/dried connectors at TB, problem went away. -
Tale of the tape will tell....measure the width of the sliders, go from there.

Is the slave releasing, MC full? -
:agree: But I would of made it camo with a less Cali look, would look good covered in mud and trail scratches...
-
Since the TCU for a Renix is stand alone, couldn't a person make their own stand alone harness between the AW4controls, NSS, and the TCU?
-
I've been thinking of an HO motor into a Renix, What about keeping the HO manifold, using the HO TB, with a Renix TPS sensor to HO TB conversion, and am wondering how well the this set up works...never mind OP said without a lot of changes.

CAD dana 30 in grand Cherokee
64 Cheyenne replied to Jackrabbit41's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
In good conscience, no? -
Is when you spy an MJ in a back yard and the people tell you it's junk and you can just drag it away....This was my second MJ, which I promptly gave to my friend George for free, 5yrs ago. He did some hocus pocus title/vin/dash work and now he has a beautiful licensed longbed MJ, and I got a friend for life.

If it's replacing a Dana 30 of the same ratio it'll fit, work fine. One thing to point out is the brakes are gonna be different, but will still work. Just have to remember to purchase for a Comanche, or he could swap knuckles, but why? when you could get correct complete axle from a from ZJ WJ etc. -
1995 4.0 Fuel injection to carb
64 Cheyenne replied to Jeepjeff859's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
:agree: Even the antiquated Renix system is more reliable and performs better than a carb. Carburetors are like incandescent bulbs, worked well in their time, but technology has evolved to make them inefficient and unreliable. I know you could debate light bulbs, but it was used as a metaphor. -
If I had to make a choice between a nice MJ with a 4cyl and a rusted pos hulk with 4.0, well let me just say there wouldn't even be an issue, 4cyl and nice beats rusty pos 4.0 any day....

Beyond linkages and shift technique, I suggest you check your fluid level, eliminate that as being part of the issue.
