I do not understand why you would think its not but what ever... Cummins 4BT 4 cylinder turbo diesel engine. Nice diesel engine upgrade. Hell, its a full size, why not shoehorn in a 5.9 24 valve 6BT! Nice find. I had one the same color, same interior. Loved that thing. Most comfortabble vehicle I ever owned.

Air condition recharge
dasbulliwagen replied to xj_dummy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
There is also a procedure for opening and closing the valves. If you don't do it correctly, you will let all your refrigerant right out into the atmosphere. Same goes for your vacuum. I always have to look it up when I'm doing it, just saying you need to be careful with that. -
Where to buy parts?
dasbulliwagen replied to Patriotic Sheepdog's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
There is NO source for tail lights other than Junkyards, or used ones for $300 on ebay. There are a few other MJ specific parts that that is also true for, such as the cab vents, the rear fender flares, the parking brake mechanism, and the seat tracks. If youre looking for stock parts, most any auto parts stores should be able to fix you up on common stuff, Crown is a good source for parts, but they only sell through dealers. Other than that, just search the internet to find what you need. Good luck with the new MJ and welcome to the club. -
The uber rare 21 slot grille!  Ive never seen one of those in person. They are rarer than the Waggy grilles! What you have there is exremely sought after. Wanna sell?

I hope you realize how difficult it is to get pics of these events. And your word should be your word if you want this thread to go anywhere. Yeah, pics would be great, but thats not always possible, especially if the car is going the opposite direction from you, which is how you would usually see a car like that. :fool:

The factory wiring runs as one harness all the way to the other side of the dash usually terminating at the pass side kick plate where the antenna wire hooks up, and then again at the heater/AC controls on the HVAC housing. I'm not sure if its possible to pull the whole harness out or not wiithout removing the dash, but if youre sucessful, let us know!

Surging during acceleration
dasbulliwagen replied to dasbulliwagen's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Bump? -
I am thinking that if you want a complete uncut harness, youll need to pull the entire dash out to get the harness out intact, and replace the whole interior harness just to get the radio plug. I agree with nicely repairing the original, maybe get some of the fully insulated male and female spade connectors with the shrink ends to make a clean repair, and plug it all back in real nice. It all depends on how much work you want to do to get it like you want it.

project shark attack '91 sportruck

You need to go back to that yard and get the waggy front to put on your truck! -
I don't think it counts if it has a Chevy engine in it.... it aint a Comanche anymore....in my opinion.

Bosses truck, 88 MJ 4.0, AW4 4x4, all stock. While accelerating it seems to surge up and down enough to rock you back and forth while driving it. It does it some too while steady driving, but not as bad. He also said that sometimes it will bog out if you try to get on it hard. Not sure if related or not, but I'm having vacuum issues on it too to the point of it constantly changing the AC vent settings from vent to defrost and back depending on how far you are into with the gas pedal. I know that the farther open the throttle the less vacuum is available, but following the vac lines to the bulb and back there does not appear to be any breaks or issues anywhere. Same goes for the vac lines to the EGR and the air box thermostatic bypass. Any ideas? Id greatly appreciate it, and gain more brownie points with the boss.

I did a 42oz steak challenge at the Grille House in southern Michigan. I had 2 beers, 3 glasses of water, 2 bowls of salad, the 42oz steak, a baked potato, and a large slice of cheesecake. Afterward I felt suprisingly fine! Drove home even! Good try though, you might have to practice up, and go try again!

Dicks New to Me MJ Build
dasbulliwagen replied to dick.breakey's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
I havent looked yet but I think he means spring over shock.... kinda like a strut. -
Had that happen recently on a customers car, they took it to a shop for a flush, the shop flushed it then installed a cooling system sealer stuff ( like stopleak) and then had overheating problems... radiator inside was completely gummed up, installed a new rad, and all was well.

Buy a set, measure them, return them! Good luck!

'74(ish) VW Dune Buggy Build
dasbulliwagen replied to neohic's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
My grandfather built one of these, though not this particular one, as I don't have any images scanned from it, but the one he built is the same color with the same striping. Wild little thing on a VW pan shortened I think either 22-24 inches. My dad has it now. Theres no telling if Ill ever get it because there is a lot of controversy in the family as to who should get it next, as it was my mothers father who built it, not my dads dad. can't wait to see your project make progress! -
Minor misfire when idling ('89 4.0L AW4)
dasbulliwagen replied to Jerry's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, injectors, dirty valves, burned valves, can all cause a misfire condition. Maybe run some seafoam through, check your spark plugs, maybe go out at night and fire it up and look for arcing from the plug wires. Good luck.
