  1. yeah, lets not get crazy here. fully equipped they are at like 4400# empty. but that' like 800 more than an XJ. they are a fat little Jeep.
  2. do pay attention any time it comes off a lift to make sure the shorter shackle doesn't invert. careful about new aftermarket springs, as they tend to be taller than factory for some reason.
  3. score! do you know the birthday yet?
  4. a writeup need not be intricate. just having a properly titled thread with part numbers and a rough overview is all you need.
  5. that is definitely going to be an issue.
  6. nice don't forget to adjust the odo too.
  7. roadtrips are the best

    ouch.
  9. which aluminum rims do you have?
  10. I can totally understand. but having said that, my all-original 88 will be getting precisely 2 upgrades: headrests and a headlight relay.
  11. no pics of your truck at the show to share?
  12. there's no reason to not install the relay harness. even if you upgrade to LEDs too. a relay pulls a LOT less than LED bulbs.
  13. the 3.4L block will go right in and make use of all the 2.8's accessories/intake/exhaust. if the 2.8L is in good shape, you can leave it too and just focus on the trans. there's a good thread on the 3.4 swap in the link in my signature. the 360 will need a different all-the-things-everywhere.
  14. I would do it at the fuel filter. also, if you don't know how of the filter is, now's the time to change it. in fact, I'd probably do that first.
  15. I've had leaks that never presented themselves with a garden hose and so I used the baby powder method. sprinkle a little bit i the suspect area and the water will make tracks through it leading back towards the source. literally anything that can possibly leak HAS leaked for some poor owner at some point in time. all holes should be inspected. the hardest one yet for me was a windshield leak in the upper corner that was dribbling down INSIDE the A-pillar and then dumping out on the floor by the door.
  16. what's the flow rate coming out of the pump? pressure is one thing, but if the system can't maintain enough flow, it'll die. a clogged fuel filter, clogged sock, or a dying pump could do this.
  17. that's a darn good reason to have a magnet inside.
  18. power washer and tons of sunshine. or pull the covers off the foam, then power wash and tons of sunshine.
  19. pretty sure I've still got that same tape somewhere.
  20. and one more Hu https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpxA_ZxGX_M
  21. holy crap! got my own accidental discovery to share today too.
  22. check the fuel pump ballast resistor. can you share a pic or 2 of your engine bay?
