  1. nah. hooked them up to a separate switch/relay so I had more control over them. but if I was to wire anything to the trans switch, I'd still use a relay.
  2. ever since I added aftermarket lights as backup lights, I will not go back. never underestimate the awesomeness that is being able to see where you're going. :D
  3. Pueblo, Colorado
  4. spoken like a true non-rustbeltian. :D
  5. yes, several. :D
  6. that's about as bad as I've ever seen :( how good are you with a welder? tube bender? I mean, it's a frame, not rocket science. if you can build one, you're golden. :D having said that, you can get a rust free one from Jim (who lives in CO) shipped to your door for less than 1500.
  7. "widening the tunnel"? :hmm: never heard that one before. :???: items on the list (off the top of my head): t-case input (peugeot has a 21 spline output, AX-15 has a 23) pilot bearing (which one you get depends on the year of the new trans) crossmember (ax-15 one is different) stickshift is different trans mount is different
  8. just went out to the barn and I can confirm that is the one that worked for me.
  9. that is not likely to succeed. :( the HF one is $23 http://www.harborfreight.com/3-jaw-pilot-bearing-puller-4876.htmland they will send it to your door.
  10. harbor freight has one. might even be the one I used.
  11. try a different one. the first one I tried didn't work, but I got a 3 jaw one that did the trick. don't ask me where I got it from, it was a decade ago. :( I'd guess autozone, but that might be where I got the one that didn't work.
  12. in what way is your puller failing? what's happening? 2 jaw or 3 jaw?
  13. yeah, I'm gonna have to copy/paste that one onto my uncle's XJ  (assuming I ever get to start that project).
  14. what year is it? which engine?
  15. is your pilot bearing still intact? I found that mine was obliterated when I took my 88 apart. only the outer race remained.
  16. that's not all your problems. your post was filled with hyperlinks that you didn't put there. looks like your computer is infected too. :( I cleaned up what I could.
  17. the ZJ harness may share the same engine connection points, but the rest of it is very different. The ZJ and XJ share very little. A complete XJ harness would give you the best chance of a smooth transition (though you'll still need to splice into the MJ taillight harness). Beyond that I'm of little help as I haven't done an HO swap yet myself. there's probably some good info in the DIY forum.
  18. I would skip both of those harnesses and find another XJ harness that isn't trashed.
  19. MJ bucket seats share the same floor bracket.
  20. sooooo, florida has no lift laws at all?
  21. well, I stuck a fairly decent used one in it for now. it doesn't seem right to put you through a lot of hassle for a slightly better one. someday I hope to pimp it out with nos parts (though I doubt I'll ever even see an NOS flare) and saw a lonely taillight in your goodie pile. :D one of these days I'm going to wire it in to light up. and I still debate painting it 92 green. maybe if I ever find a door. by the way, check EVERY nook and cranny of that building if you can. if I remember right, this bedside was found jammed up in the rafters of a defunct dealership. :hmm:
  22. just need a drivers side to go in my nos bedside hanging on the wall. :D or barring that (since I couldn't afford it anyway), I'll take a fuel filler door.
  23. grab all you can, especially if it's free. doesn't really matter what it is. old NOS stuff can easily be resold on ebay.
  24. this month's MJotM is dedicated to MJ trailers! you should post your photos in the thread
