that's an intriguing idea. if the ZJ turned out to be the new XJ, then maybe the MJ would have been built on the ZJ chassis. that would certainly have made the v8 option more likely.

molded? as in no steel? or is it a steel gasket with a bit of extra gasket molded to it?

interesting. that might cause the spray to overshoot the glass, but there's no way to know without trying. keep us posted!

Codename Bumblebee: Now With Oil Pressure!
Pete M replied to Minuit's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
that's been my plan for years now. surprisingly enough, my truck only gets worse, not better. honestly, a new pump wouldn't be a bad idea to put on the replacement engine anyway so... cork gaskets suck. been there, done that. I always suggest the one-piece rubber version.- 60 replies

is your dana 30 stock? there are upgrades you can do that cost waaaaaaay less than trying to put a 44 in there.

that might be asking too much of my time traveling endeavors. but hey, I'll give it a whirl.

Is a 96 xj and a 92 mj a direct motor swap?
Pete M replied to Codybelec's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
OBD2 is more useful if you're up to a complete wiring swap. and being a 96 you can keep your dash and such. -
share a funny GIF or picture (family friendly though!) I laughed harder than I should have at this one

I know for sure that the block will work for you 96 is the first year of OBD2 so I'm not sure on the sensors. -
just watched the process on tv (xtreme offroad) and it looks awesome! I won't use the word "clean" but the leftover mess is just "mud" on the ground rather than dust everywhere.

that's a good question. I've never thought about it. I guess you could try and see if it can lift the rig. I bet a larger truck at the junkyard would have a bigger capacity scissor jack. good to you and the ol' MJ are out having fun

College Budget 1987 MJ Build
Pete M replied to SatiricalHen's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
the computer controls the timing, but can only adjust it so much and if you're off a tooth, it'll run rough. -
are you continuing the steel flares up front?

I just don't think the MJ we know and love would ever have gotten a v8 option. Maybe if it shared the Dak platform (meaning IFS) it really could have happened, but it would likely have continued with the XJ platform. But even then the GC and Dak didn't get the magnum 360 until 98. don't worry though. When I invent that time machine I'll go back and convince them to make a special edition 98 MJ with the 5.9L and the forever Mopar warranty. How's that for a collectible Jeep

I've often wondered that. the only ones I've ever seen in a pullapart-style yard were either mangled or burnt to a crisp. want a liberty fender? no problemo, there are 50 in the pullapart yards near me. want a wrangler fender? that's a big ol' NOPE.
