  2. nice rescue! love those rims. took years for me to find a set of my own.
  3. yup, a penny or 2 can usually extend their lifespan. the usual problem is that the pivot hole wallows out.
  4. I've seen so many rotted out floorboards that you'd think I'd get callused to it. but nope. makes my heart sink each time. thankfully it can all be fixed. floors aside, it looks like a solid platform for your build. should be a lot of fun!
  5. wait, the engine runs without the fuel pump being plugged in? there are some shenanigans going on under the truck for sure!
  6. did you find a fix for the hinges?
  7. so I'm finally back in GA and can get some numbers and my 88 refuses to stay running. I think the gas has finally officially become "old". I'll see if I can try again tomorrow.
  8. awesome! what'd ya do with the little triangle caps?
  9. well, now I need a record player in my Jeep. just great... hypothetical arguments and issues aside, at the end of the day this particular disk brake upgrade is as cheap and as easy as they come. hit the junkyard, find a ZJ with stuff in decent shape, bring parts home, install. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/rear-zj-disc-brakes-cherokee-xj-chrysler-8-25-a-57807/
  10. yeah, it looks like a fun alternative to the sidebysides. that grille though. it'd be the first thing I changed.
  11. wow, that is a heck of a fade! but a sweet Jeep none the less.
  12. you can bolt in the regular MJ ones or even late model XJ ones (which are bigger). if you do that, I'd love to have the little caps that are currently there.
  13. oh great... I retract that previous statement. now I want to build a front wheel drive truck.
  14. no apologies necessary. we all started at the bottom rung of knowledge. can you snap a pic of the 20?
  15. is the 25th a lesser alternative or simply not possible? I would have to do this on the way up or the way back from michigan and the 25th would already means an extra week in MI. having said all that, if my grandmother's heath drops just a small amount, but not enough for a nursing home, I'll likely just be up there with her for a lot longer than a few weeks and then need to figure out driving from MI to the badlands and back to MI and then all weekends are the same to me (except sept 8th).
  16. tree or rock? I've got plans to add a bed rail and steel fender flares, but protecting the doors is still a mystery to me (without going full cage on them)
  17. so far all I know is I arrive on the 14th.
  18. I am unavailable for the weekend of sept 8th, but could probably squeeze it in the 2 weekends before it or the 2 weekends after it.
  19. nope. but the way the database is set up, it's not hard to see all 20 in a row with posts counts.
  20. all has returned to normal. as I said, it was an experiment just to see what would happen.
  21. guest permissions have all been returned to normal so the spiders can feast on our tech. as a side note, over 20 people signed up in the last 24 hours as compared to less than 10 for the entire week previous.
  22. at no point in my life have I ever thought to myself, "self, you know what I wish we could buy, a front wheel drive pickup truck". you win the "weirdest mashup" contest for today. hands down. with a 455 pulling it along, I bet it's a blast to drive.
  23. the dana 30 is a decent axle and can live with 35s assuming you build it right. that usually means expensive shafts, joints, and maybe a truss thrown in. all depends on how crazy your offroad excursions will get.
