Straight from Chrysler. 10w30 is the new oil requirement for AX-15s.

I'd be more shocked if it didn't leak/burn/blow some oil. It's a Jeep. They do that. Don't fret too much over it. that coating of oil underneath is the Jeep's version of rust-proofing. :D Does it still make good power? does it blow clouds of smoke out the tailpipe? Start with fixing the blowby (doing the stuff Eagle mentioned). That might actually cure your ills (the valve cover gasket is a known leak problem). Then work on some of the remaining seal leaks. Unless the block literally blows up or knocks horribly, there's hardly any reason to undertake an complete engine swap. :thumbsup: It just needs some maintenance done, that's all.

yup, that's what I meant. the giant vacuum hose leading to the brake booster. :thumbsup: I remember one guy had a big leak and it stalled the truck when he braked hard.

how long before a lift and bigger tires? :brows: I'm thinking 3" and 32s with some flares to help cover them. :D

Are the arms the proper length for the extra lift? If they are too short, then your caster is likely off. Check your caster.

and now I know why I was mistaken. seems that the LB (8ft) was indeed an option 97-99. Just in time for it to disappear when I was researching them when I bought my 2000. :shake: Also, for some reason I've never seen one. :dunno: So there ya go. :D But it's only available in regular cab. By the way, the regular length bed is 6.5 ft. :thumbsup:

2nd gens all had the exact same bed (except for the 4 doors which were only 5ft). I've got a 7ft MJ too and I've never missed that last foot in the Dak. :dunno: Only the first Gen Daks (and only regular cab at that) had the option of a 7 footer. think of it as trading a foot of bed for 2 feet of back seat room. :yes: And their ability offroad depends entirely on you definition of "offroading". There are plenty of Dak owners out that that swear by their rigs, but they are a bit longer and wider than an MJ, so tight trails will be, well, tighter. But it's not like you're giving up the MJ, so it'll still be around for those adventure cravings. :drool: :drool: :drool: Except I'll never buy another black truck again. Silver or dark blue are my Dak faves. :yes:

I'm partial to the second gen Daks. I have a 2000 and love it. A clubcab v8 4wd Dak would be a nice compliment to an MJ. gives you some more power, interior space, and more of the comforts of a modern truck. :thumbsup:

It should not affect fuel economy in any noticeable way. Unless maybe there was something wrong in the jeep. I mean, how much gas does it really take to spin the front driveshaft around compared to moving the truck down the road? :dunno:

how are measuring the temp of the trans?

SWB can do that too. :yes: The differences between a SWB and LWB offroad usually boil down to the LWB dragging its bumper all over the place. That extra 6" of overhang after the rear axle can be an issue. The extra 6" of wheelbase is really not that big of a deal. :thumbsup:

which tc? torque converter or transfercase? 4.0 or 2.8 6 cyl? If transfercase, what year is the 6 cyl and is it stick or auto?
