http://www.eastwood.com/autobody/seam-sealer.html Fixed it for you. I have used similar products in the past. This stuff is more like what the factory uses than anything else out there. It will fill bigger gaps, dries firm but not hard, and is paintable.

2.5 and 2.8 rads are the same, but use different shrouds. But I also know that autos on the 2.5 are even rarer. I have the 2.8 auto setup in my donor vehicle, but have plans for it all later. Sorry. Also had to send a nice one to the crusher during the cash for clunkers debacle. Sorry, I'm throwing gasoline on a fire.

Ive drank enough of a few of those, to know that I don't ever want to do it again.... "enough" usually meaning 1. I guess I just don't drink enough all together to want to go cheap like that. I prefer Newcastle Brown, Negra Modello, or any other good dark Ale. Nice though! This is definitely getting frowarded!

Looked at the pic again.... the crack across the top is probably not your only crack. The bolt flange part of the bellhousing is probably cracked too if youre getting enough movement to not enage the clutch properly. I have a feeling that if you reinforce just the top area, youll likely just break out the bottom area where you can't see it. I think a new bellhousing or new trans is your only real option.

Went to wally world last night.... they don't have the lifetime warranty blades anymore..... oh well.

Havent updated in a while, but then again havent done much. The woodgrain is all gone, but I still need to polish it. I'm kinda waiting till I do a little bodywork to the rear lower bedcorner. At that time Ill put the finishing touches on the rear bumper.... knocked off my temporary plate holder loading a lawnmower the other day, almost grabbed one off a used cherokee here at work but didnt get it in time. I have a list of stuff Id like to get at a picknpull anyways... need to convince the wife to let me have a few bucks for it, Though that may not happen till next spring. Still have my 4x4 trans sitting here on the floor waiting to go in, and have almost finished making new rear spring shackles to get my stance back after putting the 4wd front axle and springs in the front. I need to update all the pictures of everything too... coming soon, I promise.

So, thats what a 2.5 is supposed to look like with no oil on it? HUH! Maybe someday.... a man can dream can't he?

Engine remanufacture or rebuild the head
dasbulliwagen replied to 2360's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I assume the price youre quoting us is with a reman engine and all labor to remove old engine and install new engine.... right? I was thinking you can get reman 4.0 engines WAY cheaper than that, but if you arent doing any labor yourself it could be in the ballpark. It pays too to get more than one quote for this job. Youd be suprised how much difference there can be between shops. Good luck. -
^^^^^^ But seriously, I have little to no off road experience. The most off road Ive done is when I took my Grand Wagoneer into a 2 track trail on this property that was owned by the college I was working at, and when I came back out found the gate had been closed and locked. I put the Waggy in 4 low and noticed a less used exit where a fence was fallen over, only to go right through a ditch along the edge of the dirt road. A few frame bumps later and I was out. Did the same thing over a huge curb with the Waggy to get primo parking spot at a concert as I drove over the grass and huge curb right into the spot!

is it a good lifetime warranty? like will they actually replace the blades when they go bad? I'm not sure if its a good lifetime warranty or not as Ive never replaced any of them yet. I mostly expect that when I go back to wally world they won't even be selling them anymore, not that the warranty would let the be traded in like craftsman tools. My take on them at this point is that theyve lasted soo long at this point, I don't care about the warranty. I'm going to wally world tonight, maybe Ill try to remember to look to see if theey are still there and what the warranty actually says.

Are you replacing the arms with the late models style? I'm not sure why you would replace the arrms unless you think the springs are weak. And for blades, Wal-Mart has some silicone blades that have a lifetime warranty for about the same price as regular ones. Ive had them on my vehicles for quite a while now with no issues. Before these, I would replace blades every 6 mos, but havent needed to with these. They seem to be holding up very well.

I think youre screwed. Sorry. There is NO permanant fix for this other than removing the trans and take it to a shop that can properly weld it.... most machine shops have the ability.... or replace it. It is a BA10-5 after all. Looks like its time to find an AX-15. EDIT.... aluminum has to be heated to a certain temp before any welding can happen. And a regular mig with mild steel wire... with or witout Argon gas WILL NOT weld aluminum.

A machinist would respond like that because he is used to absolute precision. When it isnt absolute he has no other way to respond. But that being said, I have heard of and seen worse things work without a problem. You sound like you know what youre doing, and you have a goal to keep budget as low as possible. I'm sure that if youre smart about it and clean working that it should work out fine, and if it doesnt, then youre out nothing but your own labor, and you can start over. If thats what you have to work with, then go for it! I wish you nothing but luck.... youll be fine!

need help choosing some stuff
dasbulliwagen replied to STERLING STINGER's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ive been wondering about Pitbull tires for a while... if they are worth going for. They make a real nice looking very aggressive all-terrain I like. here's the link. Not sure about prices... also, its 31-11.50x15 instaed of 10.50... not sure if that would be a big deal or not. http://www.pitbulltires.com/growler_radials.php edit.... found prices, and they do make a 10.50 http://www.4wheelerssupply.com/catalog/ ... 68_516_526 http://www.4wheelerssupply.com/catalog/ ... 68_516_723 -
You need to remember too, that being a junkyard, it COULD be completely unrelated to the truck.

Why is my coolant boiling?
dasbulliwagen replied to MrFreeze5's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Could be the bad head gasket is pressureizing your system. Or you have a weak pressure cap, but if you know your head is cracked, thats probably it, the truck shouldnt boil that quickly anyways. Sorry man! -
Would a 96 grand cherokee dana 30 fit?
dasbulliwagen replied to btm24's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks for correcting Eagle. I must be thinking of the KJ's.... not sure Ive ever seen a KJ that want 3:73. -
I think there were some differences in cranks too, like different ends where the pulley goes on between some of the years, but don't quote me on that. Also, the early ones had a V-belt drive instead of the serpentine too, though there is some controversy as to when exactly that started.

Its easier to ask forgiveness than it is to ask permission!

If you want to send me your VIN by PM I can run it through Chrysler for you to give you a build sheet. I would also need your milage too. I'm a Jeep dealer tech and have access to Chrysler info.

Would a 96 grand cherokee dana 30 fit?
dasbulliwagen replied to btm24's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Assuming this axle is 3:73, you could find a donor rear axle geared 3:73 from a ZJ or a KJ,as XJ's and MJ's with 3:73 gearing is very rare. They will need perches welded on if you get a ZJ or KJ donor. I'm not 100% sure, but I'm thinking late model XJ's with the 8 1/4" axles might have 3:73's though some reasearch would need to be done. It would be cheaper to get a matched donor than it would be to regear your current axle. Good luck. -
If you are going to upgrade gears, don't do it to a dana35. XJ Chrysler 8 1/4", XJ Dana 44, and Explorer 8.8" axles are abundant, strong and buildable. I don't see a dana 35 lasting very long with 35" tires even if you are an easy driver. Putting the money into gearing a 35 is a waste, when youll need to get a bigger axle anyways. But the Dana 30 is buildable to last with 35" tires. Regear the 30 and beef it up with better axles and U-joints, and maybe truss it and youll be fine on that end. Good luck.

Pm the VIN to me with milage, and Ill get it for ya.
