Ok, so he wired it to be on with the ignition. Probably not the best way to have done that. :hmm: You can keep the current splice location (I'd re-do it properly though) if you want and use it to turn on a relay for the fan. The fan pulls a decent amount of juice and I would install a dedicated relay for it. :thumbsup:

Dunno. Check the torque on them every once in a while? :dunno:

Tough call. Are you planning on anything bigger in the future? Small lift and 31s maybe? It costs so darn much to change ratios in an axle that it almost seems a waste to change the 44 to only 3.55 or 3.73. :( How much highway travel does the truck see? How much longer do you think the truck will be on this duty? How much money do you have available for this endeavor? How new are the brakes in your current axles? Any major work done to them recently?

I've never messed with A/C stuff, besides changing the temp inside the cab. How much did it cost you for the shop to trace the leak? Don't remember, it was 12 years ago. :dunno: And I had a coupon for the conversion which made it like $5 more than buying the kit. :D

Don't forget to pull the towbar. :thumbsup: And I've seen the roofracks used as movable tiedown points in the bed.

Well, they should both be C-clip and I'd wager a guess that you can use your old brakes if you break the assembly down far enough (no pun intended).

They may not be "stuck" (meaning adhered, as with glue) as much as they may have warn a groove into the drum and are catching on the lip they created. Had that issue with my buddy's Bronco. Eventually we gave up and took it to a shop to get the whole assembly torched off and replaced them with the good assemblies from the junkyard. Even the shop couldn't get the things off the proper way. :D (makes me feel a bit better when the pros also fail) What year axles are you dealing with? Both C-clip?

Gearing is the answer. But keep in mind that trucks that came with 4.10s also had overdrive. :thumbsup: What's the gearing in the XJ axle?

That is indeed how to check the coolant level. :thumbsup: For the A/C, I paid a shop to track the leak and change over to R-134. I've never had much luck doing A/C stuff by myself. :(

4.88 gears +31s + no overdrive = suckage. Because that's about all that's needed. The 8.8 will require more monetary output, more energy, more time, etc. If his goal is to get this thing on the road again and soon, an XJ Dana 35 is a good choice. (and I can't believe I'm actually saying that :ack: but it's true) Remind me, what's wrong with the current 35?
