  1. the gearing is so high that he'd have to risk spinning the tires to get going, and spinning the tires is very much frowned upon due to the damage it does to the flats. The push start is very common.
  2. I'm thinking you should put a post in the main registry forum to outline what it is you're looking for.
  3. a wire wheel is a poor choice of tool for that job. leaves all sorts of nasty scratches. first hand experience here. :( Sand (or other media) blasting would be a better choice. clear coat is just a paint. remove it and see what lies beneath. (but remove it properly so as to not damage the metal.)
  4. looks like a poor quality photo of a white egg. :hmm: probably why I didn't get it. :dunno:
  5. i'd be curious to know if that particular chicken lays another white egg. know which one did it?
  6. Found the videos from the salt flat trip. first up is the "competition" for WFC: an S-10. Warm up for the Lakeview Cruiser: getting ready to go: Yeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. 30x9.50s on those rims will not hit the flares, but they will rub the lower control arms. I never had any rubbing with my BFG ATs. It was close, but still didn't touch. :D
  8. call it jinxing or whatever, but twice now I've announced a truck purchase and it's turned out to be a bit "premature". :fs1: Next time I'm saying nothing until it's in my driveway. :D
  9. the Ford Exploder; dangerous even after the firestone tires are removed.
  10. Hi Rick! :waving: Rob has it backwards. the resistor is bypassed upon startup, and then after a couple seconds power is diverted through it. This gives the pump full power for startup, then cuts back on the power for running (originally it was supposedly a way to quiet the pump down). If only the resistor is bad, the truck should start up, then die after a second or so. It sounds as if there's a short in the system. :dunno: Both wires might be toast by now. look for any wires that might be touching the exhaust. If you've already got a wire in for power, you're halfway there. now just add a switch and you'll have an antitheft device. :D water pump should be the easy too. I did one in under an hour while stranded in a rest area parking lot.
  11. pretty much all of the small-Jeep rims have the same backspacing. I ran 30s on alloys under my 2wd 88 for years with no rubbing whatsoever.
  12. I collect pins. :D I'm most definitely curious about what you're doing. Got any photos of past products?
  13. Yup, the Pioneer was the middle trim line. Could have had pretty much anything. My 2 Pioneers came with buckets and tach-less gauge clusters.
  14. some of the Jeep aluminum rims will need the center caps popped out for use on some 2wds. the little bearing caps gets in the way. Will this affect those rims on your Jeep? Dunno for sure. I'm just regurgitating what I've read. :D for what it's worth, I've got the older version on my 2wd in georgia:
  15. I've been going through old boxes lately and remembered seeing it. :D
  16. So I found myself whistling a tune just now. Had no idea what it was, but it was catchy. Then it clicks. I run upstairs and dig out my gameboy (the classic green/black screen 80s edition) and sure enough, I was whistling the tune from Tetris. Not the main tune, but one of the alternatives. The one I always chose. Hadn't heard that tune in like 15 years. I guess a gazillion hours of playing that game left an impression. :D
  17. :clapping: Clearly Sam has better junkyards than I. :(
  18. ...you have enough spare parts that you can just about make another MJ. :D
  19. might want to start a new thread for all that.
  20. drove my 86 around the block. I needed to cut the broken lock off the trailer so I cold use the trailer to help a friend. The ol' girl did it without any complaints.
  21. got them through JCWhitney (jcw.com) about 10 years ago.
  22. No Pete, thats what happens when you have an MJ obsession Only owned the 88 the first time it happened. :D Guy drove by, saw me wrenchin' on the 88 and stopped to talk. asked me if I wanted a second. That truck is now my 86 MT. :D
  23. Chrysler never offered a special oil just for AX-5s. :dunno: They did for AX-15s.
  24. A 12 oz can or up to a Medium Mt Dew from Taco Bell goes in the door cupholder. :D I don't really drink anything requiring a "cup" while in my truck. :dunno:
  25. The AX-4 and AX-5 are not covered by the same concerns. They take plain ol' GL-5.
