I don't have as many XJ brochures, but in 91 at least it says the same thing; optional with the 4.0L.

Hopefully later this week I can get some time to re-write the "rules" for the DIY forum. My thoughts are to keep the topics open, but make it the responsibility of the author to keep tabs on his baby and update the first post to reflect any new changes or whatever so that the first post or 2 is always a complete project. Nothing's set in stone though.

Ohhh nooo. I'm not delving into feedback. :redX: I have neither the skills to pull it off, nor the desire to have any semblance of responsibility when it comes to transactions. It is not hard to run a quick search and query past buyers/sellers about their experience. And the classifieds recommendation # 4 states: The problem is that no one ever reads the stickies. :(

That's why I mentioned he could use the gear of his choice and put it on the proper shaft. I just used the tooth count closest to the ideal.

Stock arms with that much lift negates all your caster and also pulls the tires back towards the rear of the wheel well. And a stock track bar will pull the axle sideways under the truck (not to mention that a stock track bar doesn't really like that much operating angle).

Yup. I just picked up an MJ cargo light of me very own and it came out of the donor truck with just a screw driver. I'll snap pics if I can find the dang camera.

It was an option. Just about any 4.0L MJ could have it. It's pretty much a waste of your time though. The factory LS wasn't very good when it was new, let alone 20 years later. :(

The main MJ leaf is too long, but if you retain your XJ main leaf and add in the MJ lower leafs you should get lift. Not sure now much though. From what I've noticed on forums, the S-10 leafs are way more common for use in a custom junkyard leaf pack. They give about 3" if I remember right.

Personally I hate the 3.07 ratio. Hate it with a passion. If I were in your shoes, I'd leave the truck 2wd for now and start saving for a gear change in the Dana 44 and find a Dana 30 front axle to match the new ratio rather than spending money on a Dana 30 with the sucky ratio. Even 3.55s would be much better, but it all depends on the tire size you want in the end. Also try your hardest to avoid the disconnect (called the Central Axle Disconnect or CAD). It's just a pain in the butt.

Agreed. I like the simplicity of the Renix stuff. I don't need a computer scanner to know what's going on. :D

You might be able to fit 12s if you angle the shocks sideways. How much travel do you expect the rear to give?

The plastic gear can be pulled from the steel shaft and swapped. I did it to mine. Just be sure to rotate the gear housing to the proper orientation so that the gear teeth are in the proper spot.

Don't forget to click on the "search for all terms". :D As convenient as it might seem, I always always always prefer people to ask their questions. Every problem has it's own nuances and I prefer to tailer the response to the specifics at hand. That's not to say that I won't keep a big word document full of responses just so I can get the details right (lost it when the last computer crashed and I should probably make another). The answers to just about everything are on the internet somewhere already. The rest of the world can corner the market on gobs of technical info at your finger tips, I want this forum to be more personal. If everyone has the answers already, why would anyone ever post? Besides, if anyone wants to compile a bunch of info on a specific problem, we do have the DIY forum now. :thumbsup:

As a rule of thumb, I try not to sticky anything that can be answered in a paragraph. It results in a plethora of stickys that clutter up the first page. But it's a good idea and would likely be a page in the website when we finally get it going. :cheers:
