JEEP+MUD=FUN

So I found a MJ for 500 bucks here in Kodiak :banana: , a week before I leave the island, I haven't looked at it yet. The guy says it's an 88, I6, 2wd, standard tranny. I asked him about rust and he said yes in all the wrong places :doh: , I'm going to look tomorrow evening. From what I've heard the bed and back of the cab are the things I need in good condition, everything else I can steal off a donor XJ correct? He just replaced the rear axle, but with what I'm not sure, he did say "it has a tight posi rear" so whatever that means :nuts: . I can't believe I found one for so little, but of course the body could cost me in the end. So, what do you guys think should I get it as long as it's not a complete rust bucket, or should I just wait for the lower 48 were I have ebay and craigslist, etc....? I"ve worked on cars before but this will be my first off road rig. I've never welded before :dunce: so I'm not completely satisfied with a rust and wheels truck, but I'm ready to jump into a manche.....

I flipped through a few mags and i haven't seen much stuff about/ for the MJ. Is JP the best option?

:dunno: I would say I don't want to spend too much more than 5G for a complete trail/mud ready, although i know the lift/rockers/tires will be most of that budget, assuming the comanche i find is in fair shape.

That's all still up in the air as I'm jeepless atm, I'm starting a wish list. I'm in the middle of a tranfer of duty stations and am figuring out how much money i want to spend on mods. I'm thinking around 35's just to throw a number out there. I want to be able to have full flex in case I trail ride as well. As for gears and axles, I'm not knowledgeable in those areas, so I would ask for help in what you all think would work best.

Yeah i get the point with not over tightening them, I must have miss read the other post.

My buddy has an air compressor and air tools in his YJ, he says he loves it for when sh*t hits the fan on the trail. I read somewhere on here never use air tools of the lug nuts, is that the only thing that shouldn't be touched with air tools, or should I just forget the idea of having a portable workshop?
