my 88's buildup was therapy too. :thumbsup: admittedly, first thing in the morning my motivation came from a couple dog noses shoved in my face, but after that nothing worked as well as wrenchin' to keep me going through the day :D sooooo many naps were taken under that truck :laughin:

d'oh! :doh: I keep forgetting about the extra inch that an auto has over the manual.

what are your plans for the future of this truck? daily driver? offroader? (please don't say winter transport) as stated above, complete 4.0/auto XJ will give you a pair of 3.55 geared axles, t-case (and shifter) and a front driveshaft. you'll then need a 4wd AX-15 trans and a rear driveshaft. make sure the parts you need are in good shape before buying a donor rig. car-part.com might help with your junkyard searches.

adding blocks to a SUA will lower it. :thumbsup: If it was me, I'd be looking at the HellCreek 3" leafs or metric ton leafs and put those on top of the SOA conversion.

I wish I had a street queen version of my 88. something I could actually touch and drive every day. things that go offroad tend to fall down that slippery slope of unreliability and damage. :( offroading is hard on rigs.

89 was the crossover year for the switch from 21 to 23 splines

I'd hate to jinx myself, but this weekend we might be getting a big ol' Husky brand toolbox for the shop :banana: if so I'll clean up the barn and share a pic. :D

the MJ does not have a "return" line. the second line is the emergency bypass line. if you ever have a front failure, the front combination valve (it looks like a prop valve, but it's not) will bypass the rear prop valve with full pressure through that second line. whether or not you keep that second line depends on if the needs of the aftermarket prop valve.

need more details about the Jeeps involved, mostly what engines they have.

what's your skill level? rebuilt anything yet?
