pull back the carpet in front of the driver's and passenger's feet and check for dampness in the padding. all MJs are prone to rain leakage into the cab and then rotting of the floorboards under the carpets. next poke your head up in front or behind the rear tire and check out the condition of the steel between the inner and outer panels. our trucks like to rust from the inside-out and right behind the rear fenders is a prime location for rot.

2 things to keep in mind: -the packs have to be stiff enough to resist spring-wrap -the shackle needs to be long enough or the leafs will bind upon full stuff. why are you wanting to go SOA and not stick with new metric ton leafs and SUA?

I guess the good news is that I've got no memory of anyone having more then the initial hairline cracks, meaning it doesn't seem to propagate into serious structural damage. but rain leakage is an issue.

stress fractures. :( comes with having a unibody rig. can happen to any MJ, but usually appears on rigs that are worked hard (either flexing or loaded up).

as he said, 30" tires will fit already. but if you want a bit of height, you can do a simple budget lift with 1.75" or 2" lift pucks up front and the chevy drop shackles in the rear. this will retain the stock brake lines, stock shocks, stock swaybar links, stock suspension parts and stock steering linkages. For a mild lift I'd get some WJ (99-04 grand cherokee) factory lower control arms. they are the same length as MJ, but fully boxed and have a much better bushing design. you can get brand new ones or from a junkyard (I paid $25 for mine). you just need to trim the steel bushing to the MJ width. :thumbsup: plus they have a cool tire-clearancing bend in them. :D

Most because the wife is tired of the revolving door of Jeeps. Didn't really talk price, but that seems to always be a problem for me lately. I'd need to go on a selling spree again like I recently did to put new shoes under the Ape. yeah, but this one is for her :brows:
