  1. please take all transactions either to the classifieds or to PMs.
  2. I have a 99 TJ trans in my 88 and it's close, but doesn't touch. Now, mine is a bit different than most since I have a custom crossmember that raises the assembly up a small amount and I snipped off one useless aluminum tab on the corner of the t-case (which might have touched so I cut it off preemptively), but with a stock truck it should all work fine.

  5. not mine. just a photo. But once upon a time I owned a '92 0 miles 2wd AX-15. sold it to a member.
  6. yup. on the left:
  7. 2 things on the dual tank thought: exhaust? and 20 gal of gas is heavy.
  8. Bummer man. :( That's up there with my $5000 birdhouse. Thank goodness I still had decent health coverage back then. Although I always felt if it took 5 grand to put my hand back together (sneezed and ended up shaking hands with the table saw), the dang thing should be stronger than before, not weaker. I figured I should have gotten some sort of hidden knife, a super kung-foo grip, or maybe I could fire it off as a grappling hook. :dunno: Or maybe I've just watched too much James Bond.

  10. he's been trying to sell that MJ for years now. :(
  11. You've got an engine from an 82-89 Camaro then. Not quite as good as the 3.1/3.4, but should be better than the 2.8L in your truck.
  12. which Camaro engine did you find? The 3.1 and the 3.4 are an excellent upgrade for the old 2.8.
  13. forum doesn't really retain that info
  14. When I saw the first pic I was crushed, but after seeing the closeups, it doesn't seem all that bad. Sure the interior is toast, but the steel doesn't look ruined. Needs sand blasting and some paint. New interior and wiring and it should be good to go. All depends on how much of a project you're looking for.
  15. lately? sadly, no. I last traveled that 48 hr commute in 05.
  16. For my 90: 1- 3.55 gears (3.07s suck) 2- booster swap 3- 242 t-case
  17. I'll avoid the obvious ones like the lift and 4wd conversion and just look at specific additions to the 88. 1: rocker guards. I could not possibly be happier with my design. :D 2: 33x14 boggers for the rear. not that the trXus aren't cutting it, but come on, they're BOGGERS! They are insanely wide and gnarly looking and the traction is phenomenal. 3: disk brake conversion for the 9". I hated those stupid 30 year old drums. :fs1: wow, that was a harder list to make than I thought. I guess it shows I don't do anything to my baby unless it's awesome.

    long live the DVR.
  19. I live in Michigan. Rust has this thing about me. It will slowly and methodically destroy all that I hold dear (that's made of steel anyhow). :(
  20. 3rd gear is a 1:1 ratio. anything beyond 1:1 is an overdrive.
  21. specific to 87? not really. but to MJs in general... check for rust: under carpet, behind bedside panel (look up from below), rockers, bottom edge of doors. Even if you're in a "rust-free" zone and the seller advertises a "rust-free" truck, check under the carpet. No MJ is immune to water leaks in the cab.

  23. Why would they? they just sold the previous record setter. :fs1:
  24. as I understand it, for power steering you'll need everything associated with the system from a like-era, same-engine MJ/XJ (pump, brackets, hoses, steering box, etc).
