  1. noooooooo. I say never invest in a Dana 35. big difference.
  2. you just might have stumped them all. :dunno:
  3. does the reverse light work? There's a connector in the harness located right behind the drivers side rear tire. corrosion inside can play havoc with the rear lights. :(
  4. one of my favorite tools is a set of super long socket extensions. harbor freight specials of course. cost me only a few bucks
  5. 87-90 is the most direct swap. Tach should work automatically, but it might be off a bit if the gauge cluster came from a 4.0
  6. Mustang injectors have a much better flow pattern (and yours might be partially clogged by now). proven power.
  7. you could upgrade the injectors. that might give ya a boost. Or gearing. a 3.73 explorer 8.8 would put a smile on you face. :D
  8. so much for the instantaneousness of the internet. :dunno: Got it now. thanks Bill.
  9. I do? :dunno: I don't see anything. :hmm:
  10. yeah, if he twisted off the yoke, what shape is the pinion in? They may seem free now, but it'll cost hundreds to get them installed.
  11. why on earth would he pull the gears? :hmm: the axles are valuable with the gears installed and set up. take those out and they're just scrap. :dunno: Be aware that used gears have no guarantee of ever running quiet installed in another axle. Like a lot of moving parts (bearings, U-joints, tires), they develop a wear pattern and the chances of precisely matching that pattern are pretty slim.
  12. that's why I stock up at the junkyard. :D
  13. phooey. nothing wrong with a tough looking bumper. :D
  14. For the upper bolts I replaced them with studs. They go from a detriment to an aide with aligning and installing the trans.
  15. Yes it does. and the libby's filter filled up and started to lose power after a while. Owners in raining areas have had issues with water clogging up and collapsing the filter too. :( Of course, it is a turbo. maybe that's why there's more problems with that Jeep in particular. Either way we haven't had any issues since installing the v6 airbox parts. very happy about that :D
  16. almost sounds like someone added the Elim decals to their non-Elim truck :dunno:
  17. running rough could simply be an dirty fuel injector or bad sensor. I get the impression that your mechanic is trying to scam you into a LOT of unnecessary labor with a complete drivetrain swap. I don't trust anyone to touch my trucks anymore.
  18. Holy crap! there's a mini-sun on that trailer!?! Are they using it to melt the snow?
  19. That's it? Mine is like 80". Yours looks way wider. :dunno:
  20. I hear that. even when being careful there's always a puddle in the floormats of the liberty. try a towel.
  21. Don't forget that the rain doesn't "splash" its way up that tube, the engine is actively sucking it up the tube. Have a similar issue with the stock airbox of our Liberty (which is kinda similar to the stock MJ box). We swapped it out for the v6 version (has an extra bit of tube that pulls air from higher up) and now we don't go through airfilters practically every oil change. But, I guess if it never rains, there's not much rain to get sucked up. :D Still dirt/dust though.
  22. I usually sit down, kick boots together outside, then bring them in. Only twice though, don't really want to get sent to Kansas with that third click. :D But a good set of floormats couldn't hurt. Or at least a sacrificial towel thrown on the floor that you pull out after working.
  23. mine doesn't lose any coolant at all. I don't understand your question. some punctuation might help. :dunno:
  24. should be a thread in the DIY that goes into more detail about the auto swap.
  25. won't hurt a thing. fuel economy might actually improve.
