  1. Yup, they are the same. just make sure you buy driveshaft joints and not axleshaft joints.
  2. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=12206
  3. not really. by the time it overheats enough to blow, it'll likely blow any cap. :D His question was specific to retaining the closed system after swapping in a radiator with a cap.
  4. ha ha :shake: :clapping: there's only one gps, but several vehicles here. It only goes out to a car when needed.
  5. then I'd go with gears. your biggest hamper to performance is the 3.07 gearing.
  6. I like our tomtom. Especially the fact that she never says the word "recalculating". :clapping: She does freeze up occasionally, but I've tracked it down to what I think is a bad battery. If I plug in the car charger for a couple minutes before pushing the ON button, everything works great. :dunno: Since then I found an old phone charger that fits the plug and now it's recharging continuously in the house. :D no problems since.
  7. Looks like my team leader took my advice and ordered the shirts early this year. glad they kept me abreast (*cough*) of the situation. Found out at the bowling fundraiser yesterday when they opened up a big box o' shirts and onsies. :shake: So, shirts are now available for semi-immediate shipping. Guys that have placed their orders will get theirs shipped asap. Onsies are only available til they are gone (unless my team changes their minds again and orders more.) Oh, and the onsies are available in 6 month, 12 month, and 18 month sizes.
  8. I would do the above steps before even thinking of a tear down. plus, it's possible that the starter fried, or the battery or cables aren't supplying enough juice to turn the engine over.
  9. thanks. My tech manuals are currently mia :dunno:
  10. probably not, but I don't know for sure. :dunno:
  11. What's the pressure cap rated for?

    every day is Easter. :D
  13. yup, creativity is the name of the game here. A popular package for random 5 on 4.5" axles is the rear disks from an Explorer. Not sure how well they would match up with your particular axle though.
  14. check your left side turn indicators for corrosion in the sockets.
  15. also depends on what you've done to it and what you want out of it. dollar for dollar, gears will give you the best kick-in-the-rear power improvement. (especially if larger-than-stock tires are involved)
  16. do you know anyone with a similar jeep so you can check if the module works?
  17. I would start with an 87-90 4.0 2wd truck and build it up from there.
  18. car-part.com shows a 4.0 block near little rock for 150. I searched for just the block rather than the whole engine. 1989 Engine Block Jeep Cherokee 4.0L,STOCK NO. 001807034 $150 Arkansas Wholesale Auto Salvage USA-AR(North-Little Rock) 1-501-945-2886/ 888-945-9685 same place had a complete engine for 200 1989 Engine Jeep Cherokee 4.0L VIN L AT CORE ONLY,STOCK NO. 001807033 $200 Arkansas Wholesale Auto Salvage USA-AR(North-Little Rock) E-mail 1-501-945-2886/ 888-945-9685
  19. it happens. :D
  20. just as a general rule of thumb, questions from you about your truck should go in the Tech forum (so they and their answers will become part of the database). The project forum is more for you to show off your truck and for others to ask you questions about it.

  22. 16 pounder. what was the problem with the system before you swapped in the new radiator?
  23. low pinion. almost every rear axle ever is low pinion. low pinion on the left, high on the right:
  24. "reverse rotation" is an improper term. nothing actually rotates in reverse. A more correct term is reverse cut, since the ring gear teeth are cut in the other direction. High pinion differentials use reverse cut gears. Low pinion diffs use regular cut gears.
  25. do the wipers still work without the delay module?
