  1. x2. that connector was bad in my 88. :(
  2. everyone should get the 100 bucks just for getting inspected. just got our letter today :D
  3. as easy as it is to swap in a lunchbox locker, I'd swap it in in the fall and remove it come springtime if it really gets annoying. :D not optimal, but probably the cheapest. could do the same for the front for max traction!

    Tire dilemma

doing pretty good for an old dog. my snow tires never whined. :dunno: ran them down to practically nothing by the time I had to sell the van.

    Tire dilemma

tirerack.com has some sets of 4 for 350 plus a 100 dollar mail in rebate. that's a set of 4 for 250!!!!! eek! (shipping and mounting not included, but still!) http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=General&tireModel=Altimax+Arctic&partnum=27QR6AMAXA&vehicleSearch=true&fromCompare1=yes&autoMake=Jeep&autoYear=2000&autoModel=Cherokee%20Classic&autoModClar=

    Tire dilemma

I'm going to be a little different and recommend snow tires. should easily be under 100 each. traction is phenomenal in any weather. total mileage might not be that great (20-30k) but a lot of cheap tires just plain suck in the snow. :( mileage be dammed... performance and braking is more important to me. :D just be sure to rotate them a bit more often than regular tires. and to show I'm not just blowing smoke, here are the snow tires I put on my minivan (back when I lived in michigan year round). and yes, I would do it again. (2 sets of tires is ideal, but if I could only have one, this is what i'd do)

    neat!
  8. well, hopefully 92mj01xj will chime in, but my guess is that those rear flares are actually front flares (swapped side-to-side). note that they don't go down very far in the rear.
  9. well, technically the cat is a federal emissions law, so yes, technically it would be against the law to remove it. mufflers will generally fall under local noise restrictions. running the engine sans muffler makes my 4.0 insanely loud. there's no way I'd run that way all the time.
  10. awesome! no such luck for those of us with 2000ish dodges :(
  11. think so. we've been ignoring the letters because ours is both a diesel and already has a factory hitch. but I'm more than happy to remove it for 100 bucks and a new hitch
  12. they are offering money now?! dang. I wonder if they'll break down and send us some cash for our liberty :D
  13. I'm a lot less crazy about the sportruck squiggle :dunno:
  14. Not me! Moderators come around and censor swear words I type out. :P it's me, all me (using the auto-correct software). just trying to maintain a family-friendly and mildly PC atmosphere. and I like the red swoosh. very 90s. a bunch of years ago I almost bought a white MJ with that decal but it was in horrible shape.
  15. whoops, seem to have deleted my own post while trying to edit it. must be tired. :( anywho, here's an updated link: http://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/two-u-s-military-members-rushed-france-train-attacker-n414126?cid=sm_fb
  16. wait, are you running the renix system or the HO system?
  17. any muffler shop should be able to make you one.
  18. dunno for sure. Didn't measure and had no intention of using the Explorer main anyway. could easily be a couple inches lower. I used the MJ's #3 leaf to compensate. car-part.com can probably find you a pair of used leafpacks. also, every Explorer I've pulled an 8.8 from has been spring-under.
  19. the length measurements are only part of the story. arc when under weight is also very important. the explorer leafs were pretty close, but would lower an MJ.
  20. 4wd MJ leafs....2wd MJ leafs...Explorer leafs if I remember right (did the work in 06 and sold the truck years ago) I ended up using the 2wd MJ main (the explorer one is close but not close enough to center the tire in the wheelwell) and the two 4wd MJ lowest leafs (overload plus the one above it) with the Explorer main (with the eyes cut off) and the Explorer #2 leaf in between. got me a stock level truck. was a lot of work for no particular benefit, but I had to replace the MJ mains and they were all already in my possession so I mixed and matched til it was level again. oh, and the center pins on Explorer leafs are bigger and drilling through leafs is, um... fun. :( 2wd MJ main Explorer main with eyes removed Explorer #2 4wd MJ #3 (the most important one for retaining stock height) MJ overload edit: found a pic!
  21. crappy spring? sag from having a driver there all the time? bind in the suspension? unlevel ground? accident? super concentrated gravity at that point in the driveway? :dunno:

  23. :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: 4k lbs of Jeep vs 4 little bolts. I'll never understand why people will put loads of time/money into bumpers and rockers and still run a stock transmission crossmember. :dunno: seems to me like it's just a matter of time before a rock or stump finds it.
  24. maybe a case of grabbing whatever retainer bracket was available when they originally assembled the leafs? (meaning that might be a MT bracket on that left one)
