that was the first attempt trying to make use of what I had on hand. it didn't turn out well. I eventually bought the biggest amp I could shove in there. but I couldn't remember when I installed the sub and I guess I didn't go back quite enough pages looking for it. It's entirely possible I forgot to snap a photo of the new amp installed.

don't think I shared a pic of the subwoofer's new home. tucked behind the rear seat. I feel bad for guys that think they can only get bass with a giant dual 12" box eating up all their cargo space. buy quality and feed it all the power it can handle. that's my beloved Solo Baric in there. 8" of furious aggression turning hundreds and hundreds of watts into glorious door thumping. first used in my '88 MJ back in ~'98. then moved to my Dakota, then the minivan, and then stored for the last bunch of years. oh how I have missed you.

you're keeping track of all these, yes?

yeah, a lot of info for the early MJs was lost before it got into Chrysler's computers. but the hope is that if we get enough partials, we might be able to get a complete list of codes one day

I would check for vacuum leaks, especially around the manifolds

I do not! (not yet at least ) I would love it if you could do a writeup for the DIY. hopefully it would inspire others to not give up on their current 'gate.

Newbie here... How difficult to learn to work on these?

it's a 3 decade old truck. a lot depends on how it's been treated over the years. and even then, time is a hell of a curse to rubber and pals tics. -
got a pair of reds making a nest in the yard. just like a few years back, they choose a tree waaaaaay at the back. but we'll enjoy them with the spotting scope until the foliage fills in.

1986 2.8l V6 random stalling

still good idea to clean all the grounds. :) that one will help keep your brake lights bright. -
did you clean up all of the connections at the starter relay?
-
I do not, but I guess I should probably look into that.

pull out partially and it turns on the side/tail markers. all the way turns on the headlights.
-
the headlight switch turns power to the headlights on/off, it does not select between hi/lo. if your highs are on, the headlight switch should turn them off. so if you can indeed switch the Highs off, the hi/lo switch seems to work ok. next can you confirm that you are indeed getting 12 volts to the low beam wire of the headlight socket? I'd hate for all of this to be caused by both low filaments being burned out by coincidence.
