congrats!! always loved a clean white MJ really shows off the beautiful lines the truck has.

looks strong, but that feels like a lot of work. I built my own and punched them through the frame and welded (with plates) to both sides. DOM round and 1/4" wall square. very, very strong. I expect them to outlast the rest of the truck.

I don't believe I've heard of anyone needing one for a mild drop.

got a job back in '97 with a 3hr round trip commute. the family's lease car was out of the picture for that so young me figured I should buy something to rack up the miles. had to be a stick. wanted a Jeep. but also wanted a truck. then I found out that I didn't have to choose. learned a lot on that truck. mostly learned to invest in tools and do the work myself.

man, I haven't thought about the snowfighter package in years! and yeah, for 2500 it better be like-new. that rusty hulk needs a lot of work.

XJs started getting them in like 94 for the driver. I guess you could retrofit it assuming you can grab all the wiring? but first gen airbags don't really get very high reviews. wear your seatbelt and drive like everyone is out to get you. that way you'll be ready for when they do. and if you're worried about safety stats, don't go looking up the XJ rollover ratings...

it's a tiny cab. a single 8" will provide all you need. get a bluetooth radio (don't fall for the ones that lack an internal amp unless you're planning on an external amp), spend 40-50 bucks or so on some 5.25s for the doors, and add an 8" woofer and you'll be good to go. that might work too. power output isn't that great, but it does have RCA outputs for a separate amp.

it's close, but is missing a line out for the sub. but you lead me down a whole other rabbit hole and I discovered this li'l guy: which is a universal bluetooth dongle with an honest to goodness volume knob and an rca output which means I can use a regular amp. which in turn means I need to find a 2ch amp with rca inputs (not hard) and rca line outs (harder for some reason) to go to the sub. can't seem to find a low profile sub that fits under the seat but doesn't have a built in amp, so the line out is necessary. this is one I found that will do the job, though I'm not married to it. and this is an example of an under-$100 sub but the interior is still torn apart and I'm weeks away from needing any of these items, so there's still time for more research. maybe I'll do a 4ch instead and install the 4x6s? I've never thought they were really worth it.

I'm looking to skip the dash radio altogether in this truck I'm helping with (the hole in the dash will be a cubby). there are a bunch of amps out there with bluetooth built in. or I can get a separate bluetooth dongle and plug that into a regular amp. the amp would be mounted under the bench out of sight. thinking of adding an under-seat sub to the mix for the other side of the bench. honestly I'd like to have an easy to reach volume control too, but that's not set in stone since the phone will be right there on the dash. so: bluetooth - small amp - door speakers - subwoofer and this is budget oriented. the truck needs a lot of other help too. thoughts?

for a stock truck, no. you''ll need to shorten it or else risk bottoming out and damaging something. on a lifted truck, maybe. a 5" lift usually needs and extra inch of driveshaft so it'd balance out.

be very careful about putting an LED into a housing designed for a regular bulb. rear output can suffer, even if the led is itself brighter. also your turns won't blink unless you accommodate the lack of resistance.

The 44 was an option unto itself too.
