  1. it would appear we've surpassed 3000 members and 200,000 posts. :jump: and you guys are very welcome.
  2. I went with a large "SUV" type box (regular boxes wouldn't have fit with the rollbar). Works great for me. :D the store had a smaller one too that should tuck in nicely at the front of the bed and be below the top of the bedrails.
  3. ding-ding-ding! I went and bought one of the things myself cause they've proven to be so darn useful. :D You might learn a lot.
  4. There's no need to pull the cover. just jack up one rear tire, put the trans in neutral, and rotate that tire around exactly twice. count the revolutions that the driveshaft makes and you'll have your answer.
  5. a block heater can be used whenever you like. I don't think you can hurt anything with it. We've got one in the CRD Libby and we use it whenever the temps fall below freezing. She makes a horrible racket if we don't. :(
  6. "fog" lighting should be mounted below the bumper. Since fog tends to hover a foot above the ground, the goal is to get the light to shine under the fog (while at the same time turning the headlights off so you aren't blinded by their reflection in the fog). If your foglights are the same height as the headlights, then you may nott see a huge improvement. :dunno:
  7. I've noticed that heavy trucks can make even poor tires look good in the winter. My TSLs are the like the opposite of snow tires. I've owned worse though. Those Skorchers weren't fooling anyone. :D
  8. as far as I know, the only way to get 3" of lift is with aftermarket parts. Just about everything else in the world has less arch in the leafs. Do you have a short AAL or long AAL?
  9. SXs. mine are absolutely deadly on frozen pavement. :dunno:
  10. Your's isn't stock though, which is why I was asking. The stock ride in a (non-MT) MJ is pretty nice. cheap shocks can kill that ride though.
  11. the cab and frame are one unit. the bed is bolted directly to the frame. far as I know there are not wires to connect grounds between those items. Curious that you had a ground by the fuel pump. I added one in that spot on my 88 after I learned that my fuel pump was sucking its ground from that connection behind the tail light. :hmm:
  12. TSLs are not very road friendly. I don't buy new tires anymore for anything so I've developed an immunity to sticker-shock. :D They are all overpriced. Last set of 4 tires I bought were for the Liberty and they were like-new and cost me a little over 250, mounted and balanced. New they were like 150 per tire. Found a matching 5th with 75% tread for under 50 bucks a bit later. Sold the old unused spare for almost $50 too. time before that I got 2 brand new front tires for the Dakota with the R/T rims for all of $100 off ebay (got lucky and they were only an hour away). Used tires are da bomb as long as you're patient when looking, and thoroughly inspect before handing over cash. Also walmart is pretty cheap mounting/balancing.
  13. A smoother ride than what?
  14. eh, I've taken more roadtrips that I can count. apparently I was weened on them early too. I was less than a year old when my mom and my grandmother drove down to DisneyWorld and back with me. rumor has it they returned home to Michigan with a scant $2.86 left in their pockets. :shake: though gas was cheaper way back when. Best one yet was definitely the trip out to Moab. Just the four of us; me, my dog, my truck, and the open road. :D With good friends and fun places waiting for me at each destination, and the "excitement" of catastrophic failure haunting me the entire 3 weeks/ 3000 miles. Yup, that was a good roadtrip. :D
  15. phooey on that. plenty of room in the bed for a car seat.
  16. They are pressed in and "removable". But it's not necessarily an easy task. :(
  17. BFGs ftw! http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp ... mpare1=yes
  18. If you get stumped, there are MJ SUA lift leaf springs available in the aftermarket.
  19. I typically work on my friends' cars/houses for free, but I require them to be present and help out. Since most of my friends don't ever want to get their hands dirty, it cuts down on the amount of projects I end up doing. :D
  20. You mean the top 40 prolific post count fluffers? It's easy. click on the "members" link in the upper right hand corner of page, then click on "posts", then click on "posts" again to reverse the order.
  21. :rotf:
  22. I gotta ask... why? :hmm: Where is the centering pin drilled in them? How much arch? What are the goals for the truck?
  23. well, there's your problem. :laughin:
  24. No, they pretty much fog up twice as much as open glasses. :( The face shield idea is intriguing. I may need to go buy another one (old one is all scratched up). Another helpful tip is to get some good jackstands and a good jack and get your truck up in the air as high as possible. less chance of stuff getting into your facial orifices if you're not lying directly underneath the work area looking up. gravity is pretty reliable. :D
