  1. want! :D
  2. XJ shackles are shorter than MJ shackles, but because of geometry of leaf springs, they only lower the truck half of the difference between the 2.
  3. well, the bright side is that more and more people are keeping them rather than just dumping them off at the junkyard.
  4. thanks guys! as awesome as that might sound, I'm very hesitant to go down that road because it takes more than money to make that happen. It requires work to set up, work to maintain, work to fix peoples problems, and a lot of responsibility on my shoulders to keep it all intact forever and ever. Yes, it is annoying when photos aren't in old threads, but for the most part google retains just about everything so you should be able to find anything important.
  5. if any of you guys wanted to throw a couple bucks at your site, now's the best time. the paypal ID is: comancheclub@hotmail.com or message me for an old-school postal address.
  6. all costs being equal, I'd go with 4.56 without any hesitation. If 4.10s are cheaper, then that's up to you. I've got 4.10s and 33s and I want a bit more gear for both highway and trail.
  7. doubtful. I'm catching up on the dvr and got to see their little tidbit and they never even said the word "comanche". as much as I can appreciate using the name in a truck racing series, if you can't even be bothered to get some stickers that look like the b-pillar vents, then please don't.
  8. 4.88s have a stigma for weakness (the gears become rather puny because of the tooth count), but there is plenty of beef on 4.10s.
  9. I love breaking out the recovery gear! what's the point of having all these cool toys if you never get to use them? :D looks like you had a great time . :MJ 1: .
  10. I would get the 44 regeared and convert it to disk brakes.
  11. I custom made mine. pretty easy too. used a hole saw to cut through the frame (both sides), cut some stress spreading plates with the holesaw and a grinder, cut 3 outriggers made from round DOM, and 2x2 1/4" for the rocker guard length. I don't have a real welder, so I had to farm that part out, but that was maybe 40 bucks. It functions as both frame strengthener and rocker guard.
  12. neat!
  13. car-part.com is a junkyard search engine that might be of help with locating used springs (and other parts)
  14. be sure not to crush any brakelines.
  15. nope. nor do I know of any that would help.
  16. just spitballin' here, but in my head the only way to rev that high that fast is for gobs and gobs of air to get into the engine. so either there is a massive vacuum leak or the throttle body is stuck open. :dunno: which computer system are you using? HO or Renix?
  17. http://comancheclub.com/topic/37727-how-to-post-pictures/
  18. comanche and cherokee labels are irrelevant here. the year of the jeep matters most when talking about wholesale swapping of drivetrains and wire harnesses. XJs and MJs are practically identical in each particular year. only real difference is the rear wiring harness and there are plenty of writeups on how to adapt XJ harness to MJ taillight wirings.
  19. ZJ and TJ dana 30 front axles will swap right in, but they are low pinion and I don't think they ever had 4.10 gears. your 500 budget should be able to get yourself a 4.10 XJ dana 30 front. you just need to find one.
  20. AX-5s and AX-4s came behind 2.5L2.8/2.1 engines. AX-15s and Peugeots came behind 4.0 engines the model of Jeep matters not, just the bolt pattern of the engine inside (2.5s have a different pattern than 4.0s). try car-part.com for junkyard searches. be sure to search for a variety of model years because the website lists thing by part number and those change over the years. later is better, but the early years can be upgraded with the later shafts with the bigger ujoints. brakes have changed in the MJ/XJ dana 30 over the years, but not in any substantial way.
  21. likely it will not. if I remember right, the 8.8 was pretty rare under a ranger, where as every Explorer 96-01 will have an 8.8 and disk brakes. and 4.10 gears are pretty common. try car-part.com for a junkyard search. don't forget that v6 and v8 models have identical axles, just the outside bracketry changed (which you're going to cut off anyways) so be sure to search for both.
  22. don't ever spend money on a dana 35. invest your cash into an axle that will last.
  23. far as I know, the bolt patterns are different
  24. ouch. I never thought it'd be that much. I would try another dealership.
